Where, well, where did you read about December? February, and even March - also not winter?

Guys, why argue about when to take the temperature. SPRING IS COMING, even in Moscow. And have you prepared everything for this moment, check : the nets were darned, the cups were saved after drinking water, the pins were bent, the pants were washed after the last trip? If you are ready, go ahead and don't forget to charge your cameras. People are waiting for reports.

Today is the first day in Kazan when the temperature rose above 10 degrees.
I took a walk around the city. The following species fly:
Archiearis parthenias
Nymphalis xanthomelas
Nymphalis c-album
Gonepteryx rhamni
On the shady side of a brick building collected a series of unknown micro species. Then my old net broke and went home.

In Orel, too, it is warm, a small trip to the Znamensky Forest Park.
A jay, wet from the night's rain, was dragging some large black caterpillars from its litter.
Fly lemongrass, xanthomelas, peacock's eye, anglewings,
fresh springwings A. parthenias.
In the forest, instead of a mother-and-stepmother, the truth was found thrown into the landfill..

Vasily, are you sure you don't confuse it with a young large mottled woodpecker? The average is extremely rare in our country. I've only seen it 3 times in 10 years. There have been isolated finds in the Moscow region over the past 20 years. But zhelna is just often found.

Actually, my first report on fishing (as well as the fishing itself)

Nothing special, but nice. Caught just from the window of an apartment in a residential area, the Windows overlook the neighboring house. Almost the outskirts of the city.
It was caught on a UV lumen tube of 18 W and energy-saving 2 pcs of 15 W of cold and warm light.

That's for an hour and a half of fishing that flew in.

Probably nothing special -banals (while I don't understand the classification and types at all))
But still nice),

I was in the Ryazan region. I didn't really manage to catch it. The first night - strong wind, rain, plus 1; the second night is great, but the electricity was cut off in the village, and I did not take the generatorfrown.gif. The set of nights completely repeats the set of Vlad, only without the sexton. Last night I was at my place in ukhtomka - everything is the same, even vetusta came. In general, this year I caught cabbage in all the places where I caught it, although usually it does not always come across. Yes, there are huge spills in the Ryazan region. According to the local population, there have been no such spills since 93. Pronya and Ranova spilled so much that he went back under a kilometer of distance along the " lake "(next to d. Troitsk), the maximum depth was 40 cm, from the side of "civilization", i.e. Ryazan/In Moscow, traffic police officers were on duty near the spill and tried not to let anyone into the cut-off villages, but still there were desperate people who tried to get through. It was possible with varying success, half of them stalled and were evacuated by tractor. Geese flew in and accumulated local fields. There are crowds of ducks on the spills, herons are walking.

First of all, with the initiative of all those who have already managed to catch this year!
On my weekend of April 15 and 16, I opened the season for myself in the Ivanovo region.

April 15th. I was walking with my wife and daughter in the south-eastern suburbs of the city of Ivanovo. Time: 14.00-16.30. Weather: about 12 degrees, cloudy with occasional clearings.
On a birch tree, it was possible to find the wing-drying Achlya flavicornis (Linnaeus, 1758) (yellow-whiskered down-leg), which I took. No more butterflies were seen, not even last year's ones. But the caterpillars of Phragmatobia fuliginosa (brown bear) saw a dozen.
Achlya flavicornis was dried and spread its wings in a jar for about 5 hours, after which it was killed and sent for spreading. I hope 5 hours is enough for the butterfly to fully spread its wings properly.

April 16. I reached the final stop of the 131st minibus in the town of Sedeyevo, Kokhma, then followed a wide track in a southerly direction of approx. 1.5 km. Time: 12.00-15.00 hours.
The temperature is about 17 degrees. Clear.
All fishing and the main observations took place in a small thawed area near the road near a pine forest. Bereznyak began about 50 meters away. There is still a lot of snow.

Encountered species:
1.AGLAIS URTICAE. I saw one, the quality is very good.
2.GONEPTERYX RHAMNI. Several males and one female.
3.ARCHIEARIS PARTHENIAS. Met about 4 pieces. 2 females were taken.
4. ARCHIEARIS NOTHA. 1 male and 1 female were found. Only the male was caught.
5. NYMPHALIS XANTHOMELAS. I've seen about five of them. All of them are only slightly worn.
6. POLYGONIA C-ALBUM. I saw 2.7
. Phragmatobia fuliginosa. In the caterpillar stage, I saw several pieces.

I wonder where Roman (AGG) went ?

17.04.2012 11:05, Dmitry Vlasov

Yesterday I decided to open the field season, for which I went to the old (more than 120 years old) city park. Snow in! (in the sense of ankle-deep), there is water under it, which does not go away because of the frozen soil...
Only the circles near the trees have thawed, but even there the soil is frozen, and some asphalt paths.
So I focused on finding beetles in the cracks in the bark of various trees.
Results for an hour and a half: (I took some of them, but some of the banals didn't)
Pterostichus oblongopunctatus
Platynus assimilis
Glischrochilus quadripunctatus
Dorytomus sp.
Microbregma emarginata (live grinder in the bark of live spruce) A NEW LOOK FOR YAO!
Psylobora 22-punctata
Adalia bipunctata
Tachinus sp. (with red spots on the elytra)
Dermestes murinus
Phloeotribus spinulosus
Pityophthorus morosovi
Surprisingly, not a single living Dromius (I found a couple of dead and falling apart), and I didn't see any active "scales"...
In general, I did not regret that I went...

I walked around the outskirts of Obninsk, all kinds of wintering imagos fly. Many are in good condition. On the asphalt I saw a crushed nemoralis, and a bright and large one, caught a gravedigger in years, 2 staphylinovs and an incomprehensible larva. When you went deeper into the woods, life stopped, the breeze grew cold.In the city, I even saw green horses, saw a passing mourning bird.Ground water began to drain into streams. From 16 to 17 I went to catch the light, in addition to the standard set, I got 1 scoop and 1 moth? The first time I see them, when they're done, I'll throw them on the spot.

Yesterday we were at peat workings in Sukhonogovo, Kostroma region, everywhere "porridge" of snow, mud and water. We didn't go deep into the swamps, so we fished from the edge. A woodcock flew beautifully, they caught one female lanestris, a lot of scoops, a couple of Lycia pomonaria moths, Brachionycha nubeculosa scoops, one scoop similar to a broken Xylena vetusta twig, the stars are huge and bright, on the hills the soil thawed by 10, 15 centimeters.

First of all, I would like to congratulate all my colleagues, participants of this forum and others, on the opening of the field season.
Last week (April 9-15), the temperature confidently crossed the zero degree mark, settling in the positive part of the scale, and active snowmelt began. I began to think more and more about whether it was time to open the season. And finally, on Friday (April 13), I decided to open the season. However, the first day did not meet expectations a little.
So, the place of action is the Ivanovo region, Shuisky district, the village of Krasnoarmeyskoye. I have a dacha plot there, where I spent two and a half days this weekend, arriving on Friday in the middle of the day and leaving in the evening on Sunday, April 15.
On the first day (Friday, April 13), the weather was terrible. The temperature is 7-9 degrees, cold wind, rain, sometimes strong. There was no question of going out in the fields during the day. All I could count on that day was catching the light, and that's what I did. It is no exaggeration to say that the conditions for fishing in the light this evening were extreme. Firstly, very rainy weather, and secondly, a layer of 30-40 cm of snow on the site presented serious problems for fishing in the light. The challenges are complex, but not insurmountable. In the evening, I had to spend some time to clear the snow from the fishing area. Then everything was as usual-installing the lamp, screen and actually catching.
It's not the first time I've had to start the season in such conditions.Something similar happened last year (although then it was April 17-18), the only difference is that on this night it was relatively warm, but rainy, and in the past at about the same time-clear, but cold.
As for catching the light itself this evening, nothing special has arrived. In the mass of Eupsilia transversa, a single Conistra vaccinii and only one Brachionycha nubeculosa. The number of Eupsilia transversa was amazing, as I have never seen such a massive species before. On the aggregate of two nights (Friday, April 13 and Saturday, April 14), about a hundred of them arrived. Of course, I know that Eupsilia transversa is a fairly common butterfly in the middle regions of Russia, there were times when this species flew to me in quite large numbers, but I have not seen it so massive yet. For the collection, however, I did not take all of them, but only about two dozen of the best copies. Also strange on the first night was the complete absence of micro-lepidoptera-neither overwintered Agonopterix sp., Depressaria sp. and Acleris sp., nor new Semioscopis sp.

P1140763.JPG
On the second day (Saturday, April 14), the weather was just wonderful-warm and sunny. I decided to take a short walk in the forest, visit some well-known places. In the forest and in the fields, the snow had not yet disappeared, and it was only possible to navigate through small thawed areas on the outskirts of the forest. There were quite a few lepidoptera. First of all, they were overwintered Nymphalis xanthomelas and Gonepteryx rhamni, and Archiearis parthenias had already begun to fly. A total of five specimens of springbirds were encountered on this day, but only one male was caught. In general, it was very difficult to catch them, because the individuals who were frightened (and Archiearis moths are very timid) began to climb along an intricate and unpredictable trajectory and fly away into the field, where at the time of that day there was 30-40 cm of snow and it was not possible to catch up with them in such conditions.

The light was much more interesting that night than the previous one. To begin with, there were again a lot of Eupsilia transversa and much more Conistra vaccinii than on the previous night, as well as two Brachionycha nubeculosa. Micro-lepidoptera flew. In particular, on this night in the mass were Agonopterix ?heracliana/ciliella, also managed to catch another unknown Agonopterix, not heracliana, not ciliella and not arenella. Also flew one sickle-winged moth Ypsolopha asperella, and some other moth of an unknown species and family. In addition, the arrival of a male and female scooper Achlya flavicornis, three specimens of the scooper Orthosia incerta, and a moth Apocheima pilosaria should be noted. However, the arrival of the Lithophane ornitopus, a rare butterfly in the Ivanovo region, was a pleasant surprise and the highlight of Saturday evening's program.

The scooper Lithophane ornitopus is a rather rare butterfly in the Ivanovo region. At least in my collection, this is only the second instance of this type.

Tonight near Penza there was a mass flight of birch silkworms. Seryoga Shibaev at work in the forest area in the morning under a lantern on a white brick wall counted more than 60 specimens of males and more than 10 specimens. females! We've never seen anything like this before - the bats have gorged themselves - they bite off the belly of a birch tree, and throw everything else away...
God, how we want to go to the fields - and tomorrow gr@anya subbotnik...

In the evening, Seryoga slept a little, I straighten out, krasoten...
