Wherever there is an oak tree. It is not necessary to shine, they fly at dusk, you can catch them with a net.

14.07.2018 16:47, Лесной Кот Мэн

Hello, and where in the Crimea it is better to shine a light on deer, then in the vicinity of Alupka, 5 females, and 0 males

It is better to collect sweet bait.

Hello, and where in the Crimea it is better to shine a light on deer, then in the vicinity of Alupka, 5 females, and 0 males

In the Baidar Valley, it was always a good day in the evenings, without any light traps, you could catch just a few dozen with a net.

All other images are milkweed. This is somewhat similar to the southern one, but it is taken from the top of the head and the wing pattern may be distorted. If the size is normal, then this one is just milkweed. smile.gif

I apologize for being late, I missed this dialog. It is strange that all milkweed. Southern milkweed caught in this place on June 30, 2012 (Bolshoy Castel gully), the usual milkweed did not seem to exist at all, but the southern one then flew well.

15.08.2018 22:13, Sergey Rybalkin

Also collected on Tarkhankut Southern euphorbia, but 23.06.2016.
There was no ordinary milkweed.

Here is a photo for 12.05.2018, Kherson region, a gully in the west of Berislav (Shilova gully)

https://flic.kr/s/aHskHdVaH3

For me, this is the first time I have met a rural bear; it suddenly began to fly among the bushes, most likely it was awakened by strong gusts of wind. A couple of green moths were caught near the pine tree plantings. Alexis was also surprised by the unusual green coloring of the underside of the wings.

Small report for today, 09.10.2018, Kherson region, Korsunka village, wet meadows and sands in the plavni.

At night there was a frost on the soil, as a result of which low plants were covered with frost. I saw the first daytime butterflies after 08:00 near the trees in the sandy steppe - these were admirals. Here, in the sandy steppe, I found several nests with Oxycesta geographica caterpillars on the Seguiera euphorbia. Then the butterflies began to come across somewhere closer to 10 am. Most of them could be found on low-growing asters that grow in moist depressions. There were Pyrgus armoricanus, Pontia edusa, Lycaena phlaeas (most of them), tattered Polyommatus icarus, Coenonympha pamphilus, Pieris rapae flew by. Then I walked around, met torn flying pandoras, a couple of whole tongues. From a pleasant one for me personally-Lycaena dispar, although flown around. Also, only one yolk flew by - Colias crocea. Photos of what we managed to capture:

Report for 24_06_2018, Kakhovka city district, forest belt along the North Crimean Canal.

There are usually decent butterflies flying here, but all of them, as a rule, are banal. Unless at the beginning of April, lemongrass came from somewhere here. But this time there were a couple of interesting things for me personally.

First, a photo of what you can often find here (from what is not in the pictures - Didyma draughtsman):

Podaliriev was decent, swallowtail only one, and that - torn.

Now about more interesting things.

First, Leptidea sinapis. Maybe I didn't pay attention before, but this is the first time I've met this butterfly.

Secondly, this motley bird. Zygaena punctum, or what?

P. S. The egg was served.

Well nitsche seed smile.gif
We have leptidae - one of the most frequent butterflies that stay in the shade of trees, like galatea, by the way) I don't even pay attention to them anymore, anyway, you won't understand what kind they belong to )
I haven't seen such a mottled bird, but I've seen similar ones, but only with spotted wings.

Do you have leptidae in the gullies? Or even anywhere in the shade of trees?

17.10.2018 16:10, Hierophis

Well, in principle, they are everywhere, they do not care about the steppe or deposits, as long as there are plantings. They are not as many as galatea, which generally happens to be full of flying in the shade of trees, but leptidae is still very much, it is difficult not to stumble upon two or three just in passing)

Deciduous forest, in the evening with a flashlight.
In the mass of Operophtera brumata, mainly on oaks . I didn't find any females of Erannis defoliaria.

It depends on what you catch. If wingless female moths-then of course with a flashlight, males can also be found a lot. There may also be scoops caught and others

I put on a lamp, and if I'm not very old, then I go with a flashlight.
From fishing for diodes refused. On the lamp (CFL) still flies an order of magnitude better.

Unfortunately, I don't know much about flies.

Maybe someone else will recognize it...

03.11.2018 23:03, Hierophis

Probably something similar from these
https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/8262061

This is just one of those flies that lay larvae in wounds)

03.11.2018 23:15, Vlad Proklov

Well, there are species in the same genus Lucilia that lay eggs in dead meat, in live meat, and in the nostrils of toads...

It's just a multi-colored box, I've never seen one like it.

And what is the cool fly in the 4th photo?

I'd say a male Rhyncomya (Rhiniidae)

Th-the topic has faded somehow. I'll add a little report here.

26_11_2018, forest near Burgunka. I got out for more than an hour in the woods with a flashlight to see what there are of lepidoptera, already when it started to get dark. Winter moth flies en masse. You can find a lot of them among the twigs. Still mikrushki some flew out, but it was not possible to capture them. Also caught on the ash tree Admiral Sleeper. I wonder if tomorrow it would be sub-zero temperature, he would still sit on the tree? + optional spider and pouch cover. In general, I expected more, considering that there are a lot of oak stands in the forest.

Well, for a snack, calmly so a bunch of cockroaches from South America, (Blaberus craniifer) which for 5 months from the centimeter trifle that I shook out into the pit, vymahali before imago, and this is not a joke some kind of if anything smile.gif
All the animals actively came to their senses as soon as they picked up and warmed up a little, sprinkled them with dust carefully from above, maybe until spring who will survive )))

Peace and kindness to all smile.gif
