15.09.2012 18:48, Lev Bely: comment on Butterflies and music: Leyanis Lopez, Como La Mariposa

Guantanamo is curiously not only a butterfly hotspot, but also the birthplace of Leyanis Lopez and, later, of her song 'Como La Mariposa'. She has the sort of voice that prompts you to surrender immediately, and with no resistance. If there could be any, honestly? Leyanis Lopez, Como La Mariposa (Como La Mariposa, 1998)

11.09.2012 19:41, Lev Bely: comment on Guantanamo's beasts: 51 butterfly species registered at the US naval base

Researchers from the Florida Museum of Natural History documented 51 butterfly species at the Guantanamo bay US naval base, Cuba. The local wildlife surprisingly turned to be rather rich and abundant with different species. The naval base, which is spread over about 120 square kilometers in the southeast corner of Cuba, was leased to the US in 1903, and its territory is still not developed ...

There is nothing to confuse with. Another similar species, Synaphe diffidalis, can't be around your hood. So don't doubt, this is the species variability. You've got neat butterfly shots, nice to identify. :)

08.09.2012 16:47, Lev Bely: comment on Butterflies and music: Malcolm McLaren, Madame Butterfly

Same was his 'Madame Butterfly' song based on the homonymous opera, arranged in his way with drum machines and atmospheric synthesizers. Why ...

06.09.2012 22:30, Lev Bely: comment on Forest Zoology, Hunting and Entomology Museum, Saint Petersburg

But also this is the perfect time for visiting museums where the season is open all year round: to gaze for hours at bugs, compare specimens, count insect legs — namely, to make yourself ready for the next season hard ...
