Yesterday I saw 2, the day before yesterday 1. They only come across a few. But Croceus didn't.

Crocea was approximately seen in the numbers of October 15, 2013 in Yenakiyevo, then were common.

On ebay for$ 1,650 sold a blue yolk with optical coloring (like Apatura). Unfortunately, images are copied without magnification, so the optical nature of blue is poorly visible on the attached photos. I wonder how, in principle, such an aberration can occur?

An amazing specimen! In general, some species of jaundice(males) have orange fields that turn purple. From magenta to blue, the spectrum is not so far smile.gifaway, and if you"remove" the yellow pigment, just purple will become blue. But, still, an amazing specimen!!! And I don't know how you can estimate it at 1650?If such aberrations are not learned to do artificially, this copy is priceless! yes.gif

Caught in Moscow in mid-August a little strange yolk. Is this a male Colias hyale with a developed black pattern, or is it still Colias erate?

Look at the tip of the abdomen. If there are harps on the valvas, then hyale. Garps (or lack thereof) they are clearly visible even in dried butterflies.

Colias erate

Hello. I need a little help again.
Caught a butterfly of the genus colias, and a little off topic of the genus pontia. Unfortunately, I don't have any qualifiers for Uzbekistan.
The butterfly is similar to the female colias erate ssp.erate, but it is a male.
And the Central Asian representatives of the genus pontia are difficult for me.
Help with the definition.
Gathering place Amankutan, Takhtakaracha pass, Pamir-Alai. Uzbekistan. (30.09.2018)
A photo of the meeting point is attached.
Zaraneya thank you for your answer.

For the sake of a jokesmile.gif, I post a photo of two simple yolks, the distance between the places of their capture is 3400 km in a straight smile.gifline, I think it's quite simple to determine their species affiliation, but the places/country of capture? Yes, they were caught at about the same height.

By the way, the fildi of the" masters " Verhulst and Grieshuber for Vietnam, it seems, is not given. But even the maps in their books are incorrect, to put it mildly.

Everything would have been fine, but you forgot to mention that the invalid designation of the sareptensis lectotype from the non-type series was rejected, and the lectotype from the type series was designated. Moreover, Grieshuber himself knew that the specimens of the type series were in the Staudinger collection , but apparently he misinterpreted the articles of the Codex relating to the typification of taxa of the species group.
