necrocephalus is right, you need to put nets on the ventilation. Because most likely the beetles migrate from the attic.

04.06.2008 10:04, Guest

thank you guys!
and they most likely climb out of the ventilation hole in the kitchen! Because more often I see a crowd right next to the hole.
brrr...
I hope you need regular grids? or something special?

04.06.2008 10:45, Alexandr Rusinov

A regular grid is quite suitable, the main thing is that the cell does not allow the beetle to crawl through.

04.06.2008 11:12, Guest

thank you again!
today behind the net!!!
can they crawl through the ceiling? I looked, I have small cracks there.... (((

08.06.2008 4:14, KaBaT

the description is very similar, but they crawl slowly. I found it on the wooden wall of the balcony. I didn't see it in the apartment, it's unrealistic to see it on the floor. pigeons live behind the balcony wall(on the neighbor's balcony).
tell us what kind of insect it is , and whether it is worth shooting pigeons mad.gifto get rid of it.
but seriously - how does it affect a person and how to get rid of it?

What good ticks! smile.gif
Try to spray pigeons ' nests with an acaricidal preparation of some kind-benzyl-benzot or other acaricides/insecticides.
They don't seem to be very dangerous, but they bite sometimes and can cause allergies, etc.

1. Hello, everyone...today I dismantled the bed and nearby nightstands...I found a lot of maggots under the bed...the size is approximately 3 mm...dark color...it seems like they are covered with some hairs and look like a drop (I'm not sure about the hairs, they are too small) they taper to the tail...And under the nightstands, they just weren't measured, I almost fell dead in the same place!!! most (or rather almost all) were dead, but some were still alive. Crawling slowly...well...at least slowly enough for me to vacuum everyone in... It seemed to me that according to the description and even from the photo, something looks like a leatherworm larva...but who do you think it could be??? O_o
2. I also recently had a small flood in my kitchen...a pipe burst...naturally, the floor is damp (wooden under the linoleum) linoleum is changed and with the floor you can not do anything... And then there were some gray long worms somewhere 4-7 mm long...I see them mostly at night, they crawl very quickly (I have time to cut a couple of them with a sneaker) after the winter, they have already disappeared, but still it seems to me that I saw a couple of them before for some reason they crawled out in the direction from the refrigerator, during defrosting...I think it may have something to do with the dampness and fruit that I bought at the market...so Ter look askance at the targashes as they pass by... SO WHO ARE THEY AND HOW CAN THEY BE SCRAPPED????!!!!! Tell me belittling!!!

22.06.2008 23:21, Fornax13

1. I think it is true that the larvae of skin-eating beetles (possibly representatives of the genera Attagenus and Anthrenus - rather the former) feed on various organic residues (mainly of animal origin). These leatherworms are quite sensitive to humidity - i.e. regular wet cleaning, clean out all accumulations of dust, wool, fly corpses, etc. You are unlikely to get rid of them completely, but the number should be reduced.
But:
1. It's summer now and beetles are flying home quite well.
2. when humidity increases in conditions of a sufficient amount of food, the ecological niche of leatherworms is successfully occupied by a moth. So down with the hotbeds! smile.gif

2. If the grayish-silvery ones are worn very quickly, then these are scales (Lepisma saccharina most likely).
Like this?

http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Обыкновенная_чешуйница

A harmless beast, in principle. With fruit, it is unlikely, rather, the dampness affects, they eat some plant remains, damp supplies. They can't stand dryness.

23.06.2008 11:12, Guest

1. So it is strange that due to the fact that I have asthma wet cleaning in my house is not uncommon smile.gifat all and it is not clear where they actually came from) and here about the number, I say the most interesting thing is that they were almost all dead... I only have an assumption that they could settle in the mattresses of the old bed, which I just threw out, and under the curbstones they moved maybe somehow ... =(
2. I don't even know about these...They are so small and I somehow did not see any antennae there...And here they are black and I have gray...but if they change color then...it may well be...When they run around, they wriggle like hell...I'm not going to hit them with anything, so they'll start cutting circles and bend even more...They run away as soon as I turn on the light... Well, this is basically fine, I don't have them anymore...I was just wondering what kind of terrorists they were smile.gif
Thanks for the explanation=)

23.06.2008 13:05, Fornax13

1. These are probably not corpses, but linden skins. Quite likely.
2. No, the scales are not black, rather, they are metallic gray of some kind. Depending on the lighting, they look different. Judging by the way you describe the nature of their movements, this is them. They cut circles at breakneck speed - very much like them.

23.06.2008 16:21, Guest

1. Yes, it probably is...I have because there are no covers, no dirt...It's all the bed's fault !!! ARRR!!!!
2. Well, then it's clear=)

we have a sawyer in the floorboards in our house, making holes and destroying the boards, turning them into dust. can you tell me how to deal with it???

29.06.2008 23:57, IchMan

This is not a sawfly, but most likely a grinder beetle from the family Anobiidae. If they live in rough floorboards-this is probably a house grinder (Hadrobregmus pertinax L.) - it is larger (5-7 mm), if in winter-proof boards, skirting boards, window sills, etc. - then it is a furniture grinder (Anobium punctatum Deg.), it is smaller-3-5 mm. Beetles can make sounds that resemble the ticking of a clock. It is quite difficult to deal with them, and the most reliable way is to replace all populated boards with new ones.

It looks like the larvae of some ladybirds (Coccinellidae).

Is it ladybugs that can be so disgusting?

06.07.2008 16:57, justagoodguy

even as protection-tight-fitting clothing! Sleep right in it. We had this in a camp south of the cats! Poison faster-otherwise it will breed to horror.

06.07.2008 17:08, Victor Titov

Well, that's a matter of taste... And not the ladybirds themselves, but their small children.

06.07.2008 17:19, justagoodguy

how did they get to the third floor? the apartment is clean, the cat is home, on all Windowsventilation grids, cracks are covered up.
Could they be somewhere else?

They could fly in through the windows, they could bring home plants with them. Have you bought any plants recently?

Apparently, a fertilized female got into your apartment and laid eggs. From them, the larvae hatched. But their fate in the apartment is bleak: they feed (the vast majority) on aphids, and from your home to get to them, to put it mildly, is problematic.

There is a fine grid on the windows. Plants are not the same as they would be seen in meju's rooms with a balcony (all the flowers are there) and a toilet.
And where to find this female now? and those who worshipped her? where do they usually live?

Aphids, as it is not strange, can be in the middle of summer-one of the windows looks out into the courtyard, and there the tree is large, so small that even through the closed ones!!! windows crawl through.

In previous years, sutras were found in the dacha with one or two sutra carcasses in the shell.
There's been some bad luck this year. And not only with us, but also with our neighbors.
They appear in the evening, fly around the room, rustle in bags... Spharischen horror...

Most likely, this female has already passed away...Yes, and it was probably fertilized not in your apartment, but on the street (perhaps on that tree occupied by aphids). And in the apartment, most likely, you accidentally brought it (on clothes, in a bag, with a bouquet of flowers, etc., etc.) .

06.07.2008 23:22, Bad Den

Harpalus (Pseudophonus) rufipes, sort of.

07.07.2008 0:52, justagoodguy

Thanks!
And where can I find out more about their possible habitat in the apartment?
I love insects, but not in my apartment.

07.07.2008 11:09, Мих

Well, there is no and, and that's it! A female flew in, got laid up, and died! The larvae were hatched and now they will also starve to death.. It's not a disaster after all! Collect these larvae on the mentioned tree, give the world new ladybirds.

Yes, thanks. I found high-quality photos, this is exactly him(her).
As I understand it, the beetle is even useful.
But how to get him out of the house? It's unpleasant when they run around in herds at night.

Hang the grid on the windows. They fly to the light. And everything to do. And those who are already knocked up, let them fly to someone else smile.gifAt one time I had nabis living on the ceiling (this is how I caught the light) - nothing, did not touch anyone, walked on the ceiling thick and happy smile.gif

Hello! The photo is rather indistinct, but it resembles a flathead beetle in its outline and description. A common barn pest.

22.07.2008 7:51, Bukashechnik

One of the most effective and at the same time environmentally friendly methods of destroying pests of stocks should include thermal - the use of high or low temperatures.
If pests are detected, products should not be immediately discarded. If the products are poorly populated with pests, then initially it is necessary to select all beetles, butterflies, larvae, pupae and destroy them by mechanical means or pour boiling water over them. Peas, beans, and cereals can be washed in salt water, while beetles and their larvae float up. Flour should be sifted through a sieve. After such cleaning, to completely destroy pests, the products must be heated with dry heat at +700 C. For insects, the exposure is approximately one hour, for flour mites-15-20 minutes.
Low temperatures are also effective in killing pests, especially insects. So, for example, at a temperature of -100 C, a rice weevil dies in 4 days, a grain grinder, flour crunches-1 day, a grain mole-2 days. But some pests are quite resistant to freezing. So, at a temperature of -100 C, the pea seed dies only after 130 days, and the larva of the hairy mite survives for 330 days. After heat treatment, the products can be used for food. Highly contaminated products, as well as those affected by mold, should not be eaten, as this can cause food poisoning or allergic reactions.
In the rooms where pests are found, it is necessary to carry out a thorough cleaning: sweep out and destroy spilled flour, cereals and dust, as eggs and larvae of pests may remain. Clean the cracks of kitchen cabinets and tables and pour boiling water (1 tablespoon of soda per 1 liter of water) or lubricate with vinegar essence.

Hello, last night an insect flew in through my open window...so scary that at first I was even confused. Somehow I kicked him out, started looking for his name on the Internet, but found only a picture...please tell me who it is and how" it " is dangerous. Thank you.

Hello, I can't tell you the specific name, but this is definitely a rider from the family Ichneumonidae, order Hymenoptera. This little animal is not dangerous at all, but on the contrary, it is useful. With its long ovipositor, which most likely scared you the most, it paralyzes insect larvae, among which harmful species are often found, and lays eggs in them. It is good that you did not succumb to the philistine instinct to kill the unknown and terrible, but simply drove it out.

22.07.2008 12:07, Victor Titov

Perhaps it's Rhyssa sp., very similar.

but the strength is gone. The village is located in the Lipetsk region. Every year there are more and more beetles in the house.
Now they are already crawling over the sleeping person. They get into the hair on your head. Because of them, I lost my temper and went home instead of going on a camping trip.
I'm on maternity leave. Next year I really want to come to the village with my child.. but these beetles.. They're just swarming in the house... they are very loud..they can be heard falling to the floor..how they fly.. they only come out at night.
you are welcome! Help!
