Report on a hike in bad weather in Aleshkovskiye peski to Kazachyelagerskaya arena on 10.11.2015. In recent days, the air temperature has been rising higher than forecasters promised, for example, on Monday they promised 11 gr., but it was 15. I thought that this situation would happen again on Tuesday, so I decided to go camping. It was quiet in the morning, and before seven o'clock there was a small fog that cleared when the Sun came out from behind the clouds. However, it didn't last very long, and it went behind them again and never came out for the whole day. Somewhere around 12 o'clock, the wind blew cold and began to drive clouds over the "desert", then I went back.

But there were not many animals present: red-colored ants in the birch leaves, there are also anthills; golden-eyes flew among the pines; ladybirds are sleepy and not only among the fallen birch leaves.; there are also flies. I tried to look for cocoons of peacock eyes on a rosemary-leaved willow-so far to no avail. On the way back, I often met sedentary wasps sitting on the sand, they probably saved themselves from the cold wind in this way. But the most pleasant gift for me. as for the butterfly lover, the caterpillar of a bear crawling on the open sand (below in the photo) has become. I immediately thought it was Phragmatobia fuliginosa, but I'm not sure.

In general, the place is both beautiful in its own way, and interesting, and what I liked most of all is that there are a lot of birch spikes. Only under the birches there is now enough greenery, there is water and mushrooms. Also, now there are a lot of lichens.

We now have a transition to summer, then it will only get warmer, maybe even a few +20C will slip through, so the males will not sink into any Summer but will live and buzz jump.gif

Old women falling out

One old woman fell out of the window in excessive curiosity, fell and broke.

Another old woman leaned out of the window and began to look down at the wreck, but from excessive curiosity, she also fell out of the window, fell and broke.

Then a third old woman tumbled out of the window, then a fourth, then a fifth.

When the sixth old woman fell out, I got tired of looking at them, and I went to the Maltsevsky market, where, they say, a blind man was given a knitted shawl.

Mdya.. Well, to whom that, to whom grass, and to whom-summer jump.gif
By the way, there were a lot of Germanic males flying today - well, there were butterflies, dragonflies, and even ladybirds, different ones, and it was only after noon that it became overcast wink.gif
And there is a tendency that this will happen almost all of November, and even-not only November )

...And when else to dream about the transition to summer, if not in November, well, not in April, or not in August smile.gif

Well, well, and we already have an average temperature of no more than +3-4. And then even lower. Summer, however...

Well, well, and we already have an average temperature of no more than +3-4. And then even lower. Summer, however...

T +4 in December - this may be the worst option, but +10 may well be both day and night for a couple of weeks, yes, I don't know, this is such a fig summer smile.gif
But these are the last years in which we were too close to the taiga Union,
but from 2004 to 2010 in December and +15 a week in a row happened, and this is the English summer))

And then the fact that in February is already stable transition through 0C to+, and there 1 2 3 and the heat went, so this is to the fact that you need to beat the birdhouses for hornets and Germanic right now, and then as usual, and then only January, and then the whole February and then again it's already +25 and the uterus is flying with might and main and that's it, it's too late to beat smile.gif

Roma, every year you promise heat in the winter and almost every year you get -20 (this is in Nikolaev, we have something lower happens). Move better to the tropics where your fantasies will become reality.

12.11.15, Kherson region, a gully in the west of Berislav.

Of course, it won't be hot, but today was great. At night it was not less than 10-11 gr., during the day, when I left the house, it was higher than 15 gr. Today was probably the warmest day of the week. I was inspired by the discovery of Kharkovbut's lemongrass and went out to the steppe to look for it. I didn't find lemongrass, although it was spring. and in the summer I saw her in that gully. There are no daytime butterflies at all. In principle, they have nothing to eat in the steppe now. Only occasionally there are pre-flowering rapeseed bushes. There are more flowers in cities.

picture: IMG_1182.JPG
picture: IMG_1209.JPG

But in these bushes I looked for moths, when it was getting dark, with the help of a headlamp.
picture: IMG_1214.JPG

So there are a lot of fingerflies:

picture: IMG_1233.JPG

There are a lot of such moths, under one large bush 6 pieces can fly, they sit on their heads:

Near the place where I laid out the bait, which has already lost its smell, but has been bubbling intensively for the last few days, either a wingless or just emerged from the pupa scoop got out:

picture: IMG_1241.jpg

As it is, I haven't seen a single shovel.

On the grass:

On my way back, I met our biggest moth, Colotois pennaria. Calm.

I think that Hypomecis roboraria is still larger in size smile.gif

And the wingless butterfly is interesting, who is it? Like on the female moth is not very similar..
Such winter moths, but of course males, or similar nudibranchs, I also saw a lot today, but during the day. Belyanki I think 100% there, tomorrow I will try to make sure of this, and the days should be even warmer, we have a Euro-autumn, not like in the circumpolar Stalino smile.gif

12.11.2015 21:49, Alexandr Zhakov

Very lucky with a wingless butterfly, this is the scoop Ulochlaena hirta. The only species we have is an owl with a wingless female. Males are very common, but I saw females only once, but a lot, in the center of Zaporozhye, but alas, already 30 years ago.

Yes, there are always a lot of males in the fall, but alas, there are no females. You have to be very observant, or they must be out of their habitat, as I saw them crawling on the asphalt, between two narrow lawns. smile.gif

Djon, it is interesting, and what, in the center of Zaporozhye areas of virgin steppe were preserved, since they crawled there?

12.11.2015 22:02, Alexandr Zhakov

They are on cereals, on lawns, because they do not fly, so they are still very long agosmile.gif, for 200 years there is no steppe there.

And why do they have to live on virgin land? smile.gif Such males seem to be found almost everywhere, although I don't live in the city and on the edge, but there are more than one thousand years to the virgin land )

In theory, you can follow the males, they always "fall" somewhere in the grass, you need to try)

Is that why I've never seen one?) Probably because I live in Peski, everything is different here. Although there are also a lot of cereals in the swamps.

It is interesting that the female is so difficult to notice, so it was found and the males are not, in theory there you have a lot of males should fly, the sands are unlikely to have anything to do with it)

The sands have nothing to do with it, the males fly into the light, you can't see them during the day, they don't feed on flowers, they don't fly on baits. Roma correctly said that there are many more males than females.

But after all, I see them more than one season in the daytime, and very often, by the way, the fact that they sometimes fall into the grass and spin there, for which I took a picture of one of them today, of course, suggests a female nearby, but I didn't know that they have females without wings sitting on blades of grass, otherwise I would have searched))
