poor guy argentatus clung to life from the last weep.gifone by the way, it's interesting-there are a lot of argentatus on the birches, as well as goosebumps, but I've never seen the latter behave so aggressively confused.gif

The argentatus, as far as I understand, is not hairy and has a head tube tapering into a cone.

I decided to see what lives under the bark in these parts and chop up all sorts of rotten stumps. The snow here in the forest will probably lie for a long time. Normally, you can only move along paths, and even then, a step to the left, a step to the right, a failure. However, just moving along the path is not interesting, we had to make deviations to the dead wood, where every meter is difficult, on average in the forest there is a layer of snow 40 cm. Rubber boots in this regard were irreplaceable, but only they do not hold any heat. At the entrance to the forest, a fallen pine tree was found. I thought that under the bark I would find Rhagium, Monochamus, but I didn't find anything like this. I didn't meet any ill-fated bark beetles either, the passages under the bark are more like the activity of nematodes, although there are enough flight holes. As a result, from the first pine, I collected a couple of Phosphuga atrata (so as not to be completely wasted), one leaf beetle, ground beetle, and also drupes scurried under the bark in special abundance – in general, it's poor. Well, the tinder mushroom found a couple of small ones, although when using exhumation, two beetles fell, one remained. A little further in the forest, not far from the path, I stripped the bark of a standing pine tree, where I also found beetles unknown to me, also in the definition. Here is such a spring here. I was terribly cold in my rubber boots, so I didn't go through the entire planned route, and there was no need, in fact. Unknown beetles in the definition.

I have a house in Gus-Zhelezny, this is the north-east of the Ryazan region, the border with the Vladimir region. Podaliriy is considered a migrant, but I see and catch it every year from mid-May to mid-June. He's never been a migrant. See my May reports for previous years in the same topic. The tracks were right in the yard on the drain (there are also photos in the reports). The main stations are located right in the village and in the forest nursery. And in the last place I saw the laying of eggs on a wild apple tree, and last year - on a chokeberry (Chokeberry, Chokeberry), which I did not expect at all, I never saw anyone eat it at all.

I also confirm it. Bred podaliriev from caterpillars found on a plum (early August) in the village of Deulino, Ryazan district, Ryazan region.

Hello!
We have winter again in Ivanovo, although a month ago I was going to open the season at about this time-not fate.
But I can remember something from 2009.

June 13. Ivanovo region, Ivanovo district. Route: m. Sedeyevo (southern outskirts of the city of Kohma and on the road 2 km. to the south. The main fishing spot is the edge of the forest (mixed, mostly pine, birch) near the road 2 km away. south of the town of Kohma, before reaching the abandoned gardens. Time: 11-16 hours.
Weather: directly at this time, it is sunny, slightly cloudy, the wind is not very strong, the temperature is about 30 degrees.

Encountered species:
1. AGLAIS URTICAE. They flew in huge numbers all over the road and in good condition.
2. APORIA CRATAEGI. Also on the road met with a dozen.
3. ARASCHNIA LEVANA. At the edge of the forest on the flowers met 4 pieces, quite shabby.
4. CLOSSIANA SELENE. These mother-of-pearl birds flew along the edge of the forest and not far from the road in huge numbers. I took five pieces for the collection. They fly very well and slightly flown.
5. GONEPTERYX RHAMNI. Met with a terrible state of female.
6. LIMENITIS POPULI. There were a lot of poplar tapeworms flying, mostly along the road, but some individuals also flew into the forest. I took three. All fresh.
7. LOPINGA ACHINE. There were a lot of Krupnoglazok on the edge of the forest, five were taken by me for the collection, like all males and all fresh.
8. OCHLODES SYLVANUS. These thickheads flew in considerable numbers on the road, roadside and along the edge of the forest. I took three.
9. PARARGE AEGERIA TIRCIS. The second marigold met at the place of fishing. I saw two, took one.
10. PIERIS BRASSICAE. A couple flew.
11. PIERIS NAPI. A couple of pieces, one managed to make out a closer look-a fairly flown male.
12. I saw in flight some blue pigeon and many small raznousykh, which I had no desire to take and consider.
Unfortunately, the photos were not saved.

I have a question about PARARGE AEGERIA TIRCIS. I read that the summer time of this butterfly is from the end of April to the end of May, and the second generation is from July to the beginning of August. How come I caught a pretty good specimen in mid-June?
In general, for me, practicing butterflies is an easy hobby to brighten up the gray working days, I don't do it very seriously, so I'm not a good specialist in this matter. In this regard, I can ask "childish" questions, do not blame me.

two generations. absolutely unambiguous.

12.04.2011 17:40, Олег СССР

two generations. absolutely unambiguous.

according to vekipedia, the Egeria kraeglazka gives two generations and flies from March to June the first and from July to September the second. Not exactly the same in my case, as the butterfly is caught almost fresh in mid-June, a little worn and all. According to wikipedia, it should have been in poor condition. Or the second generation flew much earlier.
If you believe the determinant "Diurnal butterflies of Eastern Europe" Ivy et al., it is MAINLY 2 years from the end of April to the end of May the first and from mid-July to August the second. It doesn't add up at all.
If you believe Kotubegemot, then in the middle zone, that is, in the place of capture, only one generation in June and then everything falls into place. KotuBegemotu believe more smile.gif
Unfortunately, I can only judge by one specimen, I have never seen this butterfly again.

I caught egeria from mid-June to late July, but this is in the north of the Moscow region. I've never seen the second generation.

In Central Ukraine (Cherkasy region), I dare say, there are clear 2 generations and either a partial third, or well, very long years of the second. The earliest butterflies are at the end of April, the latest - September 22, fresh.

So you have 3 generations. The third is probably optional.

Spring in Saratov is not just late, but does not want to come at all weep.gif
However, I successfully skipped a couple of classes (a test was expected, which I didn't prepare rolleyes.giffor ) I went to the nearest forest.
At first, I tried fishing in the pond, but there are very few swimmers, mostly small things like Graptodytes. A little upset, I decided to pick at the stumps, but peel off the bark. I found a lot of interesting things! Including an interesting pupa in a pupal cradle (maybe experts will say what kind of butterfly will come out of it?), a whole colony of bedbugs (Aradidae), there were probably 20 of them! Funny bedbugs "guarding" the Moorish darkling. And finally, under the bark of a poplar tree, I found the larvae of some zlatka, but their further fate is very tragic shuffle.gif

I caught egeria from mid-June to late July, but this is in the north of the Moscow region. I've never seen the second generation.

I do not claim to be the ultimate truth, but for 20 years we (Udmurtia, it seems, and Krulikovsky 100 years ago) have not found egeria in two generations. Last year, summer produced TWO generations that were barely distinguishable by the habitus. I can take a picture if anyone is interested.

13.04.2011 19:42, Nordsud

Last year, I had a chance to catch egeria on September 17 in the Yegoryevsky district of the Moscow region. So the second generation is possible, at least in some hot years.

13.04.2011 20:52, AGG

we have, as I wrote, two clear generations - the May one-more intense and the August one - with a smaller number. and what is not quite typical for satyrid-May-every year

13.04.2011 21:32, А.Й.Элез

The year before last, a second-generation specimen of Egeria was recorded in the vicinity of the village of Beloomut in the Lukhovitsky district of the Moscow Region in the second half of August.

13.04.2011 21:41, AGG

it was a long summer.

In 2010, I repeatedly observed representatives of the second generation of egeria in the Chekhov district of the Moscow region from the beginning of August to the beginning of September.

What is not necessary-you can take a picture, beautiful and interesting-to process and in the collection, but drunk to step on a bag of mattresses with deer and zlatkami and barbels after a week of fishing in the oaks of the Volsky district and throw it all away later, without sorting?I don't even catch bream, because they're not EDIBLE,but I'll buy silver carp for food if I can .this is necessary. The night material should not be afraid of me,but of lanterns and cars, the day material should be afraid of birds, great chemists, everyone is afraid of wild fire.
