  • Papilio fuscus prexaspes. [PC81].

Imago Habitus and Differences from alike species

  • Wingspan 80-95 mm. This spesies, UP black, HW with a white discal patch of usually 5 spots in spaces 3-7, UnF with a white postdiscal spot in space 1b, UnH the creamy-white discal spots usually present in all spaces, but those are short in spaces 1b, 2, 3 and 7, and being outwardly bordered by narrow blue streaks.
    The yellow submarginal lunules are more prominent in andamanicus than in prexaspes.
    The habitas of P. prexaspes are restcted to mangrove forest where there are plenty of semi-shaded areas, in the penincular Thailand. While the habitats of the next spesies, P. pitmani are confined to more opened areas of deciduous forest, nearby the streams, higher altitudes of about 600-700 meters above the sea level.
    They are more or less the same habitats as those of P. castor mahadeva. [144].
