Again, the eternal question, ilizik or Japonica in these two pictures? I know about the contrasting white stripe in favor of Japonica, but ...

And definitely not Japonica? The external sling doesn't seem to be broken...

ilicifolia

Both of them? I thought it was a contrasting Japonica.

Hello. I have a question. Today, the last caterpillar of the cocoonworm Eutrix albomaculata pupated from a brood that I raised from eggs obtained from females that I caught this summer in Andreevka, in the Khasansky district. So, do the pupae of Eutrix albomaculata overwinter, and if they do, what should I do with them?

In the attache two pages from the book by V. V. Zolotukhin (from the expanses of "flora and fauna"): winter Gus. cf. age. You have brought them to pupation, i.e. it turns out as if the second generation. Hibernate pupae that shouldn't do this ? The issue is moot.

There are two options. The first one is a female Ph. insignis Laj., but I'm confused by the black belly. I only saw them in females from Kuku-Nor, very old collections, and this was a new species, not yet described. ВВЗ

Thank you. Just an hour ago, a male came out of the pupa. Apparently, other butterflies will appear soon.

Perhaps this is a cocoonworm of the Tolype genus, so I decided to post here. I ask specialists to connect. The place of capture is very interesting

Yes, it's interesting, but not only here, but also in America, there are no specialists in this group. I'll give you a little tip that might help. This is the genus Macromphalia.
It can be viewed in the nitida or purissima groups, but do not rule out the possibility that it may also be a new undescribed species.

Thanks for watching. The fauna there is very sparse, but something came across and I think with everything there will be problems with definitions

Does anyone know if this is a normal color scheme for a female Lasiocampa quercus? Initially, when I saw her, I thought she was a normal brown male. But the female???
