I'll answer for Alexander, because I have these butterflies.
Female bifida, a very common species for the Aleshkovsky sands, looks like an interrupta only from afar, in a good photo it does not "smack" ). However, the interrupta is also occasionally found there, but this time it was not caught.
Colias erate, if you don't go into the erate/croceus problem.
But in the third row from the bottom to the left, the thick-headed Spialia orbifer is an interesting find for the south of the Odessa region.
I apologize, of course I meant aruginosa when I wrote that it is found in the sands.

Good afternoon, forumchane! I don't know about your local situation, but in Moldova we met the first Parnassius Mnemosyne with our comrades in Rezeni only on 09.05.16. How much happiness was there jump.gif
I didn't expect to see Hyphoraia aulica flying around during the day. True, only males, but still nice. The catch is not big - because rain was expected.

wait, wait.
How does an interrupta come across? Seriously?
Perhaps you were referring to the yellowish-ochre F. aeruginosa?

But if F. interripta is also there, then it's just great for such a "semi-mythical" species!
I would like to see a photo ))

Vadim corrected himself, there really is aeruginosa, there was already material about it from this point.
And we have no information about interripta.

Between two estuaries...

07-08. 05. 2016
Odessa region, Belyaevsky district, 3.5 km east of Avgustovka village
GPS: 46°39 ' 13 "N 30°41' 30 " E

Night fishing: 125W DRL + 250W DRL

Steppe with small ravines and gullies overgrown with deciduous trees.

The evening and night, judging by the day, promised to be warm and without precipitation.
But it turned out a little differently than planned... At night, the temperature dropped to 7 degrees and it was not comfortable frown.gifat all, moreover, a medium-strong north wind was constantly blowing.

There were very few butterflies, and there were no hours until 22:00 at all, and the mood was getting worse by the minute.

After the wind subsided a little, about five scoops and two moths began to fly singly frown.gif

For me, a new species in the collection was the scoop-Calophasia opalina (Esper, 1793), and a fresh Charanyca trigrammica (Hufnagel, 1766)was also taken

When the wind stopped altogether and the weather warmed up a little (or seemed to warm up), three males and two females of the crested Dicranura ulmi (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775)flew to the screen within half an hour

A pleasant surprise and also a new species for me was the woodpecker Dyspessa ulula (Borkhausen, 1790), I had never seen it before smile.gif

At the end of the day, the mood improved to an impossible degree when a very fresh male Saturnia pyri (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775)rose from a nearby ravine

The place left a very pleasant impression and I will definitely return here more than once smile.gif

Lilac Grove

09-10. 05. 2016
Odessa region, Belyaevsky district, 4.5 km west of the village.Great Range Finder
GPS: 46°27 ' 24 "N 30°30'22" E
Night Fishing: 125W DRL + 250W DRL

Lilac grove, small woodlands of deciduous trees (ash, willow, oak...), near a small lake.

The day was very hot and the evening was a success, we started fishing at a temperature of +14 (21: 30)

The place is wonderful and stuns with its beauty. The grove of wild lilacs and its intoxicating aroma, which sinks lower to the ground after dusk, made the fishing atmosphere unforgettable.

We chose the largest clearing in the grove, which on weekends and holidays serves as the main place in the grove for active recreation of Odessa residents smile.gif

I was surprised and pleased with the cleanliness of this place. Something is changing in the minds of people and it pleases. Everything is cleaned, the bricks are neatly stacked for the next barbecue meal smile.gif

And so we laid out the structure in the center of the clearing, where an hour ago we played football with children, and began to wait smile.gif

Unlike the previous trip to the estuaries, as soon as we turned on the lamps, a small amount of micra immediately flew to the screen and all sorts of scoops and moth began to catch up, one male Hyles euphorbiae (Linnaeus, 1758) and about five specimens of Dicranura ulmi (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775)also came

The evening was warm and windless.

Among the most memorable things:

Agrotis ipsilon (Hufnagel, 1766)
Agrotis exclamationis (Linnaeus, 1758)
Agrotis segetum (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775)
Anarta trifolii (Hufnagel, 1766) - in the mass
of Dypterygia scabriuscula (Linnaeus, 1758)
Egira conspicillaris (Linnaeus, 1758)
Leucania obsoleta (Hübner, 1803)
Ochropleura plecta (Linnaeus, 1761)
Xestia c-nigrum (Linnaeus, 1758)
Autographa gamma (Linnaeus, 1758) - in the mass
of Macdunnoughia confusa (Stephens, 1850)
still, maybe five or seven species of scoops

Dicranura ulmi (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775)

Hyles euphorbiae (Linnaeus, 1758)

Cilix glaucata (Scopoli, 1763)

Idaea degeneraria (Hübner, 1799)
maybe three more species.

In general, I expected more. I probably should have taken another trip to the estuaries....

Well, a few photos:

So, where are the pictures?

Since there was such a binge on the Odessa estuaries, I will add my report.
Having swallowed saliva after the departure of colleagues for the May weekend at Kuyalnik, I could not stand it and rushed to catch too. I chose a place that I had been looking at for a long time on the Dniester estuary.
So on May 8-9, Odessa region, Belgorod-Dniester district, between the villages of Pivdennoe and Sadovoe, slopes of the Dniester estuary, now the territory of the Nizhnednistrovsky NPP.
Among people, this place is better known as the "reserve of Grandfather Yevsey". In honor of the forester Evsey Pavlovich, who personally planted a huge number of trees and shrubs, creating a forest.
On Sunday afternoon, I decided to climb these places in search of something interesting from the diaries, but the result, despite the good weather, was a little upset, more was expected. On most of the route, there are few animals and only on the remains of steppes, on the unsplanted slopes, the remains of steppe life are chewing. In any case, I was pleased with fresh Pseudophilotes vicrama schiffermulleri and green mottles, which I do not know.
For the night, it is located directly in the forester's yard. Unfortunately, the temperature was low and, as a result, the air was quite weak. PleasedSaturnia pyri, a total of 15 pieces, but all fairly flown, so I did not take any. And the highlight of the program was a moth, previously known only from the Danube Delta, and a week ago found by colleagues and on Kuyalnik-Idaea filicata. Monday morning back home.
Well, a few photos:

Alas!.. there were no hoods. I still want to try to light up there, but I have to go with the generator and put a lamp near the very slopes that have survived from the plantings. That's where hoods and other steppe dwellers should go.

The other day after work I decided to take a walk in the woods with a camera. The sun is low, there are few animals in the shade, so at the end of the walk I went to a large clearing just in case. While it was raining, the weather changed to overcast, and a light rain began to fall. Skrayu saw Aethes tesserana, our usual leaf wrapper, and decided to take a picture. I was just thinking of leaving - I noticed a larger leaflet-it turned out to be Commophla aeneana! So I stayed until almost dusk. It turned out to be a very "listovertochnoe" place, the result:

1 Timandra comae, common Ematurga atomaria and Euclidia glyphica, 1 Tineidae sp., dozens of Plutella xylostella, 2 Millieria dolosana were not included in the lens field.
I forgot to turn off "autoISO", but I fixed the shutter speed and it was in the evening - as a result, the ISO is off the scale, the photos are not good, I had to reduce them.

Still, to a lesser extent - the next day I went there again in sunny weather (but also in the evening before sunset), the composition is about the same, even a little more. The place is good with an abundance of plants, these leafwings especially like to sit on umbrella bushes (carrot like), which grow abundantly in the clearing.

A short report on today's excursion. Khmelnitsky region, Izyaslavsky district, near the swamp "Cranberry field". The goal of Carterocephalus silvicola has been achieved, but the rest of the diurnal population is very modest-malvae, palaemon, cardamines, rhamni, sinapis, rubi, phlaeas, tityrus, argiolus, semiargus, euphrosyne, athalia, hero, plus up to a dozen geometrid species. Bonus duck escaped from the nest in front of my nose, almost tame fawn and a bucket of mushrooms (podberezovikov and Polish).

That's where Gennady is.
Now there are a lot of them and there are ideal ones-non-flying ones.
On the hills on the banks of the Dniester river where there are thickets of caragana.
They swarm over these bushes when it's sunny, and as soon as there's a cloud, they sit on them. further than 10 meters from the caragana do not fly off.
By the way, in April polyxenes flew there in huge quantities.

Good evening to all! Buenos Aires nights!
Once again I went to close the steppe Rezensky season. I just wanted to remove the traps set during the last regular closure, and if they did not catch Acinopus ammophilus, then plow the entire cheklezh of the Ialoveni district. The presence of a proven chisel in the backpack was checked in the evening. But I didn't find any of the five traps on the spot. They were completely flooded and covered with earth during two weeks of rain. And they went into the depths of Rezen and carried off my Ammophilus! Choke on the bastards.
Still, I was lucky. When I started plowing through the cheklezh (these are just old corn stalks), I soon found acinopus, but not ammophilus, but Acinopus laevigatus!!! Skoka I was looking for him, skoka right mandibles revised banal pitsipesov! By the way, picipes was immediately caught, so it was possible to compare them immediately. So it is, laevigatus, and even three pieces. They turn out to walk together, plus somewhere nearby climbs the actual ammophilus. That's right, the bug was caught in front of my eyes in early May. I even wrote about it.
When I typed in Harpalinae, I didn't anger the local spirits and left cheklezh alone. I went to the lake, where promising thistles loomed below the dam. And not in vain. I've discovered a Larinus latus nest, and this isn't some poor stornus. There were a lot of beetles, but after marking a point, I took about twenty of them, and then smoothly moved on to picking at who knows what. This stuff was also in bulk, just in bulk. As a result, we took two Pachylister inaequalis, one Aphodius scrutator, and so on for small things of toddlers and ontofguses that I haven't watched yet. But all the fun was spoiled by the shepherd I knew from last season, who followed me with his flock and wanted to understand everything. what I'm looking for in such a substrate. It wasn't enough for him that he had already smoked half a pack of my cigarettes. He took two at a time.
I had to leave the shepherd in his thoughts and go higher up the hill. There, some very small Labidostomis were found on the blades of grass. Very small, 5 mm. definitely new to me. I took a dozen. And a little more interesting stuff - a couple of Raschus segnis and some other encouraging large earthen weevil. Only a strong worn one. And also very strange curculas, in size, shape and color something in between sithons and Tanymecus palliatus. First found in Moldova Malachius aeneus-s, I have them, but Vologda. Etc.
I was not alone, but with Sasha, my Moscow courier. He also caught a little, photos of him.

In order to participate in EMN 3-5 .06, we decided to fish at three points. The route was determined only on the eve of departure, because we looked where there is no rain.
The first point is Nikolaevskaya obl, a canyon near Trikraty, after the rain the day before, it is hot during the day, heavy dew at night.
Then we went to the Odessa region, near the Kuyalnik estuary-4 on the eastern bank in the steppe, 5 on the west-a frame grove near the spring. Before that, there was probably heavy rain, puddles all around, heavy dew at night, and it was still a little cold in the steppe. Photos are not enough, because I. Kostyuk pulled his back and could not go, so we are together with A. Bidzila ( he collected micro).

Here are some photos

This is a collection from the grove, very strong years, only 102 species. Njctua interposita, Eutelia adulatrix, Acontia trabealis-probably more than a hundred of each and mated on the screen. There were hawkmoth sea buckthorn, ruled, oak and other common ones.
In the morning, cucumbers flew - 6 species.

And if it's not too much trouble, can I have a "diagram or drawing"?
In the personal account, or, better, in the topic "Ways to catch the light"?

In order to participate in EMN 2-6. 06, we decided to fish in two areas:
Kharkiv and Luhansk regions (me and Shustov). We called our local colleagues in advance with an offer to take part. Having received the consent, they began to wait for an hour " H " and stipulated that the registration would take place in any weather, for two days for each region. smile.gif The main goal is to get acquainted with the Cretaceous fauna of these areas. The first point is Dvurechansky district, with a visit to the National Park of the same name, in the Luhansk region chalk slopes of the Aidar River.
But life makes its own adjustments, I was forced to stay late at work, and instead of the planned departure at 13.00. We left only at 16., and we had to go to Gulga for 7 hours, i.e. we didn't have time to go in light time, and while I was completing the regional Championship, Vadim was looking for an intermediate option in the Kharkiv region, along which we managed to get there before dark. Surprisingly, we got there very quickly, and the last option was used, on the way to Dvorechanskoe NP-Kitsevskie Peski. I immediately liked the place very much, Oleshkin sands in miniature, pine forests, birch groves framed the arena sands of the Seversky Donets with its old trees.

The most beautiful place, unfortunately, turned out to be poorly populated, or the cold and high humidity prevented the fauna from showing in all its glory.
In total, a little more than 50 macro species were counted, which are quite common for us, the most interesting find was the Coleophoridae cover found on a tent. smile.gif

I photographed butterflies, but everything is quite ordinary, I don't want to take away your attention. smile.gif
In the afternoon, we walked through the steppe, where we caught a fathead very similar to our Pyrgus serratulae subspecies major (I think I wrote it correctly), took one for a point and went, in a telephone conversation it turned out that this is Pyrgus carthami, a species that does not exist in the Zaporozhye region. But it was too late to go back.

We went to the Dvurechansky district after watching enough reports of Yevgeny Karolinsky, to our regret, he could not join us. The remaining 70 km went for 2 hours, now Google's time for the entire route has become clear. The goal was achieved. this became clear when we were booed by the owner of the chalk slopes - baibak.
picture: Bajbak_IMG_4446.JPG

Walking along the slopes, looking around with wide-open eyes, we couldn't get enough, everything is different, and what kind of silver pigeons are they, we looked at Rlebejus pyrenaica !!!!, we forgot that it is here.
picture: Plebejus_pyrenaica_IMG_4451.JPG
After a quick run down the slopes, picking up a few Lebejus pyrenaica, catching Eublemma rosea instead. We started looking for a place to shine. This was found at two-thirds of the slope height on a flat section of road. We put the main screen and the auxiliary screen on opposite sides of the hill. And with fading began to expect darkness, What will fly? And it flew. smile.gif
One of the first to arrive was Sideridis lampra, a semi-mythical butterfly of Ukraine, for which it is given, but no material is available.

And then they flew one after the other. Cucullia thapsiphaga=Cucullia lanceolata has flown in from the interesting places,

Vadim brought Eublemma polygramma, Hadena persimilis from the auxiliary screen.
The expected Eublemma rosea did not arrive. As a result, the night ended, as we thought very successfully, with more than 50 types of scoops and even more than three dozen other macro images.

The next day Brought a lot of Interesting Things. After wandering around the hills and picking up some Ple-jejus pyrenaica.

We went down to the floodplain on the water meadow, I did not see such an abundance of wild gladioli anywhere, we imagined how many interesting things live here. we caught a lot of interesting pigeons: Aricia artaxerxes, Cupido decolorata, Aricia eumedon, Lycaena tityrus.

On the way back to the top we collected Setina roscida

During the day we left the slopes so that the car would not spoil the surrounding landscape, and in the evening we went down to the fishing spot. The second night was much warmer and a lot more species flew, and what kind:

Polia serratilinea is an incredible color, such as can only be found on chalk

Cucullia pustulata

Affects a large number of garlic plants, as they are buried in chalk?
picture: Kumka_IMG_4549.JPG

The result was more than 80 species of scoops and 50 species of other macro scoops.
We decided not to go to the Luhansk region, but to stay here for the third night. but first, before the fog, go fishing in the meadow, and then climb the slopes.
The day did not bring anything amazing, just admired this beautiful corner of Ukraine, until the rain drove into the car. it stopped at 18.00 and before dark it managed to dry out a little. We went down to the meadow and put up one screen, the heat of the years is weak and banal, and they fly on the slopes....... for an hour of glow without catching a single new species for accounting, in 30 minutes we gathered, moved and lit up on the slopes. Skipping the early flying Sideridis lampra.
But almost immediately they were rewarded with a scoop, the species belonging to which was calculated only empirically
Xestia ashworthii, also of a very interesting color.

And micro, just a little bit:
Euzophera formosella inhabit the Cretaceous slopes, first found on the mainland of Ukraine.
picture: Euzophera_formosella_IMG_4843.jpg

And a gold-rimmed Diceratura ruby, either a new look for mainland Ukraine, or even a new one for Ukraine, or maybe even a new one. We will cook. smile.gif

The third night ended.
picture: UtroIMG_4850.JPG

As a result, more than 100 species of scoops and more than 80 species of other macro-scoops were taken into account. There are a lot of previously unknown species from the territory of the Kharkiv region. Several types have not yet been determined, and we will study the drugs. On micro, everything is still ahead.
