Where are you living?

I woke up last night to a strange noise. On the ceiling in the corner, something rustled under the wallpaper (the ceiling is also covered with glue). In some places, the wallpaper moved away, after a surprise from neighbors in the form of a flood (but it was more than a year ago). There was a feeling that someone was swarming in these cavities. I jumped up and turned on the light, but there was no one there. This has happened several times. Then the noise shifted to another corner on the ceiling. Again, when I turned on the light, I didn't see anyone. After that, there was an impudent rustling on the nightstand. My friend and I began to clear everything from the curbstone, and only briefly did I see IT. Something dark (even black), about the width and shape of a thumb joint. I don't know the length, because it was only partially visible and quickly disappeared behind the cabinet. We decided to turn off the lights and wait for the rustling to be heard again. This time it came from across the room, from the direction of my bed. Only now not from the ceiling, but from the floor. We pulled the bed back. There were boxes on the floor. After we moved them, our alien jumped out and immediately hid behind the cabinet. We again failed to examine it. The only thing I thought was that he ran like a small lizard. I didn't even run, but ducked under the closet.
A friend left for work, and I spent the whole day sitting at the computer, trying to find a similar description. The most frightening thing is that it is not clear what you need to fight. It's as fast as a mouse or lizard. But do they run on ceilings? And what I've glimpsed doesn't remind me of either of them. But if it's an insect, can it run so fast on the floor? We had suspicions that it was an American cockroach (since we live in Kiev and many people complain about them now). But the color was not similar. And I didn't notice any whiskers or paws. Maybe he only showed us his backside? Friends assume that this is a large cricket. They had one, and its behavior was similar. Tell me, please, what could it be? We're still shaking with terror. How to sleep in this room we don't even know, scary eek.gif

I have the same problem. I bought some cereals. A rice weevil appeared. I threw out everything I could. I keep everything in the refrigerator now, so that this beetle doesn't have anything to eat. But from time to time, but no-no yes one will appear. Here on the table the skin from the fat remained, so at night, when I woke up in the toilet, I saw a terrible picture (really creepy):
-a trickle from fat to mink (about 15-20cm path) went red-haired ants, you can see dragged supplies and with them!!!! side by side 2-3 weevils in etuzhe mink!!!
I'm just in shock. Mlyn was so disgusted by it, and even creepy.
I took a wet sponge and wiped it all off the table and under the boiling water in one motion. Around the place smeared with some kind of remedy, which is only from ants, but they don't care about the campaign on it.
In short kick-ass! Xs than to get rid of these two types of insects (they are also friends of the campaign have already become-in one hole dragged supplies).

By the way, if someone knows what or how to bring out my household members, I will be very grateful for the advice. If you don't mind write to nastrond@list.ru
Right now at home the child is 6 months old, so I'm afraid to use chemicals that are used in barns and granaries.

A flycatcher can quickly run on walls and ceilings. But her sawyere and paws were pretty good.

Chalk "Masha" smear, if that.

It could have been a mouse. Mice run very well on rough walls and easily climb under the wallpaper on the ceiling.

07.11.2008 11:21, AlexEvs

I have flycatchers in my apartment and they don't make any noise.
I also think it might be a mouse.

11.11.2008 23:04, Taliya

Thank you so much for your answers! It was indeed a mouse. And we were so afraid, we thought a huge cockroach. After reading what people have at home, fantasy works "perfectly" smile.gifThe mouse is disarmed, we now sleep quietly smile.gif

12.11.2008 17:08, Affa

by the way! umnik.gif
Finally, they brought out these incomprehensible insects, as they are called, so I didn't really know. After 5 baiting, they finally gave up and died out, or maybe went into hibernation, because they disappeared around the end of September with the onset of cold weather confused.gif
But while they are not there, my soul has somehow become calmer cool.gif

Dear experts, I'm actually from another forum. smile.gif But I appeal to experts on insects: does anyone know what kind of midge is in the photo? eek.gif
PB150050_2.jpg
PB150048_2.jpg
I live in Ulyanovsk, that is, on the Middle Volga, but I have never seen such insects in my house or on the street before. Although I didn't really look closely. In the yard of November 15, however-in my opinion, there should no longer be any midges, and I counted 10 of them today.

15.11.2008 20:25, МаксимМЕ

From the photo, its size is not clear - about 5-7 mm from the "nose" to the tip of the "tail"

15.11.2008 20:33, Ilia Ustiantcev

This is definitely an obstacle ("wasp"), parasitic. Some specialist will determine up to the family.

15.11.2008 20:39, МаксимМЕ

And what is it eaten with? Or rather, who does he eat? And then somehow not comfortable-when you do not know who you are dealing with.

15.11.2008 21:18, Ilia Ustiantcev

Some small change. (insects there) Or maybe not even a parasite. In any case, it is definitely safe for you personally.

16.11.2008 15:35, IchMan

It is Megastigmus sp. (family Torymidae), not parasite, but phytophagous chalcid. It is developing in some seeds, mainly conifers.
Sorry for the ENglish, but it's not my computer - without Russian. I hate to use translit, so if it is not clear, can repeat in Russian later.

Hello everyone. I searched the entire forum, found a photo of my beetles, but I didn't read anything specific. Brown beetle, long max. 2 mm, does not crawl fast, does not fly long, does not bite, does not stink, does not get dirty, and does not seem to eat anything(furniture clothes). Crushed by the amount, crawls out in the evening to the light from the sconce on the wall and ceiling and hangs out there, it's easy to catch, we've already started collecting it with a vacuum cleaner, you can collect 50 pieces in the evening. He used to be 1-2 caught once a week when cleaning, on the windowsill.
Someone please tell me who-this is specifically, and how to lime. Can you provide a link to the topic in the forum

It's one of the grinders, either a tobacco bug or a bread grinder. If such a mass of beetles climbs, then you have a brood somewhere.
Tobacco beetle develops in various dried herbs - medicinal herbs in bags, dried spices, dried flowers and compositions of them, etc. Bread grinder in cereals, pasta and flour products, maybe in red pepper, mustard plasters, cedar cones, horse chestnut fruits... Search and throw it out, and if what these "creatures" have got is a pity, then in the cold (at least -10 and longer), they will perish

21.11.2008 11:38, Lykovka

Thanks to boshoe for the information. I will search, but these "creatures" live in a room where there are no products and dried herbs and cones I also do not stock up, but there is a closet with books and clothes, can they eat them? A chipboard ini accidentally sharpen (sort of monsters who like glue)? We have new furniture, maybe they brought it with them?

21.11.2008 12:19, Lykovka

I looked at the forum with a large photo of this bread, and something is somehow not like that: I have no whiskers, my legs are shorter, they are not visible from under the abdomen (they are caught in a jar sitting). Or are they young people who grow sawyers as they get older? I put them a cracker until they showed interest, although they haven't eaten since yesterday.

It means so! 1) You probably don't remember your school zoology course very well. Beetles belong to insects with the so-called full cycle of development (egg-larva-pupa-adult beetle). The adult beetle does not grow, and remains until the end of its short century of the size that nature awarded it when leaving the pupa. 2) Moreover, they do not grow a mustache, even tear them off, even bray lol.gif lol.gif. 3) You might not have considered the mustache, because the grinders bend them perfectly. 3) Determine by the description, especially given by a person who is not familiar, to put it mildly, with the topic, it is a thankless task. I need a photo.

21.11.2008 15:19, Dmitry Vlasov

Can't they crawl in from their neighbors? Furniture, especially chipboard, should not be eaten, but are there any "pads" made of vegetable fibers in upholstered furniture?... Where these grinders develop, there should be dust and whitish-gray C-shaped larvae... Search and destroy!!!

21.11.2008 15:27, Lykovka

Naturally, I don't understand beetles, zoology has long been forgotten, but I was joking about "young and adult" beetles. Sorry if this caused any annoyance, I won't do it again. And I will definitely take a picture of the beetle, I didn't find a good prof. fotik, on Monday I will post on the forum. Maybe then you can advise what to do? Oh please. Of course, I will diligently look for where the "vyplod" is going, but I'm not sure about the result. I have a child with asthma - every week a general cleaning, with vypylisosivaniem dust from all the cracks-and here it is.

21.11.2008 16:17, Victor Titov

I need a photo.

By the way, judging by the photo that you, dear Lykovka, attached to your first message, your beetles are indeed grinders smile.gif.

21.11.2008 16:23, Victor Titov

Maybe then you can advise what to do?

The surest way to remove grinders is to find a breeding site (development, food source) and eliminate it. It can be any cereals, dried mushrooms, dried fruits, dried medicinal plants, old books, etc. etc. Your beetles don't look too much like furniture grinders. In addition, as Elizar correctly noted, they can get into your home and from the neighboring apartment.

My bread grinders lived in parquet floors. After repairing the parquet and covering it with varnish, they disappeared.

21.11.2008 20:44, Ma Mantis

They don't even have a sting in the plant, they are not dangerous for you, don't get the little animals. If you want to remove it, remove the dampness and pieces of grub in the corners. They'll take offense and leave on their own. Do not resort to sadism, take pity on them. These are some of the most ancient insects smile.gif

21.11.2008 20:47, Ma Mantis

It looks like a winged hay eater of some kind. You can either eat mold in the damp corners behind the wallpaper, or the wallpaper itself, along with books. Dry your oars, Sirsmile.gif

21.11.2008 20:50, Ma Mantis

Clops don't eat beetles!!! And bedbugs don't smell like apples, but like expensive cognac... Dry it and sell it as a condiment!

21.11.2008 21:03, Ma Mantis

Sadists, a little something...potravit frown.gifThe same neighbors on the planet, and for you absolutely harmless! And pennies are just cicadas...

Judging by the tail filaments, it looks more like another bristletail - Thermobia domestica.

Here you are, for example, unlike other users of such frequent categories as what is this creature or how to get rid of this horror. Even the family described who they saw, already progress. Now it remains to take a closer look and love this insect again, or just ignore it, not cockroaches and fleas have finally come to you, but harmless cicadas.

24.11.2008 18:59, Трофим

too Ma_Mantis
Well, to be precise, pennies (Aphrophoridae) and cicadas (Cicadellidae) are two different families from the superfamily of cicadas (Cicadoidea), if I am not far behind the modern classification.

25.11.2008 8:19, Dmitry Vlasov

2VAZ And parquet from what types of wood? Because there are known "muddy" instructions about the development of bread grinders in willow dr and other soft ones, but parquet, as far as I know, is made of their hard breeds-oak, beech, etc.

25.11.2008 21:10, VAZ

I don't know what kind of wood was used for my parquet, but it's definitely not oak or beech. This is a Soviet parquet of the 60s. Light wood with a slightly reddish hue. Most likely coniferous.

I received correspondence from Nata and sent it to a specialist. The day after tomorrow, he said, he would look at them.
