Scirpophaga xanthopygata

Thank you Vlad! I'll be honest: I've never seen such a beast before, and we have it for Sowing. It doesn't seem to be marked in the Caucasus yet. Tell me: could it be the more widespread Scirpophaga praelata? Does it have external morphological differences with Scirpophaga xanthopygata? cool.gif

1. - From this angle of shooting, and even from the female, it can be argyrognomon, idas, or argus.
2. - It looks like M. athalia, but to be sure of the definition, you need to conduct a genital analysis.

I didn't understand. I am located in Asia (south-west of the Stavropol Territory). So , I have both of these types on the CMS? Or do you mean to say that it is definitely Ochlodes sylvanus?

The range of O. venatus species in the territory of the Russian Federation is the Amur region, Primorye, Sakhalin, and the Kuril Islands. In other words, the Far East. You have O. sylvanus.

Well, you learned geography very well at school smile.gif. There are a lot of versions for the North Caucasus: Europe or Asia. You also have only one species, Ochlodes sylvanus.
The second one is only on DV https://insecta.pro/taxonomy/23090
Confusion due to the fact that for a long time these names were confused and European butterflies, Caucasian too, were called venatus.
This is described in detail here below, but in German: http://www.lepiforum.de/lepiwiki.pl?Ochlodes_Sylvanus

Do I understand correctly that Celypha rosaceana is on top and rufana is on the bottom? Yellow-green spots on the back of the first butterfly-this is apparently an element of the drawing, I saw another one at night. In general, I noticed that with the removal of warm air from the south, Pestovo often throws all sorts of atypical Celypha, or they just climb out only on very warm nights.

Hello! Is it possible to determine the type of butterfly from the image?
Western Siberia. Middle Ob region. Nizhnevartovsk district, the neighborhood of Pokachi.
On forest-growing zoning on the border of the north and Middle Taiga subzones. On an elevated position, on a well-drained sandy podzolic soil in a lingonberry-bagulberry pine forest. On the forest floor among shrubs, moss-lichen and herbaceous vegetation.
It is about 1 cm long (without whiskers) and has a wingspan of about 2 cm.
