good afternoon,
please help me determine the type of caterpillar. With the children, we want to try to bring it to the state of a pupa.. :-)

found on a chrysanthemum in a bouquet of flowers (there were a variety of flowers and greens too) . Egypt.

thank you in advance.

This is what the Helicoverpa armigera tracks look like. It probably is.

The information is like this-eats anything. For pupation, it is buried in the soil.

Take a look at (Caterpillar-12), maybe you can help with the definition ?

There is a general similarity, but there are many differences between spodmarennikov - almost black and small yellow dots, which are not present in any of the photos found by the search engine.

Take a look here http://babochki-kryma.narod.ru/

There is also a black one (I come across mostly green ones), but I also got its imago from the black one.
And the pictures? Here's your caterpillar: http://www.lifeisphoto.ru/photo.aspx?id=444327
Do not hesitate (the caterpillar varies greatly).

Yes, and the request should be made by the Latin name (Hyles galii). Here's what the same Yandex finds for me: http://images.yandex.ru/yandsearch?text=hy...lii&stype=image

Convinced. Thank you. I'll try to feed them and bring them out. I've been doing this for 13 years...

It seems to have already been displayed on the forum. Sorry, I didn't find it. It was found in the soil without a cocoon when digging on a garden plot in September in the ROC. Krasnoyarsk.

Unfortunately, the caterpillar has suffered a misfortune.

Another one. In the same place, in July. Fortunately, she pupated safely. Obviously, it will winter.

So it was already like this. №8, Archiearis parthenias. Is not it so?

If it was there, then it is not Archiearis Archiearis parthenias. Other number of false legs.

If it was there, then it is not Archiearis Archiearis parthenias. A different number of false legs.

Why different? Both caterpillars have two pairs shuffle.gif

26.10.2010 20:47, Sungaya

I put it wrong. Both caterpillars are then not Archiearis parthenias.
The first photo does not show whether there are legs or not, and Archiearis parthenias has three pairs of false legs - like mud-in addition to pushers.

26.10.2010 21:00, Sungaya

Here's the question : can the number of false legs vary at different stages of caterpillar development in the same species?

Found it! And the legs, and the stripes, and the white dots, and even the red spiracles-everything is in place!

What a long and difficult road to the truth!
Without your help, I would never have been able to correctly identify

27.10.2010 7:53, gumenuk

I would also like to identify this pink one. Due to the unusual color and size (about 4 cm), I took 12 frames. Previously marked in the scoops section.
I've never seen one before.

I have it. My arrays are divided into different categories - otherwise I'll get confused and find nothing: there are already more than 100 thousand images of the animal and plant world

I found a photo of the caterpillar on the Internet - everything matches, except for the color (maybe mine ate something wrong). I will consider it certain. Thank you very much!

Not this year. Later, when I deal with the butterflies (with the help of site users), I will display unidentified ones from my archives, unfortunately, there is enough of this stuff there weep.gif

The color of the caterpillars is scoop, this is just not a reliable sign. Firstly, some species have different color forms of caterpillars, and secondly, before pupation, the caterpillars can change color.

IMHO, one of the countless color forms of H. armigera.

The larva of a skin-eating beetle of some sort.
About the "deadness": if this is your photo, then you don't have to ask.

Help us determine what kind of creature was in our apartment. My wife found it for the first time about six months ago in a cat's basin. Yesterday, the same thing was caught in the kitchen sink. The length is about 2 cm. We're scaredsmile.gif
