Gentlemen scientists, help! It's not the first day I've been searching for a solution-I don't know how to fight without knowing the enemy...
At the dacha in the Dmitrovsky district of the Moscow Region, something flashy started up.Sounds:all the vowels are short and so loud that you can't sleep ,sometimes the moans are longer.During the day, this hoot-akanye is heard here and there occasionally, and at night just a concert and"kurlykanye" chorus - like negotiations "oko-ko-ko".
It is based in Moscow.the house is located between the rough floor and the flooring, where the insulation(such as foam blocks) is located. It means that someone is small, considering that they are not alone there, since they can hear movement and dialogue, but they do not gnaw anything.
Kerosene mixed with sand and scattered in the basement helped a little-the animals weakened the sound, but a day later I had to pour fragrant sand again, but this is half-measures.
We tried to light a mosquito repellent coil and put it under the house-the activity decreased as well as during the cold snap, but for a day.
Even if no one recognizes this Person, tell me how to banish it.

pigeons live under the balcony, I suspect that from them.
"They're ticks. They must have come from pigeons. They can carry various infections.

"oko-ko-ko" under the floor... Toads, most likely.

"oko-ko-ko" under the floor... Toads, most likely.

Are you laughing??What toads between the board and the foam board, tightly fitted...
Better name the singing insects, because I'm not an expert at all(but I recognize the song of the toad).

Hello! Tell me, please, what I found at the table, which is rarely moved away. It looks like some kind of cocoon or dried skin. The size is approximately 5-6 mm. The color is lighter than in the photo, light brown.

It would be nice to post a recording of the sound of this "oko-ko". Maybe it would have cleared up something. Otherwise-fortune-telling... Okokoshnik underground, probably smile.gif

I don't laugh, but say the most likely option.
In the end, I answered according to your phonetic interpretation of the sounds that frighten you.
Dear maroya, and, sorry, how do you know the song of the toad, if you are not an expert? We have several types of frogs, plus toads, croaks, zherlyanki, chesnochnitsy... And they sing very differently. Do you recognize them all?
Do you give a 100% guarantee that you have a sealed chamber under the floor, where nothing larger than an infusoria will pass? Are you familiar with the lifestyle and habits of toads and chesnochnits?

Come here if you don't believe me

Hello,I have nothing to do with entomology, but the situation forced me.I live in Moscow.in the dorm and noticed that often in the room began to fly wasps and some other strange individuals with a long tail, one even lay on my bed and managed to bite. Then I started packing for the move and found something on the bookshelf.I looked at hornet's nests on the Internet, but they are not like that at all.Tell me who it is I started up and what to do with it.

These are nesting chambers of burrowing wasps from the genus Sceliphron.
They really like to settle down in rooms, on bookshelves, in boxes, etc. Inside each such clay capsule is an egg and a set of paralyzed spiders (do not be afraid they will not come to their senses) that the larva will feed on. Well, what to do with them is up to yousmile.gif

Thank you very much!!I really thought you were kidding me smile.gif
I studied the recordings in detail, and many voices turned out to be very similar: garlic frog, gray toad, screaming frog, cricket croaker, big-headed frog.Only their stay in such a place seems impossible! The house stands on pillars, the height to the floor is 0.7-1.0 m,in which there are indeed holes, but what amphibian is able to climb to this height and go back and forth for food, for example; and even directly under the floor to move for some reason from room to room.Floor sandwich(from bottom to top):roughing board--roofing material--foam boards--roofing material--clapboard.
Based on the technical capabilities, I concluded that there is no one to live there except insects. And don't toads need the proximity of water? The river there is 300 meters away.Of course, I am not familiar with the habits and hope for your knowledge.
As of today, the situation is as follows. There were fewer of them;on a cold night, the sounds faded, became like a plaintive moan(as after fumigating with repellent), and after a thunderstorm, they completely shut up, as if in fright.
I have to say that I personally don't live or sleep in this house, and I only heard IT at 12 o'clock in the morning, not in the middle of the night;and the recording was too weak, too much brighter by ear.The main sound is "uk-uk".
The main task is to banish, not recognize, although the second is unbearably desirable for me!Suddenly it turns out to be warm-blooded, it's a pity to poison something...

09.07.2013 16:06, Shtil

From the list you listed, either chesnochnitsa or gray toad are possible. The rest of them don't live here. Probably still a gray toad - these guys can sometimes get into seemingly incredible places. But to say 100% you still need to see the place.... After all, guessing at random is not particularly effective.
Toads need water only during the breeding season, the rest of the time it is a land animal, capable of moving tens of kilometers from water bodies. So they're probably...
Unfortunately, the only way to drive the beast away is to catch it directly, which in your case is almost impossible. Of course, you can poison it, but I urge you not to do this, it's still a pity for the animal, and technically it's also difficult. I will reassure you that the toads will not sing all summer and after a while you will no longer hear them.

What is this woodlouse approx. 3 cm in length? tashkent, uzbekistan

It's not a woodlouse: it's a cockroach or its larva. Maybe someone will tell you more?

10.07.2013 20:11, Zlopastnyi Brandashmyg

This is a cockroach-Polyphaga sp., female or female larva. The group is characterized by strong sexual dimorphism, winged males and completely wingless females.

Good evening to all!
Help, please, determine-who started up at our house, where to look for them, what they eat, how to fight, and whether they are DANGEROUS - there is a baby in the house, I am very worried about the child (((I find their corpses in almost all rooms, I can not understand where they came from?
Beetles are very small, cinnamon-colored wings, body, head and legs are black; with antennae. Length approximately 3mm, width 1.5 mm. They crawl on the floor, walls, and don't seem to fly.
I will be very grateful in advance for your answers and advice!

Who is this insect? Every night they stick to the balcony and fly into the apartment, somehow we manage to close the doors and catch everyone. For 2 days we caught 10 pieces, apparently in the evening we do not have time to close the balcony with the light on.

Features:

They appear at night. You can't see them during the day.
They have wings, but they jump like grasshoppers. Very sharply.
They have 6 legs.
When they jump, they hit the walls with their carapace or something, you can hear how they beat, we find them only by sound.
The shape of a calf in the form of a boat, bent slightly.
The length is approximately 1.5 - 2 cm.
We live on the 8th floor, there are no trees, so they either breed on our balcony, or still fly into the bright light.

Who is it? How to deal with them?

Some cicadas Cicadellidae. Most likely, they fly to the light. It is not worth fighting: there is no need and it is useless.

Thank you so much!!! Definitely her!

I began to study the question of how to lime them.
Something is difficult somehow: boric acid, vinegar...
Maybe someone knows a less toxic method, and then my wife is pregnant, I would not like to carry out a chemical attack.

Hello!

Help me find out who it is? They appear at night in the bedroom (outside the window is the final bus stop, hospital and park), love the light, as if they multiply very quickly, because I see them of different sizes from small and crawling about 2-3 mm long, 1 mm wide, to large ones with wings.
Small ones crawl, and larger ones also fly. You can't see them at all during the day, as soon as it gets dark. she thought at first that they had come out of the mattress, but the next day, when the mattress was drying on the balcony, she appeared in the same place only now on the floor directly under the chandelier, she also saw them on the tulle, on the mattress-nothing. They only happen in the bedroom, I haven't seen them in other rooms.

Do they fly in from the street or do they have a house in their bedroom? are they dangerous?

In the second photo, presumably some kind of beetle-safilin: they are completely harmless and most likely fly into the light, from the street. Please, for a more accurate diagnosis, take normal photos and do not forget to specify the geography: it is very important.

About the photos: they are fast, I will try to make them better. About geography: North-eastern Kazakhstan, Pavlodar. They are odorless.

In these photos, you can see the wings, it often raises its "tail".

Definitely a beetle from the Staphylinidae family. More precisely, it is impossible to determine from the photo (they are also" in kind " determined with difficulty). Fly to the light, in your apartment will not permanently settle. You can read it: http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Staphylinids
