This is Sceliphron deforme. And how far north he had already traveled...

Is this what is called Sceliphron deforme atripes (Morawitz, 1888)?

Good People! I'm trying to make a macro shot of common hornets (if that's what they are in the photo).
Does anyone have any experience with hornets?. In the Internet on this topic is too contradictory-from full taps (zhmurov) to light tingling. What to believe? Thank you.

Move slowly, pretend to be a log, maybe it will be enough.

I, as a child in the country, watched the hornets closely during the season, i.e. each time literally 15-20 cm from the face to the tap was selected. Never been bitten.

Another time, in the forest, he was very careless with them when he took the nest. Got under the eye, not pleasant enough, very painful, like a strong blow, then burns, but not fatally and without consequences.

In Malaysia, I was severely bitten by a hornet(one of the five attackers I couldn't fend off) when I decided to ask what became of their nest after being burned by the locals. smile.gif An open ulcer formed, which lasted for more than a week. What if they had bitten me more?!...

This is indeed a female Ectemnius. But it is not enough to determine the appearance of visible signs-at least it would not hurt to specify the dimensions. rolleyes.gif

Most likely, the female is Prionyx stschurowskii (Radoszkowski, 1877) [Hymenoptera, Sphecidae].

I don't insist. In Cataglyphis, the abdomen is glabrous, while these have bristles.

Actually, it is a fly - most likely Rainieria calceata (Fallen, 1820) [Diptera, Micropezidae]. rolleyes.gif
The female's body length (excluding long legs) is not more than 12-15 mm, but may be slightly less.
