Today we went for a walk with Liparus, south of Kharkiv (Vasishchevo).
The weather was warm, and there was a light fog, but it didn't really bother the sun.

But this discovery was a complete surprise for me (November still...):

After spending the night in the forest, I went to the Yalta Yayla plateau. Before my eyes was a view of Perepelinuyu mountain (Bedene-Kyr):

P.S. At night, roe deer fought very close. I observed this in the light of the moon (very well shone!!!). One of the participants of the fight after the fight ran very close - about two meters away from me! I've never seen these animals so close! The reason for this bestial "crazy" is unclear to me. I didn't move, but the smell did... Did I really stink so much from the campfire smoke? Apparently, he didn't care about anything...

Scolopendral leaflet. Quite a rare thing.

There weren't many of them in the canyon - maybe 50 bushes at most. They started meeting "in the depths" - after "baths" and crowded places. By the way, in the book "Passes of the mountain Crimea" I read that the discoverer of the Canyon was a botanist from Yalta, who went here for ferns. I forgot his last name... We'll have to see it later...

On December 18, the traditional New Year's Eve "meeting" (if you can call it that)was held Kharkiv Entomological Society. The meeting, combined with celebration, libation and consumption, had to be held not in our native walls, but in one of the cafes closer to the city center.Unfortunately, we have already lost our premises, and it is not clear what will happen next... But, despite this, we are still alive, and the Kharkiv province has managed to gather not only Kharkiv entomologists (and those remotely close to them), but also specialists in this field from the surrounding area, and even (unfortunately) neighboring countries. Although, it should be noted, in past years there were more people...

Thank you to Boris for telling us about the Kharkiv meeting. Of course, it was not held in the old building of the beloved "Stigma", but everything was still very good. Many thanks to the organizers! We, along with Irina Pavlovna Lezhenina and Maxim Sergeev, got the most out of it-a meeting with Igor Georgievich Plyushch and his stories the next day, in a cozy home environment at Irina Pavlovna's. I post a photo that barry definitely doesn't have wink.gif

This means that you did not express yourself exactly and were misunderstood. "In the south of the region" in the context of your post gave reason to conclude that you are referring specifically to the Kharkiv region. If you originally meant the Carpathians, then what does "in the south of the region"mean? confused.gif Besides, I haven't fished in the Carpathians myself, unfortunately. But judging by the information received from forum members who know this region well, Rosalia alpina also has a local appearance there.

As far as I can tell, it can give flashes of numbers. There was such an outbreak in Crimea in 2007. In June and July, males came across quite randomly, sometimes 2-3 in three different places, although I had never met him before.

Winter, sad. So I decided to provide one last year's photo report. 21.05.2010 Kiev region, Kagarlytsky district, Voronivka village. There is an abandoned fruit garden nearby, and that's where we are located on the slope. We went with Diletant. It was quite a good flight, with probably a hundred porcelluses flying in overnight. For the first time in the Kiev province met Saturnia pyri. These, however, came in a wave around eleven o'clock and disappeared. In general, they fished heartily, even proserpine caught a few copies. Oh, I would like a new season as soon smile.gifas possible

From February 4 to February 8, Barry and I were in the Crimea.
We spent several days in the Bakhchisarai region, in the village of Bogatoe Gorzhel.
Many interesting finds were found on the northern and northeastern slopes of the mountains:
Lucanidae:
Aesalus ulanowskii
Dorcus parallelipipedus

Carabidae:
Carabus cancellatus cancellatus n.sulinensis

Cetoniidae:
Cetonia aurata pallida

Tenebrionidae:
Helops caeruleus steveni
Scaphidema rousi

On the southern slopes of the mountains, snowdrops bloom, wild boars run, and beetles are already different:

Byrrhidae:
Curimus insignis

Staphylinidae:
Ocypus curtipennis
Ocypus picipennis
Ocypus sp.

Tenebrionidae:
Laena ?pulchella
