Catocala conversa, for July 27 quite normal

17.09.2017 23:27, NIKSTER

And also this summer, in the same place on 27.07.2017, this ribbon was caught.

For the Donbass, this is the second find of this species!

In Donetsk, the iris is quite common, but it is secretive and keeps, mainly in the crowns. As a rule, it is only when we arrive that the light is noticed.

There were three such ribbon holders. One I let go was very broken.

Good evening to all!
Chisinau Rose Valley Park surprised and pleased me again. Today, a new species and genus was discovered under the trunk trim: Patrobus. In Moldova, according to my lists, there are two species - atrorufus and assimilis. The first of them is not in the "green", but according to the photo from the network, it is more similar. Sorry for the quality of the photo, I took it on my mobile phone. The bug is pre-straightened.
If someone can tell me the view, I will be very grateful.

Why not? It's just listed there as Patrobus excavatus (Paykull, 1790).

Yes, indeed. Overlooked it.
On Monday, I want to go to this park again, and at least get a couple more. He can't just hang out in the whole park in the singular. In general, I go there for Masoreus wetterhallii - the only specimen was caught here in Dolinka two years ago. Since then, what just did not come across!!!!, and masoreusa still no. And it will be necessary to make a photo essay, an interesting place, Rose Valley.

And in the YAO, one of the points of Masoreus is the center of Yaroslavl!

And I caught it almost in the center of Kiev smile.gif

16.10.2017 23:49, Чегар

Thank you for the photos and tips about Yaroslavl and Kiev. But I will still look in Chisinau. smile.gif
I went to Dolinka today, but I didn't find anything I was looking for. I got one Chrysolina aurichalcea on the asphalt, I was surprised why it was so late. And under the back of the sofa (in the bushes away from people's eyes, which you will not find!) - in a fair amount of some Leiodidae, most likely something from Catops, quite small - 3 mm. There was a lot of bug stuff, but it wasn't the same... I took a lot of photos, but I won't show you anything after the Iranian report. The quality is in w .. pu, and there are no photos of beetles either.

I went to the village on October 18. Slobozhanske, Kharkiv region. It was a long-standing dream to catch L. dumi, and for two years it was not possible to catch it. This was already the sixth trip to these places and to be honest, I got the impression that I still missed the summer, but before that the weather was very unstable, mostly once every five days the sun shone and it was not very warm somewhere up to +15. In the Belgorod region, it was October 7-8. But we still flew on October 18. It was +18 .. 20 degrees Celsius. The sky was clear. There was a slight breeze. The next day, everything was overcast. For the third year I have been observing the trend of summer of this type before the impending cold weather, and this trend continues. What was made of butterflies is shown in the photo. A few days later, I caught another new species, Poecilocampa populi. I think the end of the season is great smile.giffor me !
What was not included in the frame:
Aglais io
Polygonia c-album
Vanessa atalanta
Pieris napi
Colias hyale/alfacariensis

Dragonflies:
Aeshna mixta
Sympetrum sp.

NIKSTER, is that what you were looking for in the floodplain meadow of Dumi? The greenery is still decently there, as I see it.

25.10.2017 17:17, Kallima

NIKSTER, did Dumi get caught flying or was she seen sitting down? I have seen this butterfly flying very often, but it is simply impossible to catch it! Or sharply to the side flies from the net, or soars with great speed. I'm not trying frown.gifanymore

It was sunny, so it was pointless to look for sitting males and on this day it was under +20. Moreover, it was only about two days old. I only saw males in the "overactive" state wink.gif, but I didn't see any females.

Yesterday I took a little walk through the bushes in the gully with a flashlight. I've seen a bunch of defoliaries. And in the steppe there are also khirtsas flying. And they don't want to fly very close to the flashlight - they fly away, but the light itself attracts them.

Today in the Kherson region was most likely the last warm day with a temperature of +19 degrees this year. In the evening, I walked through an oak forest plantation near Balka, which is located in the Kherson region. in the west of the city of Berislav. Full of moths! True, there are a couple of species (but I'm not 100% sure of the definition). You can't see them during the day, because they hide among the fallen leaves on the ground, but with the onset of dusk they begin to fly actively. As I walked back through the ravine, I saw butterflies not among the grassy vegetation, but in the bushes. During the day, I caught a glimpse of the white squirrel Pieris rapae / napi and the scooper-gamma. I apologize for the quality of the photo - everything is on the phone.

Yesterday, too, we went out with" shustov " to shine a light through the bushes. smile.gif The off-scale temperature of 16-20 + causes itching and a desire to go fishing.
13.11 were on 0strov Khortytsia, a lot of males Operophtera brumata, but all sit on trunks and branches do not fly almost-hot probably they are very smile.gifin flight only males Deuterotinea casanella and occasionally Acleris rhombana. in the light of the flashlights, one scoop was spilled. No screens were placed, the result is predictable smile.gif. The most interesting find is a female Erannis defoliaria.
picture: 1Erannis_defoliaria_f_IMG_0992.JPG
Yesterday we went to the right bank of the Dnieper, below Zaporozhye, in the floodplain of the small steppe river Baburka, In the afternoon the temperature was up to 20 degrees Celsius, according to the car thermometer, by the evening of 20.00 it fell to 12, a rather strong north wind rose. Again, the screen was not planned, the light from the lanterns, the search for samokpyadeyits well, so what gets there. smile.gif Again, a lot of Operophtera brumata, sometimes very much, but practically do not fly, sit, crawl up the trunks. In the light of lanterns, larger moths appear, almost simultaneously we catch two species of Agriopis with Shustov, one familiar bajaria, the second yellow, definitely not Erannis defoliaria.
picture: 1Agriopis_IMG_0999.JPG
We didn't have such people in the region. Either Agriopis aurantiaria or Agriopis budashkini. Both species were not previously found in the region, and in the Steppe almost too. The evening has become much more interesting. Sheltering from the wind in the bushes and floodplain forest for a couple of hours we were engaged in an intensive search. As a result, a couple of species of scoops perched on bushes, four species of moth, and males of Erannis defoliaria were added. Same as last night + Emmelina monodactyla. Yes, and we saw one female moth, which safely escaped the stain. smile.gif
picture: 1Conistra_IMG_1000.JPG
picture: 1Erannis_defoliaria_m_IMG_1005.JPG
picture: 1f_IMG_1013.JPG
According to the new Agriopis, they converged by 95% on aurantiaria, too yellow and light, but still a new species for the region. smile.gif

All Operophtera are brumata, fagata is not found in the steppe.

It doesn't sound very convincing smile.gif
If there is a remote steppe, then fagata really will not be, and if there are at least single trees or thickets of shrubs in the same steppe, then the species may well be. Although the species is more common in the forest part.

This means "Steppe" - a steppe zone. It is not known in Ukraine from the steppe zone.butterflies are quite well distinguished by specialists. There is no fagata in the "Wave Storm" photos.

02.12.2017 Kherson region, stepnaya balka.
It was very warm, about 16 degrees, the day was overcast at first, but around 3 o'clock the sky cleared and the Sun came out. Alas, the attempt to catch the light (UV lamp) failed, because the moon was so hefty that in the steppe you could see everything without a flashlight. However, one small insect arrived (as I understand it, one of the caddisflies). Also in the oak planting came across winter moth. Photo later.

07.12.2017 17:21, ИНО

So the supermoon is the same. And no one flew during the day?

07.12.2017 17:30, Wild Yuri

The limit is eaten up... Remove bad photos from the published ones and upload new ones. You may have to wait here for a very long time. frown.gif

07.12.2017 17:50, Wave Storm

ENO, I only saw one fly this afternoon. In general, before entering the steppe, I walked along the steep bank, where at the end of September, in windy weather, a lot of all sorts of animals were basking on the rocks. But now it's empty.

Wild Yuri, deleted several photos, but still doesn't load. I have already exceeded the limit by more than 2 times.

Did the toad climb on December 2?? If that's the case, then it's cool! Such photos on UkrBIN need )
By the way, about macro images with a DSLR, here is just a good visual guide to what exactly will be obtained with a normal working shoot)

07.12.2017 18:51, Wave Storm

Hierophis, it was crawling along the path from landing in a beam. As for the photos , dark photos were taken without a flash, with a flashlight and an aperture of 2.8, so they turned out like this.

07.12.2017 19:18, Hierophis

Well, this is what I meant by working shots, when there is no time for a tripod and other frills)
I still have such a catch today, I also took photos with a flashlight in the room on the ceiling with my hands)

What's so terrible about it? In my opinion, quite quite even nothing, but as for a night without a flash-generally awesome. With focus, there is a miss in some places, but Pan Stepovoi does not have autofocus at all. You need to manually focus on the enlarged fragment. DSLRs with live view in this regard are no different from mirrorless and advanced soap boxes. There is still not enough sharpness, but it may be due to a suboptimal resize. What would remain sharpness, it is very tricky to do it, and it is better not to do it at all. Otherwise, you just need to change the lens to a sharper one. Due to the large size of the APS-C matrix, the same Vega-11U will give a much sharper frame than Panov's microscopic strays on its microarray.

07.12.2017 19:25, ИНО

But pan has a terrible soap with color noise smeared on the shadow.

Well, why does pan deign to illustrate such violent emotions? Is he unaware of the well-known fact that the larger the matrix, the sharper the image with the same optics?
