Good day to all! Tell me, please, how likely is it that the elytra in the above photo are the elytra of staphylinae? Elytra from the stomach of a finch found dead near the Gastok riverbed (extreme north-west of the Volozhinsky district of the Minsk region, Republic of Belarus) on 26.04.2014. Thank you all in advance.

Calodromus possible ?mellyi, male. Family Brentidae smile.gif
3cmlol.gif, beetles are measured from the head to the tip of the belly.

no.gif The body length of weevils is usually indicated without taking into account the cephalotube. I.e., from the line connecting the anterior edge of the eyes to the top of the abdomen (or elytra)

the photo is terrible, but even from it you can understand that this is not a case of paduchka. this is zernovka. most likely bruchus atomarius. try in any editor to re-light the photo and if you get a red base of the mustache, then this is it. true, she also has red calf feathers. well, or a banal spermaphagus

it's a long way to go for crepidoders right now, but it's too pale for Fulvicornis, although it's a very variable species with a large range
