Yes, it's true. In the Red Data Book of Russia and Ukraine. I don't know exactly about Russia, but for Ukraine it's the 2nd category.

I don't know about the Ukrainian Red Data Book, but they are definitely missing from the Russian one, and quite deservedly so: the Red Data Book is a list of threatened species, not just interesting, beautiful, cute, useful, etc.

With what stripes - transverse or longitudinal?
Fear has big eyes, but what if it's an Italian bug? smile.gif

And your fist is too small, too small... lol.gif Rest in peace to the poor man. They killed the dragon, the fiends.

31.01.2009 13:22, Ma Mantis

Just don't hit me, please. The creature is harmless to you, it will devour all your cockroaches. Yes, and beautiful.

31.01.2009 18:09, Victor Titov

I crushed one yesterday, but it was too big (the size of a woman's fist, if the paws were spread out, if it would have shrunk , it would have pulled on a ripe walnut).

part of the paws when crushed (the shell is quite hard, I had to knock 10 times) flew in different directions.

Yes, there are women in Ukrainian villages... mad.gif The elephant will be stopped at a gallop, and its trunk will be torn off... Why so much rage? And describes it with obvious pleasure. Sadism, that's all. I'm sorry about poor grasshopper...

This is a false scorpion. The creature is cute and completely harmless!

31.01.2009 23:08, NIKI2007

Thanks! I read it
http://www.zoo-news.ru/2008/03/05/knizhnye-skorpiony.html
"For settlement, they use an interesting passive method - phoresia: a false scorpion clings to a large insect, for example, a fly, and it takes it to unknown places..."
I went to show him "uncharted places"; 0). I'll make a waterfowl out of it!

God rest the soul of the unfortunate creature, an evil and far from entomological philistine in the unknown bowels of the flushed toilet! smile.gif

31.01.2009 23:54, NIKI2007

Oh, come on! We have a family with many children and we are afraid of unidentified "unfortunate creatures"! And it's not into these depths that I'm sending him.
I felt :0) that this line will not pass here.
And what if you decide to breed Pediculis humanus capitis? So you will show the perseverance of a "Regular participant in entomology"

I do not enter into correspondence, thank you all! We simply do not have the right conditions for the content of this "completely harmless": 0)))
And in general, the suffering have an hour to take away.

Good afternoon
help me determine what kind of beetle and what does it want ?
The first time I saw it was 2 weeks ago - I've been seeing it quite often for the last couple of days.
more often in the kitchen. But I also saw it in the hallway and in the bedroom.
PS I apologize for the empty topic. SQL failed eek.gif

This is a weevil from the barn weevil group, most likely a rice weevil. Lives in cereals (buckwheat, rice, etc.). Look for stocks, probably bought infected cereals in the store (now megastores are guilty of this). Throw out the croup, if you feel sorry for it - freeze it, and then either birds or pets. I don't recommend eating it myself...

05.02.2009 15:58, Fornax13

Go through the cereal supplies. This is a dryofluoride from the genus Sitophilus. M. b. S. oryzae-rice weevil.

thank you for your answers.
if you remove the cereal / rice, it will disappear after a while? Or should I help him ?
can it cause harm to a person or animal ?

Dear experts,
I have a huge request for you:
I am not an expert in entomology, but I am a resident of an ordinary apartment in Dnepropetrovsk.
we moved in four months ago.
with an enviable frequency, once a month, one small beetle gathers on my body in the late afternoon with the following external data:
a small oblong narrow beetle 2-3 mm long, dark brown in color. if you put pressure on it, it smells terrible (a mixture of carbolic acid with turpentine or some other rubbish).
who is this animal, what does it do, and how to get rid of it? Thank you!!!!!!
unfortunately, there are no photos.
before us, there was a dog in the apartment

thank you again!

If you remove the source of infection , it should disappear. There is no harm (physical) to a person and his pets, only spoilage of food supplies (cereals).

05.02.2009 16:54, Fornax13

Look for pictures of small flour crustaceans from the genus Tribolium.

very similar to these gavriks:

do they really stink on contact?

05.02.2009 17:14, guest: NPoleg

if this is them, then where do they live and how to save them?
and why once a month-they have such a cycle?

05.02.2009 17:45, REMnik

and what is this miracle?
I was looking for a weevil and found it. smile.gif
in the bedroom on the wall.
This is the first time I've seen it.

This is the skin-eating beetle Attagenus smirnovi. An ordinary apartment dweller. Larvae feed on all sorts of organic residues in dusty corners (under baseboards, etc.)

05.02.2009 18:07, Fornax13

Yes, they stink, like all darklings. Some quinones are released. Find the source and destroy it (it's no longer worth eating anyway) and they will be burned by themselves. I.e., look at the stocks of cereals, flour, and similar products.
No, they breed indoors all year round, I think.

Hello I saw a couple of beetles like this in the room a couple of times:

http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/7710/bugth1.jpg

they don't crawl very fast, they are thick and 5-6mm in size. In the photo, he hid his paws under him.

I would like to know what kind of animal it is and whether it is worth being afraid of it? smile.gif

It is a leatherworm from the genus Anthrenus. Only the size you probably specified is too big, it can't be 6 mm. Fear has big eyes wink.gif. Do not be afraid, the larvae of these beetles are dangerous for entomological collections, stuffed animals, etc. I do not think that they can cause serious harm if such objects are not in your apartment. And adult beetles generally feed on flowers (you can say, sweet smile.giftooth).

There's nothing to be afraid of. It is a leatherworm from the genus Anthrenus (type scrophulariae/picturatus). A common animal in homes. Larvae feed on various dry residues of animal origin: wool, hair, dry insects. You might find maggots in a dusty corner somewhere. Teardrop-shaped and thickly hairy. Here already about kozheedov so much ponapisali...
