Tell me whose cocoon this is. It was found in the Moscow region on August 17.
The structure is similar to a very dense wad of cotton wool-with difficulty tore with his fingernails.
PS and how was it necessary to create the message "new topic" or how was it created - "new survey"?
I hardly figured out how to send anything at all.

Thanks! Yes, exactly the same as Liparus assembled. And there were a lot of them, too. But on Pyrochroa coccinea with The Zinovsky site not exactly like it.

By color! But I already looked at other sites, 99.9% is still Pyrochroa coccinea.

Yeah, colors in photos are one of the most unreliable characteristics! In that image from ZIN, the colors are very much over-timed (the author unsuccessfully fought with the white balance curve - this is noticeable in the overall color scheme), plus images are often additionally "improved"during publication: to taste, contrast is added and, possibly, saturation, maybe something else...

I had a good time coming to this discussion. It must be the first (yellow) insect from the same family. And the second (meat-colored) tell me, please, who. Both were photographed on 09.11.2013 in the Moscow region.

But the first one looks like Schizotus pectinicornis (rounded cerci). See here: http://markgtelfer.co.uk/beetles/pyrochroidae/

I wonder if it is possible to determine what kind of butterfly this caterpillar is. There should be a dustpan, but I would like to be more specific. Taken in the Moscow region on June 23.

Please tell me, knowledgeable people, whether I correctly identified the name of the scooper caterpillar as Axylia putris.
It was found under the foliage on a fallen tree trunk on 23.11.2013 in the Moscow region. In general, such caterpillars are often found, but only now I thought about what to call her smile.gif.

This one was radically black, velvety to the touch.

I looked at a photo of Eupsilia transversa caterpillars very much, in the last age. You've got a good eye! With white spots, just like him. So fluffy!
