Today I went to look at the sand hills, and at the same time I took a walk in the old pine forest.Zhukovsky district, Kaluga region, in the forest under the moss everywhere solid ice and cold, but on the dry slopes of the hills life was really in full swing.A lot of things have already warmed up.There was a single tree-like willow-the first to bloom in a greenhouse-near the southern slope of the hill, where there was a hum from eardrums-everyone ate there, but it was caught on the cliffs and scree.I got a kick out of the fishing process.Caught a lot of things-especially I want to mention the cunning bees.I'll put the photo in the definition. The season is open!!R. S. I won't go to Colombia and Peru yet...

As they say there - " who is looking, he will always find?" smile.gif

Here they are, the beautiful doritomuses! jump.gif

So I went to the forest today for oak bark (I need to decorate the terrarium). I go and see a male flying. I walked around and found a tree, a huge poplar, the most filthy and squalid of all, growing almost right next to the road. Before that, I had seen more than 50 first-class poplars and aspens, but I didn't even look at such trees.
And here on this poplar tree and near it in 30 minutes I caught 14 longimanuses! Apparently, these comrades are sitting on the very top of a 30-meter tree and spitting from a high bell tower at entomologists passing below. Today it is quite windy and they are periodically blown away from there.

Now I set a new task-to find willow doritomuses, this is already more difficult smile.gif

On the 11th I went to the village on business and of course took the opportunity) It was warm outside, and there was no wind, so only the hunters, of whom there were quite a few, were in the way. And about every third person passing by always stopped and asked something like: "What the fuck is that?" or "What kind of artist are you doing here?". But this is not the main thing, because in addition to woodcocks and ducks, butterflies also flew beautifully. До 23-30 прилетело:

Hello everybody! This is the Leningrad region. It's still early enough. Sun, but not hot. I didn't even want to write this post, but oh well. Let the people see how sad it is still here.
Report:
G. rhamni - 15 pieces, a lot has appeared since lunch.
N. xanthomelas - 20-30 pieces, along the road in sunny areas on a butterfly, or even two.
N. antiopa-2 pcs, in the same place in the forest by the road.
P. c-album - 1 pc. in the forest, on the way back.
N. urticae - 1 pc
. N. io-2-3 pcs.
spring mills - 5-10 pieces. Not often.
There is almost no snow, only in two places, as in the photo, that's all.
Blooming "Wolf bast", smells. On a lake near the shore, a couple of ducks, and to the right a separate drake, are chasing them.
There were two mourning boxes in one place.
I was cold and dressed well and warmly. In the morning +4C. From 12.00 - +10C. But the air is very cold.
Not a cloud in the sky.

Storozhevka, 13. IV. 16

Today we have partly cloudy weather (more cloudy than sunny), +14 degrees.

Meloe aeneus T-shirts run across the steppe, and the first Dorcadion sareptanum dorcashes have appeared. I took a German girl and a nice elephant, Pleurocleonus quadrivittatus. Then I came across dry plants (I think it was mar or something), started picking at the roots and found a bunch of weevil larvae there. It is not clear what kind of view. Usually in such cases, the remnants of imago help, but this time they were not. I picked up some roots, put them in a basin, and covered them with earth. Let's see if we can get it out. Some of the larvae were also pickled. I also liked how the spring ephemeral sickle-head (Ceratocephala falcata) blooms, whole carpets!

Yesterday's report today

The weather turned gloomy, but the warmth remained. Once again, the daily test yielded results. Thanks to Ilya Turbanov and his hunting habits, the following species from different families were caught in the air.

Material: Russia, Yaroslavl region, Nekouzsky district, pos. Borok, surroundings of the Barsky pond, park, day let, 14.04.2016 I. S. Turbanov leg.

Ochthebius minimus (Fabricius, 1792)

Olophrum consimile (Gyllenhal, 1810) -- photo 2
Arpedium quadrum (Gravenhorst, 1806) -- photo 1

Anoplotrupes stercorarius Scriba, 1791

Trypodendron lineatum (Olivier, 1795)

And in the photo there are two species of Staphylinidae caught earlier, but still caught today from the subfamily Omaliinae. And like Arpedium quadrum, there was a lot of it at the pond yesterday. We were pleased with the bark beetles — a very nice view.

...

Well, the latest post-Christmas news. In the evening, before a light rain, another beetle was caught. Thank you to all my colleagues who are soaking wet in the rain and bring these jewels to me. The beetle is common in these parts, but it's still nice to be aware of such scientific care around.

Dytiscus circumcinctus Ahrens, 1811

Material: Russia, Yaroslavl region, Nekouzsky district, pos. Borok, near the building No. 105 of the IBVV RAS, under the lantern, 70 years old, 14.04.2016 (1♂) V. V. Bolshakov leg.

Interesting, this year in Ilovla, S. spini when is it worth waiting for? Maybe they've already flown? The weather there was good for a whole week. In a couple of days, the weather there will be very bad (at night +9 and rain, rain), by May it will get better. However, the beginning of May is already too late for spini, at least for fresh ones ...

I opened the season, as usual, with a trip to Komarovo, the Shchuchye Ozero Nature Reserve. Where it is so easy to breathe among the old spruce forests and Karelian pines "rushing to the sky", where Akhmatova lived and worked... After last year's cold summer, the species composition of lepidoptera north of St. Petersburg is still quite modest: fresh pairs of A. parthenias, wintering ones of G. rhamni, A. io, and P. c-album. Yes, a lone Lithophane consocia under a streetlight. But the anthills are full of life...

I drove to Storozhevka again today.

Unfortunately, I didn't find any more T-shirts, and dorkashch only got one.

But there I came across the head of a fox cub, already quite dry. On it and around it, almost a complete set of necrophilous beetles was collected - kozheedy, karapuziki, blestyanki, kaloedov, even creophilus maxilosus was caught.

I don
't know why to photograph a corpse, but the head seemed to me exactly fox, it clearly doesn't look like a cat, it's too small for a dog and the hair is a characteristic brown-red color, dogs have this kind of rarity

1.05.2016 caught the admiral. It seems to be nothing special, but I've never even seen them so early in Lipetsk, not that I caught them. I always thought that they do not spend the winter here, and the population is replenished by those who have flown in from the south. Before Tole, the earliest find of the admiral is on May 25.

May 1.2. The first truly sunny days are +18..19 degrees after two weeks of cloudy and rainy weather. On the sidewalks last week, the first May beetles were seen, then the first flying swifts appeared, and today local ones are already flying. Cuckoos and hoopoes can be heard in the forest. Xanthomeles have almost disappeared from the overwintering nymphalids, but Aglais io and Polygonia c-album are abundant. There are also plenty of lemongrass plants. The images show young insects, including in some places numerous long-whiskered moths Nematopogon swammerdamella. I could not remove extremely mobile young moth Lobophora halterata.

2-4 km from Kurdyum station, Green Kurgan Mountain

We drove today to a new point - "Green Kurgan". The place is cool and promising. But something is wrong with the timing this year. For example, all the astragaluses have already faded or are fading. It's already full of beetles, spiders and other things (as it usually happens in June). There are a lot of swallowtails and polixenes flying, but all of them are already beaten to the trash...
It feels like it's already June, not May!

Got caught a bit. An interesting example is Mecinus laeviceps Tournier, 1873, a recently derived twin species of Mecinus heydenii. Mowed, as expected, with Linaria genistifolia. Unfortunately, only 1 exp...
Also came across some interesting Melanobaris, a couple of slightly strange Ceutorhynchus sp. and a perfectly clean, excellent copy. Tychius affinis.

Is there life on the rock?

There is. For two days of collecting, a variety of beetle families and species were collected from one inconspicuous stone on the side of a dirt road. I caught it in the afternoon and evening hours, when the sun came out, especially after the daily rain, the pebble was in demand. Two species of ants also lived nearby: Myrmica rugulosa Nylander, 1849 and Lasius niger (Linnaeus, 1758). And so, near the real stone and directly on it right at the cordon, where we lived, in the almost extinct village of Fryunino (two people remained), the following material was collected (8 families and 20 species).

Russia: Novgorod region, Kholmsky district, village Fryunino, protected area of the Rdeiskiy State Industrial Park, 29.04. -2.05.2016 A. S. Sazhnev leg.

Bembidion properans (Stephens, 1828)
Microlestes minutulus (Goeze, 1777)
Demetrias imperialis (Germar, 1824)

Hydrobius fuscipes (Linnaeus, 1758)

Xantholinus laevigatus Jacobsen, 1849
Amischa analis (Gravenhorst, 1802)
Drusilla canaliculata (Fabricius, 1787)
Sepedophilus marshami (Stephens, 1832)

Brachygluta fossulata (Reichenbach, 1816)

Stethorus punctillum Weise, 1891
Scymnus haemorrhoidalis Herbst, 1797
Nephus redtenbacheri Mulsant, 1846

Olibrus flavicornis (Sturm, 1807)

Catapion seniculus (Kirby, 1808)
Holotrichapion aethiops (Herbst, 1797)
Stenopterapion meliloti (Kirby, 1808)

Sitona lateralis Gyllenhal, 1834
Sitona hispidulus (Fabricius, 1776)
Hypera viciae (Gyllenhal, 1813)
Microplontus rugulosus (Herbst, 1795)

Today, after lunch, my son asked me to take him fishing, so we went to the Long Lake in Vozhegodsky district. My son was fishing, but I wandered around the glades (I still amuse myself with the idea of finding Meloe)
The villages along the banks are deserted
There are a lot of ticks

9. V. 2016, Novoburassky district, Teplovka village district

We have such a tradition, on May 9, to catch beetles wink.gif
Today we went to Teplovka, Novoburassky district. Polovili little because the weather also has its own tradition-on May 9, rain to water... I didn't take many photos either, and the ones I did didn't turn out very well because of the weather...
