Please tell me, how do you distinguish it from surakovi?

Among the distinguishing features, the difference in the color of the wings is clearly noticeable. In surakovi, it has a more pronounced silvery hue. The underside of the wings is lighter.

picture: surakovi_ninae_Tabl_1.jpg

Polyommatus surakovi belongs to the carmon group. If it weren't for genetics, then I would say that this is Carmon. At least, it is very similar to the Turkish Karmons.

Polyommatus ninae belongs to the transcaspicus group, which also includes P. aserbeidschanus from the Caucasian butterflies. I don't see the difference between these "views" yet.

And if you also take A. huberti - is there a recipe for how to more or less reliably distinguish all three species?)

Thank you, the article is interesting. However, I found descriptions of one species and one subspecies, not two species.

Dear golubyanka experts, please help me figure it out. From the underside - a typical icarus, inside it is very similar to argus. What is it? July 1, near Bryansk.

It is probably one of the subspecies of Polyommatus eros. It should not be purple on the upper side (like argus), but rather blue. It is difficult to judge the colors from the attached photo. In what biotope was it found? Did the broom tree grow there?

05.07.2015 11:25, Oleg Nikolsky

Evgeny, thank you for your answer.
Clearing in coniferous and mixed forests on sandy hills, there is a river and lowlands nearby. The broom has faded, so I can't say if there is a lot of it, but in general it is widespread there. Now the yellow droc blooms profusely, there are still many herbaceous plants from legumes, whole carpets of blooming mouse peas. The photo shows an image of the golubyanka as it was seen by the camera, without any emphasis on the color component.
The presence of eros in our region is doubtful, according to the books it should be found somewhere far to the east. (although I have already had such findings, which do not fully correspond to the book's information).

The species is distributed from north to south. Italy to the east, by local subspecies. There is one in the Tula region (ssp. orientalis), but I don't see why it shouldn't be in Bryansk. Many places have not caught something yet...

In the books, you can also watch P. eroides. According to modern concepts, this taxon (with its subspecies: boisduvalii, orientalis, etc.) is included in the species P. eros.

And yes, sandy biotopes are quite typical for it.

Here the definition turned out to be a little more difficult for me.
1-4 Found this species Polyommatus cornelia. If I hadn't found it, I would have thought it was Eros. There is also a variant of P. myrrha. In general, I find it difficult! If anyone has photos of cornelia and myrrha can post?
5. There are no options at all.
6. Dorylas?
Then everything seems to be clear, but just in case I decided to check out
7. L. ottomana
8. K. eurypilus
9. local argus
10. Daphnis
11-12 Belargus
13-18 icarus? Something they are very different for one place, especially 16 strange.
