2 Double A: I think #2 is Sphingonotus sp. (somewhat reminds me of Sph. nebulosus persa from Armenia), # 3 is Acrotylus sp.

Thanks! Isn't # 1 similar to # 2?

Several Israeli straight-winged birds. Can you help me?

I have a book on Israeli locusts in London - if they don't decide by autumn, then I'll take a look.

It is similar and even, possibly, from the same genus (by the way, quite large) - but the species, I think, is different.

Is it possible to define these erect-winged birds to a species???

Place of training: Penza region, Tamalinsky district, Stepnaya balka near the village of Varvarino, end of June. Due to the winter heat, erect wings are developing very rapidly and judging by the bulavous butterflies, there are already species that were previously released no earlier than the end of July-beginning of August!?

Biotopes of the following species:
1. In the mass - on the top of steppe foreheads in dried-up grasshoppers.
2. On a steppe slope among shrubs and steppe grasses.
3. In the lower grassy part of the beam.

Vlad, thank you! And what, I have good collections of grasshoppers and sawtails from the territory of the Penza region-it is possible to accurately determine them (you can even write a joint message about them to Eversmania or Anikin) from photos from the collection!? Or is it better to transfer the fees to the Lavra, the Moscow State University Zoo Museum or ZIN !?

You can try smile.gif

Now ZINA doesn't have a locust specialist - in my opinion, I'm almost the only one left in St. Petersburg (I hope I'm wrong, though). With grasshoppers and crickets, you can try to contact A.V. Gorokhov - if he has the time. In principle, I am also suitable for identifying material from the European part of Russia shuffle.gif

Most likely, Chorthippus apricarius-although it would be better if the elytra were visible.

Since you need elytra, I'll post the second half of the photo:).
You can't see very well, but at least something...

Venation is still not visible - but the fact that apricarius-there is no special doubt.

I also shot someone in Israel. Maybe you've met some of them and can identify them? It's very large. A sort of filly.

And a nymph of some sort user posted image

The rest, which are in the photo above, I also shot. Those gray ones with red wings jump in large numbers in the fields and in the eucalyptus forest.
There were also some fun little acrids that looked like straws, but they didn't want to be filmed.

Locusta migratoria, they're already there..

09.08.2010 10:43, Инесса

Yes, it is 100% Gampsocleis glabra. And their spots may be poorly expressed...

09.08.2010 10:48, Инесса

There is even an opinion (not mine personally) that On. servillei and On. laxmanni are one type. They also differ in the S-shaped bend of the front back.

09.08.2010 11:42, Инесса

Euhorthippus pulvinatus

12.08.2010 16:23, grasshopper

Has anyone seen this form of Onconotus servillei ? (Streltsovskaya Steppe, 27/07/2010 )

A nice-colored nymph.

The largest and most interesting of the jumpers found there were akrids. smile.gif And indeed bicolor-I saw both brown and green.

Grasshopper from the tribe Copiphorini of the subfamily Conocephalinae. For example, representatives of the genera Ruspolia and Neoconocephalus have approximately the same appearance.
