Some dubious expression smile.gif"Good selection" somehow cuts the ear, usually this expression is applied to publications, music or video works.
When you catch many specimens with "sweat and blood"smile.gif, sometimes in terrible conditions, and not all catocals just fly and land on the screen, but you need to come up with various tricks to catch them... Slava, did you want to tease me or did you put it badly? Can you tell me where else I can "pick up" the missing copies? smile.gif And by the way, where is your good selection of thin shells, really interesting to see.

Why the dubious expression??) I didn't want to tease anyone. My selection of thin shells is still standing and waiting for me to have time to shoot smile.gifit as soon as possible, so immediately!

I dismantled the last box before the start of the new season. Mottled spilarctins. There are some good views.

Chelotrupes - all types [attachmentid ()=239493]

It is interesting to see when so many new species are being discovered among the rather noticeable and large beetles now (and this is not long ago), and even in Europe.

I'm talking about these, if anything:

I finally broke the milestone of 500 species in the collection! It took 5 years.

On joy decided povyveshivat part of the available. Chur, we don't comment on funny "Russian" names. This is for a less prepared audience and for kids))

I'm a lousy photographer, don't blame me:

By family - this is from another opera.
This is a collection of large beautiful beetles, so it was born in the imagination of the author and the idea was executed simply brilliantly. If it's not some kind of Photoshop. Although Photoshop is so weak.
Speaking of aesthetics. All beetles are chipped. The glue guys are crying their eyes out!!

You know, most people still think that it is better to glue, properly spread the paws (press them closer to the body) and arrange the beetles into families.

If it's not some kind of Photoshop.

Everything was predictable, except for this unexpected "accusation"))) Finally found the time to fight back: here, look, quite a real box:

picture: __2.jpg

Although, I confess, in order to plan the arrangement in the box in advance, I actively use the graphic program.

Of course, all this is completely "unscientific", and I do the collection just to please the eye, do not blame me.

In particular, I think it is completely pointless to argue that a pin sticking out from above is "more correct" than a piece of paper sticking out from the side, and vice versa))). In essence, this is not aesthetics at all, but naked pragmatics. Everyone has the right to choose, and it is obvious that I have already made my choice.

In addition, it just so happened that I initially adhered to the principle of collecting a collection in pairs of M+W from each type. As it turned out later, the principle is quite rare, although very fascinating. And when you have not 1, and not 10, but rather strictly 2 beetles of each species, you inevitably begin to think about a certain "geometric" form of making boxes. Which is exactly what happened to me. And this automatically makes it impossible to group beetles by family, stupidly because of the difference in size.

And just to make everyone giggle: having bought a relatively valuable beetle glued to the die at the fair, I really get a perverse pleasure, removing it from the block, spreading its paws to the sides and sticking the point into it, imagining the groans of horror of respected colleagues)))))))

Photo from the side/bottom - you can turn the beetle over on a pin and take a picture of it.
And where are the straightened belly to the top? or sideways? and so and glued to the die. or impaled...

lol.gif for fun and I'm interested to see this collection. but is there one?..

They usually do this...A series of beetles is traditionally spread out, and next to it the beetle is inverted or with its wings spread out...If, for example, the belly is iridescent, such as in goldfish, or the bottom is multicolored, such as in racehorse

One small question: why is the male Carabus cealatus impaled between the elytra?

30.11.2016 23:14, STG

One small question: why is the male Carabus cealatus impaled between the elytra?

I just imagined it:

picture: Carabus_caelatus_38.jpg

Carabus caelatus ssp. schreiberi (Kraatz, 1887), M+W, 35-38 mm, 24.07.2015, Croatia, Plitvice lakes, beech forest, h 500.
But the intravital color they after moreniy/urination noticeably podutratili (((Males were noticeably bluer, and females are purple (((

One small question: why is the male Carabus cealatus impaled between the elytra?

Yes, it is normally impaled - in the right elytra, as it should be. Just taken at this angle, that's what it seems.
P.S. While I was writing, they already answered. smile.gif

Dr. Freud, awww! smile.gif

Alexey, you must agree that a lot of work has been done! Sasha, until recently, generally put in his collection ONLY what he caught himself! He followed me from Moscow to catch some beetles in the Voronezh Region-that's saying something. A person is deprived of "academic blinders" and makes his collection the way he wants it to be. Who doesn't like it-don't look tongue.gifAnd healthy banter is fine beer.gif
