There is no date of the photo frown.gifif the photo of the last days is Agriopis aurantiaria, like the monitor lizard Agriopis budashkini (known from the Crimea and the Mediterranean Sea)
If the photo is spring, then Agriopis marginaria is most likely.

- Date of the photo under the snapshot....
"Then what can it be?"

The date is clear smile.gif, autumn.
It means one of two things: Agriopis aurantiaria, as a monitor lizard
Agriopis budashkini in these species, the females are very similar, but here in Ukraine, these species do not overlap their ranges: Agriopis aurantiaria in mainland Ukraine, Agriopis budashkini in the Crimea, which species is in the North Caucasus I do not know, but it is difficult for females to determine, and by males are also smile.gif

For KCR according to the catalog, the blue is A. aurantiaria, and the female is similar (on the German lepiforum such).

- Thank you! - I looked at the photos of males on the Internet, and from memory I came to the conclusion that this is the second one, since I know it visually, and I didn't see the first one at all. (It is clear that I may be wrong).

Andrey, the Sinev catalog was published in 2008, and Agriopis budashkini Kostjuk, 2009 was described only in 2009. Now Agriopis budashkini is already known, as I wrote, in the Mediterranean countries and in Asia Minor. Moreover, according to old finds, the difference in species was well confirmed by barcoding. For this reason, I consider the question of the specific identity of Caucasian spans of the aurantiaria group to be open.

I agree, I'm behind the times smile.gifPerhaps Zhenya Tsvetkov, who worked on the Caucasus moth, would have clarified this question... although he might not have explored the late-autumn ones. Unfortunately, it is quite difficult to contact him and Mironov, otherwise there would be more information.

Yes, you're obviously right. See the attached photo, where the dubious specimen was taken for comparison along with the more typical Xestia xanthographa color of the front wings, but dark hind.
Last September, a mass of Xestia xanthographa flew to the balcony and entrance of our five-story building. Their characteristic feature was a rich variety of colors from light beige tones to dark brown, almost hiding the pattern of the wings.
What do you say? Is it confidently X. xanthographa?
