Beautiful beetles, well spread, all in a European way! And who is "Micrillus grecus Coiffait, 1951"? The name Micrillus graecus Coiffait, 1980 (as well as all other species of the genus Micrillus of this author) was reduced to synonyms by Asin in 2008. And Achenium propontiacum Bordoni, 2009 is not visible in the box, and Scymbalium anale is alone, but I have a series on cotton wool...

Yes, it is clear that everything can be done under a microscope and in minutes, but this does not detract from the scale of work, effort and time spent. Many lepidoptera have larger genitals than these entire animalcules.

Koba, great, but one small clarification-polychloros is written with a "Y", and one xanthomelas is mixed with polychloros (second row, second from top)

11.12.2014 12:21, koba

Dmitry, thank you for the correction. The demon got mixed up with polychloros=).But the question of the species belonging to this butterfly does not allow me to sleep at night for 2 years. The fact is that the animal was caught on Kopetdag, where only polychloroses fly.For myself, I concluded that this is just an aberration and spat on this case.

You don't have to look at your feet,it's xanthomelas. wink.gif

Let's wait for foot identification. smile.gif

11.12.2014 21:46, Kharkovbut

"Leg identification" - as it turned out, it is also not one hundred percent: I was shown a picture of polychloros with light legs. smile.gif The specimen that is currently being debated is undoubtedly xanthomelas. Why should he fly to Kopet Dag, especially if it was in 2012 - the year of global migration of xanthomelas?

I don't have any specific information. There are only general considerations about the propensity of Xanthomelas to migrate. In what year was this specimen assembled?

More: in the Vanessa box, the instance in the lower right corner is Asterocampa clyton (not A. celtis), the two instances above it are really A. celtis.

15.12.2014 0:29, DISAF

In the egeria box, a red-haired specimen is not an aberration. This is the European form of egeria.I have such copies from Portugal and Turkey.
