Penzyak, of course, all fees are surveyed - all data is on the mattress inserts. Before that, I kept butterflies in the form of tattoos, but this season, due to the number of catches, I switched to mattresses. And then I found out what kozheedy is... So the experience of dealing with them is already there (thanks to your and other tips on the forum), all the mattresses have already been frozen and etched, now they are stored in plastic bags and are waiting for straightening.

I went to Stavropol after the outgoing summer. I didn't get the summer, but I met the heat in a dull and dried-up autumn landscape. All around are dry and nasty thorns, all fingers are covered with splinters. There are no beetles on plants at all, all collections are exclusively under huge stones, even leaf beetles, and a little under the bark. Although no, on the dried blackberry tree sat a gold leaf Coraebus? rubi, and that's all. Even Mantis religiosa was only seen 2 times, and once Saga pedo. Fillies are sparse and few in number, Italian prus is scarce, but there are plenty of acridas in places. Although, of course, at first I was amused that in parks instead of Carabus nemoralis Carabus exaratus, and in the fields behind the tractor plow instead of rooks, eagles fly for some reason. But then I quickly got tired of it. When I realized that you can only find them under boulders, I began to turn them around and slowly collected a small mix of ordinary, but pleasant southern fauna. There are a lot of trechuses, but no matter how much I threw myself at them, I always found myself Trechus quadristriatus. Landscapes are similar to the Mountain Crimea in the untouched part and standard ones in the plowed part. You can take a look for yourself
DSC03395.JPG
DSC03369.JPG
DSC03398.JPG
In any case, the almost complete absence of harpalins under the stones is surprising, only once I found Dixus obscurus and Harpalus rufipes in the plowed part of the fields-where without it. But there are a lot of Calathus everywhere-such as melanocephalus, distinguendus, ambiguus, fuscipes. Caught a Pterostichus of the aetiops type in the virgin part. Without much difficulty, I found a population of Carabus hungaricus and made sure that it is almost everywhere on the untilled hills. I was amused by his behavior - when discovered, he first mows under the blap, freezing with the back of his body raised. In principle, it turns out quite reliably.
DSC03371.JPG
DSC03370.JPG
DSC03367.JPG
Despite the warm nights, fishing killed the light-only 3 fleas came from the beetles on the DRL-400 in the virgin steppe. I was completely knocked down by this, because I had high hopes for the light. After all, even if you turn on the lamp in the Moscow region now, there will probably be more beetles - at least Bledius and some water-loving swimmers will always fly. By the way, many thanks to Sergey Pavlyuchuk for the opportunity to catch the light.
DSC03380.JPG
[attachmentid ()=153973]
Out of boredom, I began to catch a scoop and collected as many as 4 pieces-no joke. Suddenly someone needs a thread. Free of charge, i.e. for free. Naturally, because there were almost no butterflies either.
DSC03406.JPG
DSC03407.JPG
DSC03408.JPG
DSC03409.JPG
So all I had to do was move the boulders. And I turned them around. In this regard, I came across Otiorinchus of non-Slavic appearance, Pilemostoma fastuosa, Chrysolina marginata, and only on the penultimate day I was lucky - I collected three Attaephilus from Messor. Although I looked very carefully into the anthills, I never saw any more myrmecophilic beetles. Lots of ant scales, some mites. I was very surprised by a huge myrmecophilic cricket at Formica in one place, more than 1 cm long, dark brown, throwing its owners around, running through their galleries. Unfortunately, I had only a small test tube prepared for myrmecophilic beetles in my hand, and when I was about to catch it just with my fingers, of course, it calmly galloped away. What else? I collected Silvanus unidentatus under the poplar bark, and under the robinia bark I managed to find dried white rot, and therefore there were immediately some Cryptophagus, Diaclina testudinea ,Cryphaeus cornutus, Tenebrioides mauritanicus, and some Mycetophagus that was faster than me and therefore remained alive. That's kind of sad. I did eat some grapes, though.

With an accuracy of 0.8 meters, I can, but what is the point for a perfectly flying butterfly? :- )

Flew every night strictly 2 pieces. What, very rare? We also had them last year.

We don't have many places, yes. In Europe, it is known only from the Astrakhan region.

On September 22, 2012, I caught an almost non-flying haymarket named Arcania. Here in Lipetsk, this is a common butterfly for June-July. I've read in the literature that it also flies in August, but I've never met it in August. Can you tell me if this is the second generation or so many years old?

Haymarket arcania in the forest-steppe flies in June (maybe in the south from the end of May) - July and rarely flies in our latitudes in the 2nd generation. This is the 3rd case I know of. About the previous 2 - in the Tula and Lipetsk regions. - see where "Eversmannia", article Bolshakov, Mazurov, 2012.

In our country (Kharkiv region), I registered single copies of the 2nd generation at the end of September 2010 and 2011; before that, this was not observed. Let's see if it will happen this year. smile.gif

Yesterday (30,09) I was in the forest, 30 km from Tambov. The main goal is to take photos of autumn leaves. During the day it is very warm up to + 25.
Diurnal butterflies: Pieris napi-isolated, Nymphalis xanthomelas-isolated, Polygonia c-album-masset, Melitaea ? athalia/britomartis.
Nocturnal: broken Catocala nupta and several Orgyia antiqua males (2nd generation).
Beetles: a mass of Coccinella septempunctata and Anoplotrupes stercorosus, as well as Anatis ocellata, Exochomus quadripustulatus, Harmonia quadripunctata many different Staphilinidae on fungi.

Since October 28 in Yaroslavl there is snow and six-legged animals outside the premises lay down for the winter. But today, at a positive t (+ 5), diptera became more active: blood-sucking mosquitoes of the genus Culistela and carrion flies.... And in the evening, a weevil similar to B. zoilus was sitting on the wall lit by a lantern. Of course, I took the beetle, but I haven't even killed it yet and I haven't defined it properly....

Yes, Victor, that's right! All right. They were caught in the same water bodies, you have the coordinates (I indicated them on the labels for the widest ones that were sent to you earlier).
Laponicus is a little more difficult than other species. There were years when they were very dominant. I caught them in large numbers - by volume, approximately, a small bucket of 5 liters. They've only met sporadically in the last few years. Population fluctuations, however... The widest ones are stable. Catches vary little from year to year - from 3-4 to 10-15 specimens.

Sorry for the dullness (I'm not an entomologist). Aren't there any on the mattresses? I, naive, thought that they predominate in me. Or is it a different view? For example, photo 4331.

Precisely! It is extremely sporadic and local in our country. I have Dytiscus lapponicus in my collection from the Borisoglebsky district of our region.

In Yaroslavl, the last two days and nights are good + (from +5 to +8)... during these days on the walls in the museum collected: 2 species of Carabidae (Microlestes sp. (female) and Bembidion properans); 3-Chrysomelidae (Longitarsus sp., Chaetocnema hortensis, Ch. concinna); Helophorus nubilus, 2 Staphylinid species... Also, the larvae of softlings, a bunch of spiders, reticulated wings (golden-eyes and hemerobes) came out, some kind of scoop flew into the light. And there are no autumn moths (Max Klepikov was right when he said that they will not appear after frosts).
In general, winter is still postponed....
