Dicallomera angelus (Tschetverikov, 1904) (or is it now fascelina?)

As far as I know, there are currently seven known species of the genus Dicallomera:
1. Dicallomera angelus (Tschetverikov, 1904) Russia and Mongolia
2. Dicallomera fascelina (Linnaeus, 1758) Practically the entire Palearctic (From Great Britain in the West to Kamchatka in the East) There are many subspecies.
3. Dicallomera kaszabi (Daniel, 1969) Mongolia
4. Dicallomera kusnezovi (Lukhtanov et Khruliova, 1989) Wrangel
Island 5. Dicallomera nivalis (Staudinger, 1887) Central Asia
6. Dicallomera olga (Oberthur, 1881) Primorye
7. Dicallomera pumila (Staudinger, 1881) Kazakhstan and Russia (Southern Urals).
Butterflies of this genus are my favorite volnyanki.
I present photos of all types, except for D. kusnezovi (for her, probably, you will have to go to the island yourself.Go to Wrangel smile.gif)

Finally caught this year a male Numenes disparillis 01.08.12 near Vladivostok. At first, I was very puzzled by the presence of white spots on the lower wings, but when I talked to specialists, everything fell into place. Males from Primorye have these spots, unlike Chinese ones.

Konstantin, did you catch it during the day or did a butterfly fly into the light ?

05.12.2012 11:50, KONI

To cajarc. Caught in the light, sat on the very edge of the screen. Until I caught it, I drank a lot of adrenaline.

05.12.2012 15:32, Grigory Grigoryev

Thanks for the information :-). I caught my own male, also the only one, in the light of Anisimovka. And I didn't see any females there.

Males from Primorye have these spots, unlike Chinese ones.

White spots on the hindwings are characteristic of Numenes disparilis. Another species, Numenes albofascia (Leech, [1889]), is found in Japan and China. This species is much larger and the males have monophonic wings and, by the way, they fly to the light willingly. I have such a butterfly from Northern Thailand.

But all these three species, along with several others, are likely to be separated into a separate genus. They differ too much from the type species of the genus, Numenes siletti Walker, 1855. Males of this species, by the way, also very rarely come to light.
