Barry, wow, you're cold!
On that day, you had up to +18 in the morning with a sharp collapse to +15.

Yes, in the first half of May it was up to +30, and yesterday by lunchtime it was down to +15 somewhere. It was a good thing I'd taken the precaution of putting on a light sweater and an umbrella, and Arthur was only wearing a T-shirt.
We still thought maybe today somewhere to give up, but the forecast was about the same (a little sun in the morning and in the evening), still decided not to go... and basically correct. Today, too, for lunch +16, and the rain was falling.

You are real enthusiasts! smile.gif
I wouldn't risk going with such prospects, I always watch the weather, especially I don't like it when the rain is fucked up. It's better to have a thunderstorm for 15 minutes(although it's also dumb) than cloudy weather. Today we wanted to go to the Crimea to watch copperheads, but I didn't want to - the probability of overcast weather was with rain, although not a big probability.

PS
And if it's not a secret, why do you need to take pictures of beetles together? smile.gif

Ha, but I just gave up spontaneously... It was good in the morning... smile.gif B Homolshan forest. There was an idea to look for L. populi, who was allegedly seen there. It was drizzling until midday, and it seemed like that was all, but then the weather cleared up. However, populi was never found. smile.gif

Well, sometimes forecasts don't always come true. Last time we went to Gusinaya Polyana, the forecast was about the same, but it wasn't so bad. smile.gif

And if it's not a secret, why do you need to take pictures of beetles together? smile.gif

Well, they run around, and sometimes they fly around the hut and all that... I shoot in RAW, the CD writes a frame for 2-3 seconds, during which time I can't see anything because of the diffuser. Yes, and planting them, getting them out, hiding them later is also time, and you need to be distracted... In general, this business is more fun and efficient together... smile.gif

12.05.2012 Kiev region, Makarovsky district, Stroivka village (in your yard). Until 23.00 it was flying well, and then a strong wind picked up and we had to wind down. I've never seen so many proserpines. On the lilac tree at dawn, there were so many of them ( I counted about fifty) that kapets. Proserpines have never been seen in my yard before. I also took a couple of scoops (Cucullia umbratica, Plusia festucae). Not rarities, but nice. Such a small report.

26.05-02.06.2012 Kiev, Goloseevsky district, Bald mountain. Result of checking traps. I was pleased with the Carabus exellens, one of the goals of our action in this place. On top of the mattress, caught on dark beer, on the bottom on light. As you can see , the difference is small.

On June 2-4, we went to the Carpathians: the village of Slavsko, Skolivsky district, Lviv region. On the first day we visited Trostyan Mountain (1232 m). In the lower part of the mountain (approximately at an altitude of 800 meters), I set up a dozen beer traps, and then we drove up to the top on a ski lift. In general, all sorts of subendemic and endemic leaf beetles and weevils abounded, in particular, several species of Oreina, Otiorhynchus rugosus kratteri Boheman, 1843, O. obsidianus Boheman, 1843, O. kollari (Gyllenhal, 1834), Liophloeus lentus Germar, 1824, and several species of Neoglanis. The second day was devoted to a hike to the neighboring mountain Menchil (1085m), and on the third day-removed traps on Trostyan. In addition to carabus (including C. auronitens escheri Palliardi, 1825 and C. linnaei Panzer, 1812), abacuses and pterostiches (P. foveolatus Duftschmid, 1812 and P. pilosus Host, 1789), a few shrews were unfortunately drowned in them, which was very unfortunate.

The weather was excellent almost all the days. The temperature sometimes went through the roof to +34. Generally lovely. Mostly I spent my time in the clearings. During the night fishing, the sky was covered, the only thing that lightning played in full force!!! I was fishing on an iron roof and it wasn't the most pleasant feeling, knowing that if lightning hit this roof ,I would be fried like in a frying pan. fishing did not last long. The lamp was above the open sky and a malicious drop fell on the lamp and there was an explosion and a purple flash.Camera_20120513_090724.jpg At that moment, my heart went to my heels( I thought well, everything came to my end and if not all my life ran before my eyes, I lol.gif lol.gif lol.gif lol.gifthought all the same lightning lol.gif lol.gif lol.gifshand rakhnula machine gun almost jumped off the roof, but I realized in time that it was a lamp bambanula weep.gif weep.gif weep.gif

Offhand, if this is significant, there are inconsistencies in the status information.
- in the photo C. macleayi – C. (Megodontus) obovatus;
- the locality of C. imperialis can not be Primorsky Krai, it is endemic to Kazakhstan;
- C. schoenherri does not live in Primorsky Krai.
And with information on instances - not really, but it's a pity.
And so, the site is nice, thank you.

Last weekend I caught the light on June 8 on the shore of Lake Leshego (Ushachsky district) and near the station Alesha (Polotsk district). The first night was cold and clear, the butterflies flew poorly, the second night was much warmer, it was overcast, a light rain fell. Well, the catch, respectively, was richer. I was particularly pleased with Hadena filograna - the second find in Belarus, another interesting one - Athetis pallustris, Lacanobia w-latinum, Senta flannea, Sideridis turbida, Hadena albimacula
catch of the first night:

Yesterday, despite the weather, which did not inspire confidence, I got out to the landfill near the house to catch the light. I fished from 23.00 to 2.30 on a sandy wasteland, near a narrow strip of pine forest. The temperature did not fall below +15, despite the overcast weather, only a couple of times a light rain began to drizzle briefly. Only gusts of wind occasionally dispersed the butterflies from the screen. It flew well, but there was no quadrangula or interesting haden. In the end, I didn't catch anything interesting. From the one not shown in the photo, medium and small wine hawkmoth flew, one eye and one pine hawkmoth each.

Despite the loss of our national team to the British, I found the strength to write a report. 16-17. 06. 2012 Odessa region, Balta neighborhood. We went with Ivy I. G. and Diletant. They caught everything in different ways (light fishing-2 DRV, mowing, beer traps for beetles, catching daytime butterflies). In general, I am happy with the trip, although it was quite cold at night and after 2 years it actually stopped and there were a lot of torn diaries flying around. But if you wanted, you could also choose very fresh copies. There are about 30 species of them. Cychrus semigranosus came to the beer traps, which made me happy. I didn't have one. Part of the beer, unfortunately, was drunk by Diletan-tom smile.gifand local pigs Sus scrofa. these did not disdain to poke traps.

In the steppe, about 5 species of barbel, several species of antaxia, small elephants and leaf-eaters ( mainly skrytoglavs) were mowed down. But since I mowed not myself but Buzman, I can't say the exact species composition. I don't collect these groups of beetles.

I just got back from a ribbon hunt. Fishing location: north of the Odessa region, a small forest in the vicinity of Kotovsk, not far from the house. Caught on wine bait.
I hung the baits from the edge of the forest

and along the old road deep into the forest
2.JPG

Catocala promissa was the first to fly when it was still quite light, somewhere around 8 o'clock.
3.JPG

Then, somewhere around 9, C. sponsa and C. fulminea appeared.
5.JPG

Here is such an alcohol company could be observed at 11 o'clock. Drunk butterflies lose their vigilance, so you can collect almost with your hands
6.JPG

Some of my baits were safely occupied by ants
4.JPG

Well, a few beetles also liked the bait
and where can we go without deer

A certain bronzovka confused.gif

... and after the wine punches on lyubovsmile.gif, you can throw in the topic "Photo interactions"

I finish fishing around midnight. That was such a catocal evening smile.gif
Well, as a result, a list of observed scoops:
Paracolax tristalis
Zanclognatha lunalis
Hypena rostralis
Catocala sponsa
-many, about 50 specimens.
C. nupta - just a few specimens.
C. promissa - very much. If desired, you could catch a hundred or two
C. fulminea - approximately 20-30 specimens.
Craniophora ligustri
Amphipyra pyramidea
A. berbera
Dypterygia scabriuscula
Trachea atriplicis
Cosmia affinis
C. trapezina
Lacanobia w-latinum
Mamestra brassicae

Are there lures on the nails?
This is barbaric.

Stas, you should have seen how we have a forest felled now ungodly in the immediate vicinity of Moscow and then all this lies for years serving as a breeding ground for pests (bark beetles, barbels, goldenrods, etc.): this is barbarism, and small nails are nonsense on a universal scale. Now I will go again for barbels and zlatkami to the clearing that used to be full of honeybees and, accordingly, butterflies of all kinds, and now everything is plowed up and logs lie all around.... Sad after all frown.gif

But on nails , it's still barbaric.

A reproach for using small cloves on thick bark ... It's like taking care of the cleanliness of personal weapons in the epicenter of a nuclear explosion)))

Well, based on the size of the ground beetle deer, carnations are not small.
