How dangerous is the trip (in terms of the situation in the country)? What is the attitude to newcomers, especially to such strange ones as entomologists? Do not press local law enforcement officers?

The situation in the country is generally favorable and respectful to Russians.But political "gratings" periodically occur.Over the past two years, there have been military clashes in Khorog involving the army, Pamiris,Tajiks and drug traffickers.Along the entire length of Panj(400 km),the white men's documents will be checked at every traffic police and military border post.Without permits,you will not be able to catch and export natural objects freely, if only in small numbers,at your own risk.

The photos are good , but the fishing reports have too much weight on the topic. More collections are required, rather than species, otherwise it seems that there are no insects there .
We all go for rides in the same places – we're all worn out. At least someone would write a report on the collection of insects in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Well, at least impassable Tajikistan .

There was not a single report about Tigrovaya Gulch . Just rumors. Reports about interesting places are made not just for applause , but in order to interest others . And if you need to give advice on how to do it, right down to contact persons and ZHPS data.

Kyrgyzstan, April-May-early June 2015. Until the beginning of June (numbers up to 8), the weather was simply terrible, almost every day it rained, strong winds, at night it was either cold, or so cool that night fishing is almost impossible. It became really hot only in the first decade of June. Years of butterflies are strongly shifted (fresh Aricia agestis and Melanargia parce in the pictures-taken yesterday; respectively, the years are shifted at least 2 weeks for the second species, and 3 for the first). The summer promises to be interesting: in July, apparently, there will be a major "surge" of biodiversity - both what should be trampled and what was delayed will be trampled.

Almost in parallel with the expedition of Stas, with a lag of 5 days, from July 5 to July 18, we also rode in Kazakhstan-I, Mikhail (Mickey), Sergey (yupidu) and our guide and driver Kostya. I will immediately note that we have never met such a" frostbitten " driver and guide in a good sense. Super! I went everywhere, they said up means up, and the fact that there is no road in nature to the Kumbel Pass, so it doesn't matter! The route from Alma-Ata lay on Zharkent (Usek River), then we moved to the Assy plateau and Turgenev Gorge. They refused to check in to Ili, because by the time we were scheduled to check in there, there was a terrible heat wave up to plus 45 in the afternoon in the shade and there was a mass flight of mosquitoes. They spent most of their time in National Parks, where no one cared about people with nets. It took 4 days to get to the right place on the Usek. At first, we also came across that dead end, the photo with the bridge and the name of the river of which is in the report of Stas. In general, we did not sit at the planned points, but moved from place to place in small runs. As a result of the trip, I found out the following:
1-catching bears is the most ungrateful (7 types of real bears in two weeks)
2-Kazakhstan, katokal country (about 10 species caught). All caught catocals were evenly distributed by fishing methods-a third on a standard screen, a third on a UV light trap, and a third on a bait. In total, more than 50 specimens were caught, which is quite good for this group.
3-Kazakhstan, country of woodworms (10 to 15 species caught)
4-Cucullia do not live here in July, despite the widespread sagebrush (7 species with only 8 pieces)
5-barbels are absent in southern Kazakhstan in July. In general, there were almost no beetles.
6-apollo, mnemosyne and delphius in the same clearing, the first two species are fresh, delphius is flying.
7-the region of briseides and similar satyrs. The most popular group of butterflies.
8-altitude 3000 m, cold night, plus 4 in strong winds and the best summer scoop for the trip.
9-the most massive butterflies at night-moth, which were not taken, because there is no one.
10-a total of 15 species of hawk moth, of which the most interesting were a pair of male and female pygmy kuljensis.
11-prices for almost everything in Russia and above.
12-the more beautiful and promising a place looks, the worse it flies at night.
