As far as I understand, there is a pupa. Wait to see who gets out.
I have no other option. What did you compare it to?
If it comes out, of course. I asked to know roughly when it should appear. Maybe it will winter at all, I don't know. And I compared it with the photos on lepiforum.

And I compared it with the photos on lepiforum.

On the lepiforum, the caterpillar is younger, so the pattern is more pronounced. If you have already finished reading, the pattern of these caterpillars fades or disappears altogether. Here here same as yours. smile.gif

Yes, it's true, it's more like these. Although vague doubts remain, Betula and Alnus were not around. Let's see what happens.

All in May of this year
1a picture: _________01.1.jpg

Those that are "in a bunch" are the silvery crested hole Phalera bucephala.
Very early, in May....

She never looks like falera. I have a bunch of photos of her caterpillars of all ages, and none of them look like these. And I haven't heard of falera caterpillars in the Moscow region before the end of July..... Maybe there is a link to the same photos in the definitions?

But in general, there are many similar caterpillars among the scoops, feeding in the stems and roots of plants.
