Yes, you're obviously right. See the attached photo, where the dubious specimen was taken for comparison along with the more typical Xestia xanthographa color of the front wings, but dark hind.
What do you say? Is it confidently X. xanthographa?

I can't say for sure, I just don't see any other options, you need to twist it in your hands to say more or less accurately, and even better to cook it. If you do not cook, then to X. xanthographa with a question. smile.gif
Maybe someone will have a different opinion.

Thank you. There were no fewer questions... confused.gif
Then, is this also Adela croesella? A male? (taken in the same place at the same time)
picture: 8.JPG

And this one, too? Or is it Nemophora degeerella? Tver region, Torzhoksky district, der. Eremkino. 1.07.2012
These people have very long whiskers - four times longer than a butterfly.

To me, these are all Nemophora degeerella males. The whiskers of males of these genera are much longer than the wings.
Nemophora degeerella is the largest species of the Adelidae and is at least one and a half times larger than Adela croesella. The yellow transverse sash narrows in the center and is wider than the purple ones bordering it, and in Adela croesella the yellow sash without narrowing, slightly expands from the lower edge of the wing to the costal one and already has purple sashes.
Somewhere like this.

If indoors, then Tineola bisselliella. If in nature, then it is already under a big question.

At least in the lists of 4,8 and 9 of the region, there are no more monophonic species of this color.

And how do I respond in monosyllables? smile.gif
1. Why randomly? Just Agapeta hamana.
2. If Acleris effractana has not yet been found in Russia, then this is Acleris emargana. If they are found, then they do not differ in appearance from one of the two.

Purely visually, there is something in common, but this genus is not given for Sakhalin. I would generally take this picture for Alsophilloides, but again it is unknown for Sakhalin. The only option is to send the photo to E. A. Belyaev, preferably with a copy, so that there is something to cook.
In my opinion - the classic E. golda, and a dark variation of color.

Since I found pictures of Pterotocera, I compared them visually with folded wings. If you read the work of Dyakonov's Apricot moth, then the antennae do not seem to fit. What about Alsophilloides? By the way, it is not specified for Sakhalin and Pterotocera. Pyadenits was two of them, but one got away. I didn't think that such gray nondescript ones were so interesting.
I will try to contact the respected Belyaev, but a year ago he did not answer.
Thanks for the definition by E. golda. And yet you found the answer to your question, what is the difference from Erannis jacobsoni? A characteristic break in the line, steeper instead of smoother?

21.10.2016 12:12, Bianor

Early spring and late autumn fauna are always very interesting, because no one does any expeditions at this time. Fees are usually random and small in number. Regular collection in April and September-October can provide a lot of interesting material.
Far Eastern Erannisses differ reliably only in their genitals. Gold is more variable in color and shape of bandages - sometimes with straight lines, sometimes with strongly curved ones, it gives a lot of variations, in addition, it is much more numerous at least in those points where I managed to collect them. In fact, the only sign of Jacobsoni is only the approach of the sling to the rear corner of the wing.

This is an off-topic question.
How big the photo on the computer monitor turned out and how it is with the quality in terms of resolution . And then my computer died and I uploaded a photo from my smartphone. On a smartphone, it obscenely crawls over the right edge of the forum. When I uploaded photos from my smartphone to my computer before, they didn't look so huge.
