"Hook flies", perhaps, refers to the Bibio marci pachyderm?
http://www.commanster.eu/commanster/Insect...Bibio.marci.jpg
their larvae look like this:
http://www.pbase.com/tmurray74/image/54166091
They couldn't eat too many flowers, because they feed on nectar.

The gray-black larvae are probably soft-bodied larvae (Cantharidae), they are now leaving for the winter:
http://bugguide.net/images/cache/AHXHTHMHL...Z5LAZXLLR4L.jpg

If you take a photo, you can tell more accurately.

The fly is similar, but the larva is not. So these aren't their nests. I guessed this only by comparing the number of flies flying-literally clouds-and the number of larvae. Here is a soft-bodied larva similar, and what, they nest like this in 100-200 pieces??? Horror... If I can go and find the nest, I'll take a picture.

The photo is extremely muddy, but it seems to be the caterpillar of some bear (family Arctiidae).

Hello. Help please. Whose goose is this? confused.gif

The bear's caterpillar. Try giving her plantain, dandelion, blackberries( raspberries), cinquefoil, bedstraw, milkweed. Ест?

Dear entomologists,

Please help me identify the creature found in the Moscow apartment.
We saw three such fast-running "centipedes" on a spring mattress with a wooden frame, which, in turn, lies on a carpet made of natural sheep wool on a laminate floor.
When the mattress was lifted, several dozen more living and dead creatures of various sizes were found on the carpet. In the photo - one of the largest. The height of the letters on a piece of paper is about 2.5 mm.
The more we know about these "guests", the better.
Thank you so much to everyone who can tell me something!

It looks like the larva of some kind of beetle from the family of leatherworms (Dermestidae). In your case, this is an unpleasant neighborhood (eats skins, etc.). Measure of control: Naphthalene.

Naphthalene is the last century! Now there are special tablets for skin eaters, and "Antimol" works well on them=)

Found in the Network similar. And we discussed it quite recently. And the photo is similar. http://www.save-img.com/v.php?id=3499f0f90...fdfc4dc6e81f8be

They say that these are sugar scales, but in the photos that we were able to find, the scales are very different from that picture and our insects.

Don't worry about it! You have already been answered absolutely accurately - these are the larvae of skin-eating beetles (family Dermestidae). The opinion about scales is erroneous. They are really quite different.

These are the worms in the nest. Today there were frosts, but they are still moving, only they have become lighter, and they were the color of a pencil lead or asphalt.
How to remove them, in the sense of-what to poison?

Many thanks to the participants vasiliy-feoktisyov, Dmitrich and Mantispid for
a quick and accurate consultation!
...of course, it would be better if they were harmless scales. We even liked them already
. smile.gif About kozheedov in the Network honestly write that absolutely
effective measures to combat them have not yet been found. And they are not even afraid of the cold
(we took out the carpet on the balcony).

Ouch... Considering that it is impossible to completely destroy dust in practice, I only now realized the scale of the disaster. ;)
We are going to buy a mattress made of natural coconut fiber (coir). Do you think the leatherheads will settle in it?
And also: some insects do not tolerate the presence of essential oils of certain plants (for example, moth-geranium, lavender). Is anything like this known about leatherworms? I'm thinking of an alternative to chemicals.

12.10.2009 21:13, Fornax13

From coconut-hardly. Most kozheaters are associated with the remains of animal, not plant origin. There are, of course, exceptions, but they are somehow not particularly common in our latitudes.
As for the fight - they are demanding of low and very low humidity. When the humidity increases, they feel very badsmile.gif, But the moth begins to breed foolishly. I don't even know what's better wink.gif

Thanks!
It's really very dry here. But the kozheaters suddenly appeared. Either they came with their things, or they came running from the neighbors. We will increase the humidity. Using colors. And Moli won't be comfortable here. Geranium, again. smile.gif

Small insects in the bathroom 1-3 mm long grayish color in the form of "droplets" what kind of resident is this? It turns out more often at night, turning on the light, they freeze as if dead. Who are they and what kind of species? And how to distance them from such popular folk places=) .
Thank you.

Note: they are wingless and run quite fast on different surfaces.

it looks like "sugar flake" only large antennae like netu

Hello!
In the summer, a strange creature was discovered in the village. (500 km from Moscow)
Externally, it is very similar to a calibri, small with very fast wings, and a tail.
At first I thought it was just a small bird of a rare species.
She flew to the flowers near the house and hovered over the flowers, could freeze in one place, and she had a proboscis.
But birds do not have proboscis, they are different in butterflies, but butterflies do not have tails... What's it?
There is only a video, I couldn't take a picture because the "bird" is very fast.
Never seen anything like this in this area before!

I myself am very interested in what it is =)) that's why I leave my contacts.

And this butterfly is a hawk moth.

And what size was your miracle? Yazykana color of the tip of the abdomen resembles a bird's tail, but this hawk moth is probably one of the smallest.

13.10.2009 11:20, Guest

Shaggy such)) pasib) found detailed information in the net. Still, it's strange how she skidded.

13.10.2009 11:33, Victor Titov

She hadn't gone anywhere smile.gif. For the Moscow region - a common thing.

13.10.2009 12:15, Gotrika

I saw it for the first time, so I think it's not so ordinary))
Yes, and I think they don't like the Moscow region, especially when compared with the usual habitat (North Caucasus, North Africa, South India, Far East)

Well, 500 km is not the Moscow region) tongue.gif

13.10.2009 12:38, omar

The fact that you did not see it is a matter solely of your lack of observation and personal bad luck, and not at all of the exclusivity of your find for the region. If 500 km south of Moscow, then at this latitude the butterfly is a mass species. tongue.gif

13.10.2009 12:39, Victor Titov

Well, you have incorrect information that hawkmoth, including the yazykan shown in the picture, are distributed only in the North Caucasus, North Africa, South India, and the Far East... There are many species in central Russia, and yazykan is not the only one. Moreover, since hawkmoth are excellent fliers, even southern species very often penetrate far to the north in the summer. Believe me, to see a hawk moth in central Russia is really a common thing. And the fact that you haven't met them before is a special case. I see them regularly tongue.gif.

13.10.2009 12:43, Gotrika

Great)
I just consider myself quite attentive, especially when it comes to nature))
Yes, and all my friends did not see this either, well, I will not argue)) You know best.

13.10.2009 12:46, Victor Titov

Everyone sees what they want (and can) see. Two people are walking through the forest - one bends down to pick mushrooms at every step, and the other just wonders-how do you find them confused.gif? Does it look familiar? wink.gif

I think they're woodlice, at least that's what we call them. There are also relatively large ones, about 1 cm. Quite harmless creatures, the same age as dinosaurs. In the bathroom, because it is damp, they always strive for water. As I noticed, they also pick up some garbage, or midges. At least they don't bother smile.gifme, and they hardly do me any harm.
Much more disgusting is such a multi-legged red muck with horns, 2-8 cm in size, which also starts up in dampness, for example, under pipes in the bathroom or in the country under damp boards.

Hi, everybody… who can recognize what kind of goosebumps are found in the kitchen while I haven't seen them anywhere else, crawling on the tile, on the table on the windowsill. Yellowish color size 0.5-1 mm, crawl on their paws, jump 5 – 10 cm when touched. The apartment is new renovated recently ... new furniture. I've never seen anything like this before. Can this animal live in laminate, I have suspicions that these beetles appeared after the laminate was put on the floor... although it is put in all rooms.. confused.gif Help us get rid of them..

It looks like a young (newly hatched) bedbug.

14.10.2009 11:04, Emma1968

Hello! On the floor below, the neighbors are dysfunctional: we can't get rid of cockroaches. And then I found bites on the body, like from bedbugs. I shook the whole bed, found no one. A day later I caught a bug, but only one. And there were no more bites. Then there was itching and prickly bites, but no one is visible. The house cat is itching all over! There are no fleas. I began to change the bed linen, in the pillow I found small insects up to 1 mm pale yellow, they run fast. I threw out the pillows, change the linen every day, boil it. I watered the room and the bed "Clean House". It was enough to sleep quietly for two nights after a day of airing. And yesterday I found them on the wall in the kitchen. Who are they and how to destroy them?

14.10.2009 11:14, okoem

Well, 500 km is well, not the Moscow region ) tongue.gif

Couldn't you find any landmarks closer to Moscow? tongue.gif And then 500 km in an unknown direction is, to put it mildly, not quite an accurate landmark.

And then I found bites on the body, like from bedbugs. I shook the whole bed, found no one. A day later I caught a bug, but only one.
...
Who are they and how to destroy them?

First of all, it's bedbugs - you say you found them yourself. And as for just one thing, they were just looking for it in the wrong place. Secondly, are there pigeons nearby? Maybe pigeon ticks have arrived.

14.10.2009 11:20, Emma1968

Well, there are no pigeons right in the apartment. Children brought a wounded bird...

14.10.2009 11:26, Amerika

Yes, it can be anything like a newly hatched cockroach or an ant... I would like to find out the exact name of it to search in Google, I don't see any harm from them yet, but it's unpleasant when you notice them
