Plakor - a watershed plain area between neighboring gullies or river valleys. As if "riverine" forests and upland forests are two opposites.

Help me decipher the label! Yunnan, Shangri-la, but what's next?

90 km S of Zhongdian. Shangri La here refers to a county.

This year will be the 30th anniversary of my entomological research...
Naturally, during this time, my entomological label has significantly evolved in the direction of increasing the text and font clarity, for rare copies of insects I try to use higher-density photocopy paper (160 g / m)... I still enter the date with an expensive, high-quality black pen (writing in black Moscow ink with a feather pen is very troublesome and time-consuming)... True, I will make a reservation on this label, an expensive high-quality capillary was used...
This is roughly how my label began to look (again, I'll make a reservation now the font has changed somewhat - it has become clearer and slightly larger...the line with biotope, on the contrary, has lost weight...).

and we totally switched to English-language versions with the Jps string. the material becomes more accessible without translation and related errors. Language and abbreviations also reduce the number of characters (Reg, distrrprov, env). As usual, the standard ecological label does not have enough energy and diversity already taken into account when printing. well, if in the most abbreviated form.view - display of the edge of the forest, type of forest. only for breeding-feed is a pity to lose.

Again I'm asking for help. Material in the ZIN, labels on the right. Could this be the collection time? If the numbers on the left are clearly written, then on the right it reads either uj or vi. It is unlikely that you can write the 6th month by hand not as VI, but as vi, and even with a dot. Or is it some kind of service label, such as the instance number in the collection?

June; and put your doubts down to the peculiarities of handwriting. By the way, Roman numbering is written in both uppercase and lowercase, here is clearly the second option (clearly a small five leaves no doubt), hence the dot over the unit.
Just in case about the characters:

Colleagues, can you tell me if there are any recommendations on the distance between the label and the belly of the insect/die?

As far as I understand, the purpose of maintaining this distance is so that you can read the label and see the insect from below (if it is without a die or on a transparent die).

Should I increase this distance if the die is opaque?

I don't know anything about the dies, but for the impaled ones, the top label should be placed not too far from the feet to protect them from breaking. If something is not visible, you can move it down for review, and then return it back.

P. S. Thought: if you have to glue on the die, then why not make it more authentic and not sculpt the label directly on it?

Apparently, labels are not molded on dies to save space.

Given the fact that small beetles are often glued to huge dies, space savings are questionable.

Good afternoon!

I was going to reformat my old Catocala collection.
I found one copy with an incomplete label. I received it
from time immemorial personally from A.V. Nekrasov when I visited him.

This is Neglecta, and apart from "Isty-Su" I couldn't copy the bottom line
on the Nekrasov label. Who knew it well and its routes, M. B.
Can you tell me where this place is? A web search gives only the resort of Isti-Su
in Azerbaijan, but it is impossible to find this cp-Asian species
there.

The network also lists both the Chechen Republic and Dagestan for this name.
In the last line, nothing can be guessed yet, except for some Ghazarian, and even then with a large correction for obvious inconveniences when writing...

General assumption: if a date is already placed after the dot, then it is less likely to return to geography in the next line than the last name of the importer.

Let the seeker find.

No, this is a fishing method: cat fishing.
It happens: in the light, mowing, and you have a cat.
In Asia, cormorants catch fish.

Absolutely not. In this case, the specimen was obtained by the cat and on the initiative of the cat, and not that it, like a cormorant, was incited on a string ... NO INFRINGEMENT OF THE COPYRIGHT OF CATS!!!

... Give me beer, give me honey,
Let my stomach drop,
Give me "dough" now, I
'll make "raskolbas",
Teach me to live beautifully,
I'm tired of your beer,
So what are you silent about?
You're all assholes anyway!... eek.gif

Oh, this should be translated into mov and designated as the new national anthem of Ukraine! And then the current one is too depressing.
