1 Select a file on your computer.
2 Attach this file.
3 Check what happened.
4 Send it.
Good luck!

Now at the dacha on the apple tree I found some kind of green caterpillar, it is thin, a little transparent, you can see something dark inside. And it can also hang on its own web!!! Size: 2.2 cm. What kind of butterfly will it make?

04.07.2010 15:21, guest: илья

I have a green caterpillar with light longitudinal stripes in the jar. Found on monkshood, she eats it with pleasure. 2 days ago she started to weave a cocoon, and still has not pupated. Why?

06.07.2010 19:55, okoem

So it's too early for her yet. Some caterpillars are estevated for 4 to 5 months and do not pupate.

And if the caterpillar (linden hawk moth) does not eat, but does not bury itself in the sand, but simply rushes around and tries to crawl away somewhere? Is this really bad?

Is the caterpillar an adult? If so, then the caterpillars of many hawk moth should run a little before pupating. So that's fine.

15.07.2010 22:48, micronight

Like an adult. For some reason, it is buried, then dug out and turned from brownish to yellowish, and a little thread was let out.

on the honeysuckle I found a white caterpillar with a slight greenish tinge. She has large yellow dots on the sides of her body, and her head is large and black. The caterpillar is very slow, always hiding under the honeysuckle leaves, curled up. Size: 2 cm. Please tell me what kind of butterfly will come out of it, what conditions are needed for nutrition, growth and pupation?

Hello!
Today I accidentally witnessed how a female swallowtail (or maybe not a swallowtail, it was too much black on the hind wings) laid eggs. Due to the rush, we managed to find and bring home only two pieces on the cut branches of the plant.

The question is as follows. How to keep the find (in the light or in a dark box, whether it needs moistening) and how many days to expect the caterpillars to come out.
Thank you for your answers.

It is possible that the Swallowtail, once on the umbrella. If of course you are in the Palearctic.
Keep it naturally in the light, but not in direct sun. The plant needs moisture, the eggs need better ventilation. Put the fresh plant in water, and place the eggs (along with the pieces of leaves they are currently on) on it. Caterpillar yield in diaries is within 5-15 days. I don't know exactly how many Swallowtails have.

Good time of day. Friends, please tell me the period from pupation to butterfly in Cuculiinae. ~12-14 days, or am I wrong?
And also in Diaphora mendica?
Thank you all in advance.

Yesterday at 12 o'clock in the morning, Kaya came out of the pupa, but she still did not spread her wingsfrown.gif, the cage is large, she ate very actively before pupation, spraying 2 times a day.....What's my problem???

Tell me, how long does it take for a linden hawk moth to form a pupa before it leaves?
And then I have it lying for 2 weeks already, covered with sand, I don't even know if it's alive there at all or not. Maybe you need to wet the sand?

27.07.2010 8:08, bober

linden in the spring will only come out of the pupa (subject to normal wintering)

27.07.2010 11:33, Леонид14

I apologize, but can you tell me how the pupa of the oak hawk moth should overwinter? What should be the conditions?

27.07.2010 11:52, micronight

How about a normal wintering season?

27.07.2010 12:19, bober

cold, on the balcony

27.07.2010 12:24, vasiliy-feoktistov

And it is necessary to moisturize (now at least in the spring).

28.07.2010 23:39, vaskar

Yesterday (or the day before?) hatched from the above testicles are these caterpillars.

They usually come out in the spring.

(Can you tell me how much time will pass before the first molt?)

If you will warm the lamp, and constantly fresh food, then usually 5-7 days!

dear forumchane, there was a question about the content of the caterpillar Deilephila elpenor: is it normal that it does not want to burrow into the soil?? instead, she wove a cocoon of bedstraw stalks on the surface. I read somewhere that hawk moth needs darkness for successful pupation, and this confused me, because a light cocoon is not a barrier to light.
and another thing: if you artificially create a diapause for it in a refrigeratorsmile.gif, how soon after pupation can it be placed there?

Normally, the main thing is not to touch the cocoon and cover it with some torn soft toilet paper. As for the refrigerator: I have a wine cellar in the Moscow region that comes out steadily in the middle of winter without any diapause (just on the windowsill there is a cage).
P.S. Here is the proof found: http://molbiol.ru/forums/index.php?showtop...dpost&p=1014670 Good luck.

It is a pity that releasing a free woman in the middle of winter, alas, will not work. smile.gif
Although at a temperature of +34 in the shade, I will wait for the butterfly this year.

Well, wait. It will be displayed. Hawk moth is very frequent (at least in the Moscow region)..

Judging by the photos, your caterpillars have already had 2 successful molts - in the photo of the caterpillar L3
