We bought mash in Auchan. It was in a bag, in a box with other products. Suddenly I see beetles walking around the apartment. I open the drawer, and everything moves.
I collected and disposed of everything. But some of these friends have already run away and are now wandering around the kitchen.
Please help me! Is this a Chinese grain? What else can she eat within the apartment? Will they take a break without food plants, or will they be with us forever?)

zernovka cheterykhpyatnistaya Callosobruchus maculatus, by the way a quarantine species for the Russian Federation ))))
Chinese zernovka is similar. You need to look at the sides of the abdomen, if there are no bright clear spots, then she definitely does not
Like legumes, especially the mash indicated by you, and also feels good on chickpeas and beans. I don't think they will live there for long.

Can anyone tell me how Blaps distinguish male from female? Caught in the vicinity of Minvod in the steppe under a stone (biotope-corn field) two blaps, I sit - stupid. They are difficult for me to define. But it turns out to be different in appearance. Arched depression at the base of the pronotum - what is this sign? Can it point to someone?
The process of the legs in front of the claws is not triangular, the first segment of the hind legs is asymmetrical with longer setae inside. The abdomen of both is without bristle-bearing spots.
I have a mortisaga (broadcaster) caught under the boards in the yard of a private house. So the right one is somewhat similar to it.
I don't know if mortisaga is found in the steppes. I think maybe one of them is halofila or letifera?
Caught on 03.05.2016, 6 km east of Mineralnye Vody, Stavr. kr.

Maybe Hoplia golovjankoi. They crawl on the ground,so they fall into glasses and traps.
I also thought so at first, but in all the determinants it is written that they have small claws on the front and middle legs are not split. And these ones on the front are definitely split, I looked. Well, on the lane of the shins there are two prongs of the same.
I tried to determine them by different keys, but I can't understand what it is.

More about Hoplia. There is an article like this on the Internet: https://www.zin.ru/animalia/coleoptera/pdf/...koi_ukraine.pdf
The beetles depicted there are, yes, similar to mine. But they (the first one for sure) have only two teeth on their front shins. I don't know who to believe. confused.gif

23.06.2016 21:49, AGG

maybe the teeth on the shins are a sexual sign wink.gifwrite to Sasha Dergalev (=Dergg), or better yet Bogdan Vasko (he seems to work in the Far East now and loves Hoplia very much, unfortunately I can't find his soap at home)
