I would like to understand whose nest, hornets? 18.09.2013, Sakhalin, under a blueberry bush.

Yes, the hornets. But with the view is more difficult-it would not be a sin to see the most.
And so it remains only to guess-either Vespa analis, or even Vespa simillima. shuffle.gif

And by the way, who told you that the plant under which the nest hangs is blueberry? You were clearly misled. eek.gif

The second image (DSC_0105) shows not a hornet, but a female wasp from the genus Dolichovespula. Possibly D. saxonica, but also possibly D. pacifica. I'd like to see a bigger face to be sure... shuffle.gif

Thank you, Alexander Valentinovich, Ivan Andreevich and Alexander, for your help. I tried to enlarge the photo of the wasp 0105, took a picture of it in my garden, on a currant tree.

I couldn't get a picture of the hornets, so they dragged me away from the nest. The day before, we were walking on mushrooms, and my sister stepped on a nest of wasps. The whole crowd ran down the hill, but only my sister was bitten. By the way, wasps are constantly swarming around her. Maybe it's my makeup, I don't wear it when I go into the woods.

Images 0014 and 0019 remain undetected. Last year there were a lot of such fuzzies both in the garden and in the forest.

Cosmetics wasps really "love"... Why do you need cosmetics in the forest at all? confused.gif

Sorrows with hornets. The fact is that the nest is similar in position and general appearance to Vespa analis, which has not yet been noted on Sakhalin, but it can also be Vespa simillima, which generally prefers to be built in some shelters like hollows or rotten stumps. Its open nests are known much further south than Sakhalin. That's why I wanted to see the owners...

The wasp seems to be more like Dolichovespula saxonica, although not 100%. The differences there are very shaky. You need to see the o-panel very large to appreciate the dotted line.

Finally, "fuzzies" are bees from the genus Andrena. I won't go all the way to the species, since the genus is numerous, and it's not guaranteed to distinguish species based on "pictures" without material.

2. the edge of the 3rd tergite is not visible, possibly the color form of Chrysis germari Wesmael, 1839

Ants:
the first is the formica genus. The subgenus is also formica. Possibly Formica polyctena. To determine, you need to see the hairs on the top of the chest and on the upper edge of the head. Or be sure that they are not there. I can't see them, but I'm not sure they're not there.
The second is the myrmick family. Possibly Myrmica rubra. The antennal pits are similar. Big and with ring wrinkles like. But to be sure, you need to look at the head from the front.

Tell me what data you need, and we'll take a picture of it

- face from the front

-propodeum from above

But is all this necessary? You are not a neophyte, so try it yourself on the spot, using available sources, for example:

I can't. In Russia, it would be Messor denticulatus (coloration, shiny head, lack of spaced hairs on the upper corners and sides of the head), and in Georgia there are several other very similar species that I do not know.

This is some kind of hornet, if I understand correctly, but I can't understand why it has 3 stings?.. He was killed in the Loukhsky district of the Republic of Karelia, the wing and paw fell off from time, he is about 5 years old ... I thought that the long sting was some kind of steel needle, but no, it grows out of it. The second sting was split from time to time, it was whole. I wonder who it is. P.S. Sorry for the disgusting photo, the phone is still not expensive. If necessary , I will try to re-shoot in normal light and more clearly.

Google Urocerus and you will be happy ) The upper "sting" is the apical process of the belly-the cornus, the "needle" is the ovipositor, and what is split is, respectively, the sheath of the ovipositor.
