Two others are flies.

mmm.. like flies? isn't the other one a butterfly?

26.07.2008 0:54, Victor Titov

mmm.. like flies? isn't the other one a butterfly?

Is this a joke? Just in case, I'll answer seriously: just like a fly. Сирф. Syrphus ribesii.

Read it FAQ, very useful sometimes.

26.07.2008 14:31, боюсьбоюсь

Here are the pictures, and this is clearly not khrushchak)))

http://photofile.com.ua/users/allisa_anna/115157746/

Here at this link, album "bugs", user allisa_anna, password ghjcnjqq
(This is just in case the link doesn't open).

I look at the pictures - some painfully familiar insect....

26.07.2008 15:12, Tigran Oganesov

I think it's some kind of ground beetle. And, by the way, it can bite.

26.07.2008 15:20, боюсьбоюсь

Oh, my God.
I questioned my mother again - now she says that there was no redness, that the "bite" could well have been the touch of hard paws.
So what should I do? We're just leaving for the sea in a couple of days, I don't want to start this right now... Or can the bite of such a ground beetle be seriously dangerous?

26.07.2008 16:06, DIMID

As a rule, the bite is only mechanical, without poison, but palpable. There is nothing dangerous.
It is necessary that Dmitrich would determine the type, the last word for him will be-he is a specialist.your
business.

26.07.2008 16:11, боюсьбоюсь

So it's a ground beetle after all?
Great I oprostovolosilas with khrushchakom))
Now there are new questions-HOW did they get to us? Most likely, they fly to the light from the street or still live somewhere in the apartment?
And where can they nest - in crevices or are there any specific places for them? They fly quite briskly, but for short distances. Don't buzz.

26.07.2008 16:33, DIMID

Stay all the same, check the windows, baseboards, cracks and neighbors. wink.gif

26.07.2008 19:04, Necrocephalus

Of course, it would be interesting to determine the species, but from such a photo it is hardly possiblesmile.gif, it seems to be similar to Zabrus tenebrioides, but maybe something else from Harpalinae...
And it is not so important in this particular case.
These beetles do not live in houses and do not nest, they probably enter the house from the outside. Most likely, they just fly into the light. Accordingly, the control measures are grids on the windows. You do not need to poison them, collect those that are in the house manually and release them to the wild. After you equip the windows with grids, their number should decrease dramatically until it completely disappears.
DIMID is right about the bite, it does not pose any danger to humans. Such beetles can't even bite through the skin.

Thank you, I'm sorry to poison myself)))
Now all zakonopachivaem.
Sorry for the intrusiveness-JUST do not live in the house and do not nest?

26.07.2008 19:22, боюсьбоюсь

Neighbors interviewed and questioned))) This is only our happiness)))) Apparently, the ecology in our apartment is good...

26.07.2008 19:49, Necrocephalus

Sorry for the intrusiveness-JUST do not live in the house and do not nest?

Only if, for example, you have large quantities of cereals growing in your apartment... smile.gif It's unlikely, I think? smile.gif Bugs from the street, that's for sure.
Why you have them and why your neighbors don't have them is not an easy question. There can be many reasons-from the presence of grids on the windows of neighbors, to the features of lamps used to illuminate your home. In any case, the grids on your windows should solve the problem, I think.

hello! please help me! we drove into a newly built private house and were horrified at the sight of such an insect: long legs (there are a lot of them!) long slightly curled whiskers, the body is about 2 cm long, light brown and slightly black striped, moves quickly, does not catch the eye. we find this creature dead in the most visible place of the room, it falls apart when you touch it. the house is 2-storey with a basement, we live in the Krasnodar Territory.
What is this abomination? plizzzz help!

26.07.2008 23:56, нико

I searched and found it. This is a flycatcher. question removed))

what a creepy creature that is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it is better to spank flies than to live with this "animal" smile.gif

27.07.2008 5:22, moto

About six months ago in our apartment (middle floor, kerpichny house, near the park) appeared small beetles (2-3 mm.) So small elongated and flexible that when they crawl they look like small worms (They run of course more often than worms).
First, they were found in cereals: oatmeal, rice, millet (buckwheat and checheritsa do not have them), then they began to appear throughout the kitchen, then in different parts of the apartment - in the sink, in cans of water, in salt, on the ceiling, on the walls, in the bathroom, refrigerator, etc. They like to walk around the apartment in proud solitude, and in cereals and in their storage areas in groups of 3-20 people.
Gradually, there are more of them, and suddenly they will eat only cereals and kitchen furniture, and in general I do not like porridge with meat...
Please identify them and tell me how to get rid of them.
Thank you in advance, Alexey.

It is a Surinamese flour eater or a related species of the genus Oryzaephilus. It eats all sorts of cereals, dried fruits, flour, etc. It is better to throw out all contaminated products, and pack new ones hermetically.

27.07.2008 18:05, Victor Titov

Well, I'm afraid you have nothing to fear! Still, I was right: the beetles were not only not flour crushers, but not even their "distant relatives" from the same family. Necrocephalus is absolutely right: these are certainly some ground beetles from the Harpalinae group. The view, of course, is hopeless to try to determine from such a photo, but in your case it doesn't matter. These beetles are not dangerous for humans. They can bite purely theoretically, but in practice the probability of this tends to 0. Absolutely exactly such a ground beetle could not bite "of its own volition" (it does not need it, they are usually herbivorous). Now, if you take such a bug and hold it tightly in your fist, or even better, holding it in your hands, put your finger under its jaws, then it, striving for freedom, can slightly pinch the skin (but in no case bite through!). This pinch will be almost painless. Necrocephalus explained everything to you about the ways to get into your apartment and how to deal with this scourge, there is nothing to add to this. I wish you success!

DSC_0858.JPGplease help me! "butterflies" appeared at home.
we don't know who. more of them in the kitchen. they sit in all cereals. they are not going to disappear. it's getting bigger. they are small in size. if you touch it with your hands, a brown deposit remains-"dust". there is a photo, but I can't upload it ((
I will be very grateful.

Omar, thank you for your reply.
They don't bite... ))) The house is old..my grandmother lived there as a girl. Therefore, close up the cracks... It's a little heavy...
I don't expect any danger from them.. but it's just unpleasant when people crawl on you.. on the bed.. your hair... brrr..and if in the ear..
somewhere on the Internet I read that you can make a decoction of dandelions from buzzing beetles. It's true?

28.07.2008 10:52, RippeR

the decoction won't help.
you can stick glasses of beer or wine in front of the house, you can also throw sugar there, preferably in front of places where there are cracks, then there is a chance that most of the ground beetles will get there. Also, as an option, you can etch the house with some kind of muck.
These beetles, sometimes, fly into the house, to me even in the city there are 1-2 pieces per year. It's hard to say what attracts them to their homes.

28.07.2008 12:09, omar

Not... decoction is a dead number. Why is it too hard to cover up the cracks in the floor with carpenter's putty? confused.gif I also have an old house, built before the revolution, and all the cracks are covered up. This is not very long and not hard labor at all. It doesn't even smell much.

28.07.2008 12:15, боюсьбоюсь

Thank you, guys, very much, for participating in our beetle epic.
In Kiev, the rain began to fall, the humidity increased, the temperature dropped, and the lovely ground beetles left our hospitable home.
Mosquito nets hang constantly, but persistent ground beetles did not consider them an obstacle. Nevertheless, we pulled them tighter))))
Ground beetles are not seen for two days, my child and I sleep peacefully))
But how many interesting things I learned about insects))))

28.07.2008 23:39, guest: Gen

Mole. A relative of the carpet one. The fact that they sit on cereals is half the trouble. But when you start cooking soup from these cereals, you will find a surprise in the form of worms floating on the surface - caterpillars of this moth, which just feed on cereals.
Except for throwing out all the infected cereals, nothing comes to mind. You can certainly try to check them. Or scald the cereal with boiling water and dry it on towels.

29.07.2008 9:32, Guest

Ripper... no... they live there!!! )))))))
you can call me a knacker.. But I kill them.. so in a room of 20 m2, I can kill about 25 pieces per night.. they don't even have to be afraid.. they walk on pillows and don't run away at all..
Omar... not difficult..but just 2 years ago passed all the baseboards.. I don't even know what to do anymore.. but apparently we'll go through it again...

29.07.2008 16:00, Mylabris

Use construction silicone (transparent) for this purpose. I mean, to putty up the crevices.

30.07.2008 10:16, guest: Din

It seems that we have exactly the same insects at homefrown.gif, it is impossible to photograph them. After a long search on the Internet, I found a picture of a bug that most closely resembles our insect. Right here http://bio.1september.ru/2005/04/20.gif, called Velia-baby.
Most often they were seen on the bed, on the table and on the laptop, which also stood on the table. Well, the main inconvenience is that crawling on the body is very unpleasant.
Mostly they are white, they even seem transparent, but several times they were caught on the body of brownish ones, and after they were crushed it looked like they had drunk blood.
They came to the house after they brought a blanket from the dry cleaners. Maybe it's just a coincidence...
Please help me get rid of them! Please tell me what to do.

30.07.2008 11:42, omar

Velia-baby can not be. You have a 98% chance of having bed beetles

30.07.2008 13:08, guest: Gen

Why are bed beetles white? They should always be brown. Or not? And most importantly, they didn't recognize why from the CES? Yes, and bedbug bites itch.

30.07.2008 13:15, omar

Perhaps you have seen young bedbugs that have recently shed / hatched and did not have time to get stronger and turn red. The SES didn't recognize stupid ones because. Bedbug bites itch, yes. But not everyone has the principle of individual sensitivity.

30.07.2008 14:11, Tuya

Thank you very much! yeah, there are worms already...yes, the cereal was transferred to the banks.but they still fly in the kitchen...maybe there is some remedy for them???

30.07.2008 15:04, guest: Gen

If they don't have anything to lay their eggs in, you won't see them again in a short time. And it is better to store cereals in airtight containers, since such things happen. So that the moth does not go there and not from there... smile.gif
And the funds should not be used. Still a kitchen.

30.07.2008 22:24, guest: Din

I'm not saying that this is exactly Velia-baby. Just outwardly, it is most similar to those that are found in our country.
Yes, I am also inclined to the version of bed beetles. But they mostly seem to come out at night, and you can't see or hear them during the day, and these ones crawl everywhere during the day, and they're too small. You can't see the big ones. I remember when I was a child I had to face them, so they were somewhat different....
And the main question is what to do??

31.07.2008 0:22, муся

I ran beetles at first not big dark brown oval 2-3mm. usually in such places, the tree is eaten. and then after a while there were och. similar but already more than 4-5mm, as if they had grown up smile.gif
they began to appear as the street warmed up, mainly on the windowsill, on the wallpaper at the window, curtains. I didn't want them to fly, just crawl.
a few pieces a day appeared
this is also eating a tree? and if, for example, they came from outside to my apartment, can they move in with me? and where to find/destroy them?
wouldn't you like them to eat too much?

31.07.2008 19:52, AlesyaChe

I have the same story! such things have appeared! I went away for a couple of days, and then there were...
but we have them found in different sizes, a maximum of 0.5 mm probably. and different in color. the ones that are bigger are darker, the smallest ones are almost transparent...
most of them are on the old balcony, on a wooden frame. they also love all sorts of equipment, in a large calculator - there are millions of them! not in bed at all, at least not yet.
we have a cat that lives here, maybe it's the source of these things?
they don't bite, nothing itches, but it's worth touching something-as you already have a couple of these points kaposhatsya! and this is very disgusting...
What should I do?!?!?

31.07.2008 20:17, Fornax13

Yes, these are most likely hay eaters (such as the book louse Liposcelis divinatorius or the house hay eater Trogium pulsatorium). They live in all sorts of dusty places. There is practically no harm from them.

well, what about none? they crawl on the body!!!

31.07.2008 20:47, Fornax13

smile.gif If they really interfere, try to destroy the food base, i.e. dust, dry flowers, old newspapers, etc.

31.07.2008 23:39, Guest

So we have the same problem.
I already tried to throw out all the cereals and wash everything, but after three months they appeared again. What else can you do with them, how to get rid of them???
