Yeah... Cute!!! So in the Crimea, this creature (alfakariensis) is definitely there... That's good! And then I made 20 pieces of "boys" from my mattresses this week-all hyale... The sample size is small, but it's better than nothing... Fees from Krasnogvardeysky district 2-3 years ago.

So they are on the genitals in my opinion are not particularly different. I would like to see photos of straightened butterflies...

Aedeagus should be viewed at high magnification! The difference is in the number of"teeth"... Well, that's what Lvovsky and Morgun say in their book (2007)... More than three - "hiale".

It says that 3 = alfa 5 (or 6) = hyale. I once cooked about a dozen-most had 5-6, one had 12, one had 4 and one had 3. Moreover, the one that had 3 looks more like hyale - the wings are elongated.
I think that we need to bring out the series and then see what they will get in terms of teeth.

By the way, articles about genital variability are not yet very common and, in principle, very interesting.

And what will the output from the tracks of the series give? Just the fact that such caterpillars produce such butterflies!

It will produce a series of 100% correctly identified butterflies. Accordingly, it will be possible to assess the intraspecific variability of appearance.

27.11.2009 16:59, DavBaz

Please help me deal with this colias. In the beginning, I thought that hyale, then when I put the erate series, I realized that this option cannot be excluded either...Although it looks more like Erata to me....Caught in early August in the vicinity of the PTZ in Luzhki.

He probably cured his patients of schizophrenia by forcing them to label their fees smile.gifIf you manually write several dozen labels every day, in the end, you will inevitably want to get rid of the "F 20" brand! smile.gif

Who knows - when I looked at this collection myself, I almost went mad

No, I won't get carried away. It's just that the yolk is painfully remarkable.

Colias alphacariensis were caught mostly in the Crimea, Tarkankhutsky peninsula, Olenevka village, Chernomorsky district were not recorded-hyale is everywhere, and one male is from Belarus, the first in a row.

1) Colias croceus Fourcroy, 1785 (male) -12.08.2009 M. O. Balashikha district of okr. der. Poltevo, a power line clearing in the forest.
She still flew to Moscow almost smile.gif.
2) Colias hyale Linnaeus, 1758-18. 08. 2000, Moscow region, Balashikha district, Zheleznodorozhny district, boggy meadow.
Many thanks to palvasru4ko for confirming the definition.

I think the definition is correct. In the female Colias crocea f. helice (at least in those I have seen), the black border is more pronounced, richer and also well defined on the hind wing, but here on the hind wing it is only slightly "anointed" with black...

Thanks! So I'm correcting the post. Considering also this: C. crocea only occasionally flies to us, and this one is banal.

A little myrmidon from the south of Belarus, Gomel region, different localities. The first generation, which is rarely noted for us and they are few in number. Most likely 3 the white female from above belongs to C. crocea

By the way.
Very big doubts about the third top white female in post 93 (myrmidone).

Everything can be and I had doubts about its belonging, I liked it more as a white form of C. crocea. But many people decided that this is myrmidona, while it stands like this, but I will probably move it where it should be and probably actually be, thanks for the comments. In the first generation, white forms are actually rare and not everywhere, and about no more than 6-10 % of the butterflies found.

30.11.2009 11:07, Guest

I would say that hyale, although the variant erate cannot be completely excluded, erate (female) has a genital plate with a narrow longitudinal split (see Nekrutenko, Crimea)

Actually, it's myrmidon.
