Goodnight! Please help me determine what kind of beetles they are! And can they bite like that? Mostly, I find them on the floor (parquet), windowsill, and on the bed from time to time I catch them. They are very small, photographed on a cotton pad.

This is Attagenus smirnovi. It has nothing to do with bites. Here, read it: http://macroclub.ru/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=194397
Larvae in our apartments feed, as a rule, on dust behind baseboards and similar places.

Thank you so much for your reply! Now it remains to find out who bites ))

14.04.2016 10:25, ИНО

Very similar to one of the horseflies, for example, goldeneye. But it is possible that this is such a violent allergic reaction to the bite of a simple mosquito.

And I think it's very similar to the bite that Woodlice (Ceratopogonidae) make.

14.04.2016 17:06, ИНО

What do you have for the woodlice are so terrible? A normal woodlouse bite is a tiny red dot, comparable to the insect itself. But they usually do not attack alone, as a result, a rash comes out of such points. There's nothing like it here.

Judging by the lack of a clear point of "bite", this is not a horsefly or woodlouse. Such a picture occurs with increased sensitivity to foreign proteins. And their sources can be mosquitoes, and even some stinging ants, for example, ponerins found in suburban or low-rise buildings.

14.04.2016 17:23, Юрий352

You can guess indefinitely, there is very little data, it is not even known in which part of the globe these events occur. smile.gif

This is a fake beetle from the genus Gibbium, a cosmopolitan species, a pest of organic products and materials.

Exactly, sps. Shower stall on the bars is, soon we will put a bath. They feed on wood. In the meantime, how can you exterminate the beetle?

Good night)) Tell me what kind of insect and is it dangerous?
Flew it is not clear how on the 15th floor-except that through the grid or ventilation shafts, flew into the chandelier and died, behaved aggressively as if attacked, I thought that a bee, but I doubt it, although they are black.20160417_000506.jpg

It may very well be a bee, but not a domestic one, but a wild one. The photo is not very good... In any case, this stinging hymenopteran could sting. It could only have flown in by accident and only from outside.

Osmia cornuta, the female was looking for a place to nest, but found death. They are basically incapable of being aggressive and attacking. They can probably sting if you hold them in your hand, but I haven't tried it.

She attacked the air - in general, something she didn't like, she didn't touch us, but we didn't come close.

17.04.2016 14:50, ИНО

You may have imagined it, but it didn't attack anything. Perhaps you took it for aggression to find a place for the bee to build a nest, or, conversely, leaving the apartment. I repeat: aggressive behavior directed at large animals (such as humans) is absent in osmium in principle. Fear has big eyes.

That's it. Just an hour ago, I read the most interesting material about the territorial behavior of animals. What we call aggression is simply bullying for them.

18.04.2016 17:53, ИНО

A very interesting fact from your personal life. but it has nothing to do with this topic. Osmii do not attack a person, do not intimidate him do not know how. Even if he destroys the nest in front of the bee.
