Maybe (just the color of the brushes confused). Is it then antiqua?

It seems that the color of the brushes is very variable. think Orgyia antiqua.

After our return to Moscow from Croatia, the suitcase was left unzipped in the apartment for two days. On the third day, pupae(?)were found between the towels. 8-9 mm long, 5 mm diameter, black color, 8 pieces. What do you think, is it imported or local?
Before leaving, towels were washed and dried outside the window. From the moment they were packed in a suitcase to the discovery of "guests" in them, 75 hours passed.
There were no spoiled food items in the suitcase. There were freshly boiled seashells with a slight smell of dried fish. In your opinion, the" penetration " happened already at home, or is it still imported? What should I do with them? And is it worth looking for "parents" in the apartment?
Thanks!

pupae of some kind of flies.
what attracted them I do not know, our or their same is not clear. Only one thing is clear - you can just crush them and throw them away )

17.09.2010 14:11, Victor Titov

There were freshly boiled seashells with a slight smell of dried fish.

Most likely, the shells became their source:" in the curls " at the tops of the shells, pieces of mollusk flesh could remain, which are quite sufficient for the development of fly larvae. So they pupated.

I have already met a caterpillar twice within Moscow (outskirts, Southern Administrative District) almost in the same place (with a difference of several years) (there are no photos, but I give descriptions): the size is 5-6 cm, the body seems to consist of hemispheres (like smooth, without visible hairs), the color is lilac, with a lighter belly and a dark head.
Tell me, what kind of caterpillar is this?
UPD? ops, sorry. I dug around here on the forum-treetop odorous this is called

The pupa of a moth with a different mustache. More precisely, in my opinion, it is not possible to determine.

It looks like it's someone from the Acronicta family. Possible - A. leporina

No, it's not wet,and I didn't gel it). There are other angles, but I can't find it yet from 30,000 photos on the computer, I'll find it out, it was in the grass,it doesn't look like a bear, this little red one,I took the picture on a large scale, the caterpillar is 3 cm long, or even smaller.

04.10.2010 0:02, okoem

No not wet

Why not wet? There, on the left side of the hair fluffy, and on the right - stuck together. Is not it so?
It doesn't look like A. leporina -

No,not her, exactly.Well, I can't say 100% that it's not wet,I took her home to take a picture the next day, and she dropped these needles and became bald, dropped them in bundles at once they were so stuck together and too lazy,I let her go, I didn't even take pictures without needles, it wasn't interesting, but a couple of them still stuck out so unphotogenic.Well, if you abstract and imagine it dry, then it would look like this, maybe it is, I even have almost no doubt, the hair color and shine are exactly the same, I apologize if it turns out that this is a bear http://www.google.com.ua/imgres?imgurl=htt...%26tbs%3Disch:1

I think I've solved the riddle! jump.gif
This horned super caterpillar is Araschnia levana. In this case, the plant is probably Parietaria sp. (postennitsa).

Well, yes, Levana is most similar in horns.
I brought Araschnia levana out of the tracks myself. But levana did not have such a bright coloring on the sides, its spikes were not pure black, but brown (although on that site they are black too) And most importantly, the levana caterpillar is covered with small white dots just like a peacock's eye.

By the way, levana has a very cool "gait"... or a crawl smile.gif
Her head sways from side to side, and if she had shoulders, you would say that she jerks her shoulders in time with the movement. All this is reminiscent of the rhyme "Goes the bull swings..."
And yet, Jim Carrey in the movie Ace Ventura walked exactly like smile.gifthis
