On the weekend we went to the Shipov forest in the Voronezh region. But first things first. I'll introduce the participants first. There were three of us: Nikolay "Seneka", Alexey Vishnyakov and I.
I will note that the trip had many good prerequisites, I would even say signs. On this day, there were at least 3.1
of them. Catching a good barbel on Elektrozavodskaya street.
2. A chance meeting with Viktor Vasilyevich Sinyaev at the Kozhukhovskaya metro station. I take this opportunity to say hi to him. smile.gif
3. Less casual, but no less pleasant meeting with Alexey in the subway car.
At 20: 30 we were at the bus station near Krasnogvardeyskaya metro station.

All assembled

And at 21: 00 we have already left the station by bus Moscow-Volgodonsk. The initial section of the road is very tiring. Traffic jams at the exit from Moscow, plus road repairs. As a result, we drove only 100 km in 3 hours. We were in Pavlovsk at about 10 o'clock in the morning. There were no return tickets (more on that later). At 10:20 minutes, a commuter bus was served to the village of Vorontsovka.
Upon arrival at the place, we bought the necessary provisions in the local general store. With transport to the immediate location of the proposed parking lot was a bummer. I had to walk. But soon a tractor caught up with us, and the whole company went in a cart. It was quite extreme. After traveling a considerable distance, we dismounted and continued our trek on foot in search of a place to set up camp. Collecting entomofauna along the way. There were kravchiki, olenki, fat cricket, legless Calasoma, etc. My first find that day was a two-dot leaf beetle of the genus Cryptocephalus.

After walking a considerable distance, a place for a camp was found. It was already getting dark. I set a trap with rotten capelin on necrobionts. After a quick meal, we set up our tent and prepared for the night's light fishing. Before k-rym, Alexey and I wandered along the paths, where we found dorcadions and blackbirds. I want to admit that for me it was the first experience of both trips with a tent and catching in the light redface.gif teapot.gif

Unfortunately, fishing for the light did not give any special results. From the beetles flew nutcrackers, a lone blackling, and a female stag beetle. I was disappointed in the light collection: it was expensive, cumbersome, and the result was not very good. In my opinion, collecting beetles is not the best way. If I'm wrong, please correct me. About one o'clock in the morning I went to bed.
Day 2. I slept like a log. In the morning, after breakfast, Alexey and I went for a walk around the neighborhood, while Nikolai stayed to lay out his material on mattresses and set up soil traps. During our walk, we met a local entomologist who deals with wasps. Talking to him, we even got a little lost. As a result, I had to make a rather large detour. But this is for the best: they collected a lot of interesting things: barbels, dung beetles, a bronze plate of proteti affinis, one apiece for each brother. I climbed the chalk slopes, where I caught a crunch and some other bronze fish.

Before evening fishing, we again examined the paths. The result is the same: dorcadions and darklings.

After eating noodles with stewed meat, we moved on to gathering in the light.
Day 3. As usual, everything good ends quickly and we had to move to Moscow. After breakfast and packing up, we set off, collecting insects along the way. My backpack was oozing miasma as smelly capelin leaked onto it. And in 2 hours we were at the bus stop in Aleksandrovka. The bus arrived immediately.

But in Pavlovsk it was more difficult. The bus to Moscow was supposed to arrive at 16: 50, and they don't want to sell tickets. The size of their luggage didn't suit them. But then everything settled down and we went. The bus was packed, but in Voronezh, the crowd was a little dispersed. During the Voronezh parking lot, we almost lost Nikolai. But everything worked out fine.

And at about 5 am we were in Moscow. Alexey went to his home, and Nikolai and I had to wait half an hour for the metro to open. I haven't seen such pandemonium in a long time

Near the ticket offices of the metro, even two men got into a fight, they clearly looked like deer beetles, trying to grab and knock each other to the floor.
At the end of my story, I would like to thank Alexey and Nikolai for the wonderful company and well-spent time.

On the weekend of 11.06.11 I caught the light at the dacha in Vaskelovo (Vsevolozhsky district. Leningrad region). Caught on DRL250. The night was clear, warm (+19) and moonless. It flew better than the previous weekend. Caught from 1.00 to 3.00. Almost no dark.
In the morning I went to the store and on the way looked at a favorite fishing glade. There was nothing interesting in the clearing (pigeons, small mother-of-pearl flowers, a few hawthorns, day owls, but..... I decided to catch a flying beetle, and it turned out to be Hemaris tityus (Linnaeus, 1758)! After looking more closely, I found 6 more instances flying around. Everything happened on 20-30 sq. m. meters. This is the first time I've seen these butterflies, so I'm very happy with the find. Unfortunately, it was not possible to shoot in flight, according to this photo of the catch... DSC02409.JPGDSC02413.JPGDSC02419.JPGDSC02426.JPG[attachm

In addition to the reports of Dima and Alexey, I can still add maps of Shipov Forest and our route, which show that we did not really enter Shipov Forest, it is so large, powerful and impregnable. Travel with backpacks is best on roads, but you need to know where the roads lead and where they turn off in advance or have GPS. In addition, it is very tight with water and if you do not know the point of hidden springs, you will have to drag the water on yourself. If you're driving, you won't see most of the dorcadions, krafchiks, and racehorses if you don't stop often enough to explore the area. Some roads are not safe for passenger vehicles, such as a road marked with a blue arrow. In some places there is a knee-deep track, and there is nowhere to turn around.

Symbols on the map:
Pink line - the way to get there on foot
Blue-by tractor to the border of the forest, which we did not dare to enter, but preferred to cross the valley-pink line.
Green line - recommended way back to Alexandrovka
Blue arrow-recommended way back to Vorontsovka (very bad and long road)
Red line (7 km) - the path that we passed as a result (we were very tired and miraculously managed to catch the last bus).
Yellow line - the best route is 4 km., as you should have gone.

Well... the first pancake was lumpy, although we collected almost everything we wanted.
Now I'm planning a second light-speed trip to the Shipov forest, taking into account the accumulated experience. The generator will have to be left at home... it is very slow for 7 km. smile.gif

I will try to post a report on fees (light fishing, mowing, manual) later.

From June 11 to 17 of this year, he spent time in the Staroshaigovsky district of Mordovia (N 54°26 ' 45.1 "E 44°43' 28.9”) from relatives. The goal was to take my daughter and wife to the country air and nature. Well, get some rest yourself. Initially, the departure was planned until the 13th, so I decided that I would not put glasses this time. But my wife persuaded me to stay until the 17th, so I decided about the glasses in vain, but what's there smile.gif

The main hope was for night fishing, but alas, the weather let me down - only one night was suitable for fishing, and it seems that something began to arrive, but alas, the beginning of a thunderstorm put an end to the catch-I was afraid to make a short circuit of the lamp and curled up.
Interesting of the beetles, only the soft-bodied Malthodes (or Malthinus)managed to fly in

June 19, Bryansk region. Mylinka station.
A lot of mother-of-pearl and draughtsmen : adippas, aglai, latons, eno, paphias flew out, selenas, maturnas finish their years, most of all Atalia draughtsmen, didyms were caught. The last of the mnemosines are still fluttering, almost invisible among the hawthorns...
Fly the freshest swallowtails, polychromatic N. xanthomelas, iridescent A. ilia...
Hayfields of arcania, pamphyl, glycerion, hero, M. jurtina, L. maera flew out.
For some reason, the R. purpurata bear flew during the day.

Somewhat late report. Unfortunately, catching this year is not often frown.gifpossible Ryazan region, Kasimovsky district.
General observations-judging by the species composition and abundance of lepidofauna, I can say that the weather in this area is 1.5-2 weeks late compared to previous years, and last year's drought and fires did not pass without a trace...
During the day, swallowtails and podalirias, hawk moth-hemaris (both of our species) still fly, even one anglwing was caught. But at the same time, mnemosyne and polyxene, which flew out in due time, completely flew away, and the caterpillars of the latter are very numerous and already at the last age. A lot of hawthorn, I'm afraid, will now devour everything around. There are not many checkers, but in a complete set, myrmidons are rare, and hiale has not yet flown. There are not enough marigolds, except for haylofts. Of the whiteflies, ausonia is quite abundant. I've only met one A. ilia, and the limenitis haven't flown yet. Neither did the Apollos. In general, skudnenko. Off-season... The swamp biotope completely burned out last year weep.gif
The night is also not happy. Unfortunately, I didn't have to fish in the best place, because the gas pipeline was dug up. The nights are very bright. therefore, the age starts no earlier than 23-30. In the mass, only battered C. vinula & erminea, and fresh kossuses and willow volnyanki. Of the bears, only single sannio, fuliginosa, lubricipeda and purpurata (villi are common in the village, there are none in the forest). Also isolated and hawkmoth, which in normal years fly en masse: pine, eye, poplar, linden, small wine. Proserpine arrived a week ago. Very few scoops. Oakleaf and plum cocoonworms - one at a time, but fresh (males). We were surprised by G. populifolia - they are quite light this year, long-bellied and larger than usual (I even took them for females at first).
In general, so-so...

Today, being on a rebot, at lunchtime I jumped out to the park in the floodplain of the Kotorosl River (near the museum) in order to see honeysuckle rod-eaters, as well as other xylobionts on sick and weakened trees. The result of a half-hour run along dry roads: a few Ptilinus fuscus on poplars and brittle willows, a" bunch " of Epuraea sp. under the wet bark of a broken willow, a lot (took a couple) of Tomoxia bucephala and the most valuable: two females and a male Rhamnusium bicolor (previously unknown for the Yar region!!!). The funny thing is that I've been "hanging out" in this park for a decade and a half... There are no honeysuckle rod eaters... either "passed", or the population was undermined by last year's pruning on the eve of the millennium celebration.

Medveditsa floodplain near Mikhaylovka. Here I almost caught Necydalis major, confused it with a wasp, but then I realized what it was, but it was too late, the reptile flew weep.gifaway .
But on the umbrella sea of bronzes, which we do not have.

July 26, Oryol neighborhood, Luzhki settlement.
The steppe slopes became golden from massively blooming bedstraw, mullein, and elecampane.
In the sunny interval between the clouds, insects hurried to live, to fly.
Argus pigeons, buckthorn, chervonets ognennye, alcifron, sorrel.. oak marshmallows.
Daphnis are flying out, very fresh. At this time, alcon usually flies, but this year
everything has somehow shifted, they are not visible. Jaundice alfakariensis fly, huge swallowtails.
From the marigolds, in addition to haylofts and peepholes, galatea appeared.
This is the first time we've had them since last summer, and there was only one stray female. And now quite a lot of local brood..
I was pleased with the capture of the S. tessellum thickhead. Of course, mother-of-pearl clouds: aglai, adippa,
dia, from the nymphalids still fly Neptis revularis, N. xanthomelas.

I went to Korablinsky district of the Ryazan region for the weekend. During the day, with a variable area without rain, it was about plus 30, at night the temperature did not fall below plus 18.
During the day, Suvorov and Galatea flew, and xanthomelas flew by the THOUSANDS (at least in the few dozen that I examined, there were no polychloroses). The Khrushchs were accumulating young pines together with monohamuses. On the first night I caught on a split lamp, by half past 12 at night there was no white color on the screen, by morning small animals at the bottom of the screen could be razgr* * * zhmenyami. Basically, everything is banal - but the number is simply terrible, there were over a hundred small wine hawkmoth alone, milkweed under a hundred, etc. The females of purpurata and P. delphinii scoops were very pleased. The brown barbels on the screen were running around in dozens, mating, and even having group sex. Black dung beetles, female rhinoceros, one small long-whiskered barbel, two beautiful quails.
On the second night, I decided to make a joke, screwed in the usual non-pricked lamp and rested under the screen. In total, it was an order of magnitude less, i.e. those hawk moth that flew by hundreds flew by dozens, that by dozens-by units. P. delphinii was not at all, there were no dung beetles, one male flew from rhinos; the only thing that did not become less, but it became better to see-these are hundreds of ground beetles from 1-2 cm. The climatic conditions of both nights were identical.
Fish was caught poorly, mushrooms collected a bucket of boletus with mosses, meadow strawberries-immeasurably, the whole field is red, 5 liters are collected in an hour.

To sdi. Sergey you were born with an extremely funny barbel Xylotrechus pantherinus, firstly, it is sporadic, and therefore not frequent in collections, and secondly, it flew into the world, which in itself is strange.Gray barbel with a long mustache-Acanthocinus griseus, those barbels that in the mass and tried to arrange a threesome-Arhopalus (their 2 species I will not say for sure). If you still have Xylotrechus, then put it aside and I will be very grateful!!!

Xylotrechus pantherinus I caught not in the light, but shot it in the oak grove from the current oak. This mustache has already been booked by a Kazakh frown.gif.

On Friday and Saturday we went to the district of d. Purezhka (Pestyakovsky district, Ivanovo region). We traveled in the following train: ssacad, M. E. Smirnov and his wife (leaving Ivanovo) and I and my wife (moving from N. Novgorod). The guys were already there in the middle of the day, and I was called to work inopportunely on Friday, so I managed to leave only at 19: 00, I had to hurry, as a result, already at the entrance to the point, my pepelac unsuccessfully got stuck. With the help of local summer residents, the car was pulled out and we finally arrived on the bank of the Lukh River. We quickly unfolded the
screen, started the generator, and began to catch it. Alas, we were not very lucky, the temperature dropped sharply (it felt no higher than +12, there was steam from the mouth when breathing), there was not a cloud in the sky, so the year was very sluggish. There were no beetles at all, but there was a micra, 1 pine hawk moth, and quite ordinary (by appearance) scoops. At 2 o'clock in the morning, all hope of improving the situation disappeared, so we decided to go to bed.
In the morning they started fishing in the vicinity of the camp. Sergey and Maxim had already collected several specimens of Alosterna ingrica and Minesia bipunctata the previous day, which they were very happy about and were going to build on their success.
As far as I understand, they quite succeeded. I also caught coastal Dishirius and Bembidion (mostly from the subgenus Bracteon).
After lunch, we set off on the return journey, along the way a little posobirav in the vicinity of the village of Sezukh. There, on the leaves of toli raspberries, toli blackberries, I found 2 caterpillars of Eudia pavonia (as it turned out later) - I took it home, I will try to bring it out.
I'll post the photo in the evening.

P.S. Tragosoma depsarium again did not come acrosssmile.gif The places I really liked, and if everything goes well, then trips there will be regular.

The same Ryazan region, but 130 km to the north (Kasimovsky district). The Xanthomelas really have an outbreak of reproduction - a lot of them and all the Xanthomelas have smile.gifflown Apollo, so everyone can go for them. The death of swamp biotopes from last year's fire was confirmed, and Paleno, hero, and optileta have to say goodbye there. Hopefully not forever. On the coastal meadow, Oka again caught Suvorovka (Melanargia russiae), and not just one. At the same time, the butterflies flew, while at sdi to the south they were quite fresh. So, I guess we're not talking about migration anymore. In general, still poor. For some reason, there are no L. populi and L. camilla at all, although A. ilia is already flying with might and main. Mother-of-pearl flowers also fly, but there is no end of hawthorns at all. At night, nothing at all. A. willica just disappeared, isolated(!) common crested birds, hawk moth and dipper(purpurata, lubricipedum, sannio), very few scoops. From the beetles, a single hefty dung beetle, several Amphimallon solstitiale, and that was all... In general, the difference with sdi is striking, although I caught it on a similar pricked DRL-250. The vegetation is also strange: the linden has not yet bloomed, even in the village; the meadows are completely covered with yellow bedstraw, and there is no white one at all, just like the krestovnik, but the sorrel blooms with candles a meter high and a solid cover;meadow strawberries are just beginning to ripen, and the caterpillars of polyxena have already disappeared. There are no swallowtail caterpillars at all, despite the previous abundance of butterflies.

Denis, if you are driving along the sand dunes from Sezukh to the coast of Lukh by car, try to drive slowly and carefully look ahead to the road (especially after driving a little away from Sezukh), so as not to crush the beetle with your wheels: on a hot day, Tragosoma can just roll there (like Prionus) up on its belly on the sandy road, already dead from hot or even half-dead. And another thing: there will be more chances of Tragosoma in at least half a month, now it's probably a little early.
PS And apollo, judging by the silence on his account, has not yet flown there?

It's quite high time for the Lighthouse, but it's flying in Sezuhe later.
Interesting (M. B. reported already): in the Trans-Volga region in Chuvashia, Apollo flies in two very close points with a gap of almost a month. Information from a local connoisseur; I myself, I remember, celebrated Apollo only in one of them (pine trees on the coastal terraces) and absolutely on time. And the other point, later – is farther from the coast, closer to the village near the drained peat bogs.
