Maybe someone has met such an insect before? It is very interesting what kind of creature it is. I found it on the balcony, it was moving up the wall, along with its "cocoon". Cocoon or nest made of some grass blades or pieces of bark, 1 cm in size. Noticing the interest in its own person, the creature hid its head in the cocoon like a snail, but the cocoon hung motionless on the wall, as if glued. I carefully moved the cocoon to the windowsill, the insect crawled as if this cocoon was part of its body, when it wanted to hide, it turned the house upside down and remained in this position. At night, this caterpillar or centipede or God knows who, tightly sealed its cocoon. I put the cocoon in a holagol jar, opened it at night and it seemed to me that the creature was dead, I left the jar open. In the morning, when I woke up, I saw that the insect was crawling on the jar and eating the remains of the medicine. I was distracted, and when I got back, he was gone. Please tell me, what kind of insect crawls in your house without leaving it???

Today in Chelyabinsk I took this picture. Are the two objects captured on it related? What is a caterpillar and a pupa?

As far as I understand, these are mines (pupae) of the poplar moth Phyllonorycter sp on an aspen tree. But I couldn't determine which specific type...

Of course, the parasite's cocoon and the caterpillar on which it may parasitize are connected

What is the easiest way to finish feeding and at what stage will they winter?

What is the easiest way to finish feeding and at what stage will they winter?

Treetop, in my opinion, is too small, caterpillars develop for 2-4 years, so it's probably hopeless, it's better to look for caterpillars in early spring, adults spend the winter in all sorts of rotten things, and pupate in spring.
The cowl eats dandelion, lettuce, sow thistle, etc., offer wholesale what you choose and feed it. I don't know for sure about wintering, it seems that in the fall the caterpillar weaves a cocoon in which it overwinters, and in the spring it pupates in it. confused.gif

Cheboksary city, found crawling over an asphalt road.
It looks like it's trying to pupate - it starts to release silk, but it's interrupted and it's rushing back and forth in a frenzy.

Good afternoon, forumchane. Caterpillar on tomato.

Very lucky, this is the "Dead head" Acherontia atropos (Linnaeus, 1758), the female flew in early summer smile.gif

The horn is poorly visible. at the death's head, it is always curved, if not curved, still lucky - a new food plant for the gray hawk moth Sphinx ligustri (Linnaeus, 1758)

In my humble opinion, this is neither atropos nor ligustri. Here are two more photos. In the order of delirium-very similar to a Manduca of some kind.
