Neighborhood of Oryol, p. Luzhki.
The steppe has burned out, but the last cornflowers still have eye-shaped mottles and ephialite.
In the photo, where two mottled birds are also ephialite? Only Corydon's pigeons are numerous here, and Meleager has seen them. Below, in a small ravine on the edge of the forest, there is teleus and navzitoy, flying together. But there are very few of them. Once in this place grew a lot of krovokhlebki, but then someone decided to remove the fertile layer of soil. Now there is a Canadian goldenrod growing here, which has filled the entire bottom of the gulch, alas.

On the right bank of the Don River, both to the north, in the area south of Voronezh, and to the south, in Liskinsky and Pavlovsky districts, according to my data, there are reliably C. convexus (bayrachny and plakorny forests, April-June),

C. convexus is found almost all over the region. you can find it in the forest, but why make life so difficult for yourself, because it feels great in the birch forest belts along the edges of the fields wink.gif

Black hellebore (DSC_0284.JPG) - a fun botvina, but I think overrated, either there are few botanists, or they are blind and do not go further than the office, and it's hard to put it in the herbariumwink.gif.

It is not listed in the Red Data Book of the Orel region. It is not particularly noticeable when it does not bloom,it is lost among other herbs. Maybe that's why it's considered rare? White is visible from a distance and without colors.

I've been using these methods for years, but it's obvious that I'm in the wrong places or out of luck. If there were even half as many small mammals as carabus, I would consider it a success. Actually, I reported about the carabuses in passing, just as an observation, and not on the verge of suicide, and without them there is enough interesting stuff here.

The pine slopes above Potudan, there was a case, examined on the opposite bank from Soldatsky, about east of Ezdochny. I also examined the pine forests in the Petropavlovsk area to the full depth from the shore; everything reeks of plantings a mile away-except for pine, even the borovaya vegetation is almost undeveloped, and the fauna seemed very eurytopian. Probably, we are just spoiled here by pine forests near Moscow.

I do not mean Divnogorye within the museum limits, but as the entire chalk hill, cut by gullies and pitted by quarries, and in this capacity it strongly goes into the Ostrogozhsky district, rests almost on the borders of Ostrogozhsk - at least, it goes beyond the last railway station before it (126th km), and only here do vegetation and insect species change.

In general, thank you for the information, especially by type. Red highlighted the incomprehensible.

He was referring to Carabus clathratus (golden-backed ground beetle). Active all season from May to October, last Saturday, for example, caught in the Moscow region. In May-June, it flies into the light, and then either in glasses, or thoughtfully poking possible shelters (during the day). But sporadic. Usually very wet flooded floodplain biotopes near the water boundary, including slow-flowing rivers, oxbow lakes, and swamps. At night, it can sometimes be spotted and caught in shallow water (it can walk on the bottom, including under water).

Still driving the fraxini - this is only what got into the frame. They're everywhere - on the ground where the bait has landed, on the branches around us, and on me. On the ground - already booze in the board-you can take it with your hands. the mouse also came to devour the fermented melon seeds.

Gentlemen experts-fresh males of Diacrisia sannio on August 16 - is this normal?

17.08.2018 17:51, gokenin

June 19, Bryansk region. Mylinka station.
A lot of mother-of-pearl and draughtsmen : adippas, aglai, latons, eno, paphias flew out, selenas, maturnas finish their years, most of all Atalia draughtsmen, didyms were caught. The last of the mnemosines are still fluttering, almost invisible among the hawthorns...
Fly the freshest swallowtails, polychromatic N. xanthomelas, iridescent A. ilia...
Hayfields of arcania, pamphyl, glycerion, hero, M. jurtina, L. maera flew out.
For some reason, the R. purpurata bear flew during the day.

Good afternoon!
Can we clarify whether Swallowtails are Podaliriyas or something else? And what is interesting there now at the end of August? Is it necessary for Snowball to cross the bridge?
Thank you.

Swallowtails and podaliriyas are different species. Podalirii-a rare butterfly in the Bryansk region, it is unlikely that you will see it, swallowtails are now flying, you can meet them. What else you can see from the butterflies, it is best to look at https://insecta.pro/catalog, in the right column, specify what you are looking for, the month of August, the Central and Central Chernozem regions of Russia. If you are interested in what butterflies there are in the Bryansk region, you can look at http://butterflies-32.net/, all images have dates.

This year, podalirium has become very common in Kiev, it was also found in the central part of the Chernihiv region, so it can be registered more often with you.

In general, in another year I would say that no, but for this year it's normal!) We have in Western Siberia, the leaves on the trees fully bloomed only on June 15-17, it turns out that summer only a month and a week ago as it began, so it's probably normalsmile.gif, although for normal stable weather, the 1st generation should already be flown. But! There is a second generation in some warm years. I'm not familiar with the temperature in your area, but it can be.

We have the opposite!!! I don't remember such a year - all summer the heat is over +30 and yesterday - only five rains frown.gif. Everything bloomed violently, sharply and incomprehensibly... The bird cherry intertwined with the mountain ash and caught the lilac on the way out.... The timing of the summer also changed accordingly - everything flew off in just a few days. Fresh admirals flew almost all summer confused.gif

In Kiev this year: the end of April-the beginning of May (several copies), the first half of July (usual) and the other day one copy. Probably develops on apricots.

I tried to catch the light in the country. 100 m from the river, on the bank of willow bushes, birches, pines. No one arrived. Don't they "take root"in dachas? And what is the probability of meeting them (catocals) in the daytime? And in what biotopes is it preferable? Thanks!

Katokalki are perfectly caught almost everywhere. Nupts and Fraxini, so those, in my opinion, do not know the limits at all. In the afternoonconfused.gif. Especially inquisitive and find them during the day.

Of course, you can do it during the day. In deciduous forests, parks, and forest belts. Most often on sloping tree trunks or thick branches on the underside. But butterflies are usually very shy and you need to use all your stealth and surprise to catch them, and if they are not there, you are doomed to failure)

Catocals usually sit on trunks low from the ground, if you scare them, they sit higher. They choose the side opposite to the sun,and during the day they crawl or flutter behind the shadow. When there are a lot of them, it is very easy to find them during the day. In one year, in an alley on the outskirts of the city, almost every tree had nupts and sponsas, diluted with fraxini.

There is no way with katokals yet. But the guest flew directly to the dacha! The truth is without one "tail"! The cats probably did their best...

Here the species is monstrously rare, and the timing is closer to October. No one who knows him goes to pick him up. And we are not agronomists, sitting in the fields, and from the center of the metropolis to go half a day somewhere for a "virtual" butterfly, no one has the time and desire... You clearly have a better chance smile.gif

We hardly dig... frown.gifAnd he doesn't stay in the vegetable gardens, I actually saw him once in my whole life, under a Meadow, on October 5: he flew through a forest clearing like a bullet. All single observations of the species in the Leningrad region are confined to the vicinity of Luga; only once a caterpillar was found on the Karelian Isthmus. Well, really-really now no one is watching, difficult times for St. Petersburg fans...
