Today I fixed it on raduzhnits, well, I picked it up for the exchange. This time I mowed down a forest pond, a former silo pit. Three species were caught for the first time they were circled, and they were caught in a dry place
Well, part of the catch

May 29, southern outskirts of Oryol. Forest planting along the railway led to a small ravine with elements of steppe vegetation, a kind of oasis among dachas and fields.
Fly pigeons semiagrus, Osiris, many thistles. A tiny population of myrmidons was found on a broom slope.

Coleopter--when will the report on our trip to Dosang be released on May 1-13??

I hope I can do that, too... Yesterday I spread out all the scarabs.

Rum,as it turned out, a trip for such a period and for such distances-finally 2 people in the car fit, and the third is just a hanger, overload, tent, food and water, and much more. For example-the nights were almost all cold and windy, it was often impossible to catch on the screen, you can't leave anything on the street at all-everything was plundered by animals, hidden in the trunk, well, you can also sleep at 4C and the wind-only drunk. For three people, you need to use a minibus....It's not there yet...

By the way, they ran away from the rain everywhere and constantly, starting from 30.04, from the Khopersky nature reserve.Left in the sun and summer only in Mikhaylovka, 02.05.900 !!! KM of rain,I've never seen anything like it.In the Volgograd region on 01.05 it was impossible to stand on the side of the road-everything was saturated with water, cars slid into a ditch if they braked not on asphalt.

Hello, Dear forum visitors!
I want to tell you a very modest report.
Today at 17:30 I left the city of Veliky Novgorod. Follow the Luzhskaya highway 20-30 km to the upper swamp near the villages of Naschi and Lyubolyadi.
I walked through the swamp for only 15 minutes. I went out purely for exploration. Among the young pines, I caught the first mother-of-pearl this year. Eunomia.
And then... A flown butterfly flies. I take it (well... you never know, anything happens).
At home I sit, first with a wonderful site butterflies MO. It didn't help. Then I sat down with my books and I want to ask you, gentlemen, is this Frigga?
Thank you!)
I apologize for the leaky straightener.

Yes, it's Frigga !!! I think it is identical to the Belarusian and Finnish versions.
It most likely takes off a week earlier than the eunomies-around May 20.
If you wake up in the swamp a little earlier than May 15, M. B. will also find Klossiana freya.

Last Saturday, June 12, I was going to go to the swamp, but the weather failed, or rather, the forecast - it was predicted to rain with thunderstorms. I didn't want to get wet and watch and feed mosquitoes instead of hiding swamp butterflies. So I went to the nearest forest near the house. The whole day was overcast with a few rare clearings, but without rain. I was surprised by the abundance of moths both in terms of the number of specimens and the number of species. They sat openly on leaves and trunks and were clearly visible due to the low-light conditions of a cloudy day. It was also easy to find those who, being startled, flew to another place. Mace-moustaches almost all did not fly, only occasionally it was possible to notice a hayloft or selenium raised from the leaves.
The next day, on the 13th, we went to explore berry spots in the same forest. The weather was sunny most of the time, and there were already mostly mace-moustaches. In the evening, on the trunk of a pine tree, I noticed eupithecia, a new group for me in general, so the next day, on the 14th, I broke out again into the same forest for a couple of hours to look for these butterflies. Again it was overcast, and again the moth trees were clearly visible. Eupithecia found only one, but several other species.
Below is a photo report about the met moth. For reasons of habit, I did not shoot the ubiquitous Chiasmia clathrata and Siona lineata. Also, there are no pictures of Jodis putata, because there was no need to wait until the continuously crawling and flying butterfly quieted down for enough time for photographing in a suitable angle.

Vladimir region, Vyaznikovsky district, June 21-23.
So we went out for three days, caught some butterflies and beetles. Quite a lot of rarities were caught, but some species were never found. The time for the trip was very well chosen: early summer species were still flying, but at the same time, especially on the third day, many fresh, clean specimens of the species characteristic of late June and early July also flew.
In addition to the species from the list, we also managed to find covers of bagworms (Canephora hirsuta, Sterrhopterix fusca, Taleporia tubulosa, Proutia betulina) and two Cucullia lucifuga caterpillars of two different color variants. In addition, pupae and pupating caterpillars of Melitaea didyma were found, and a clutch of eggs (170-180 pieces)was obtained Rhyparia purpurata.

In the Moscow region, according to my observations, Phengaris teleius took off at the earliest on June 12.

Yes, all this beauty is practically in one place: a piece of forest with numerous clearings, glades and swamps. All fishing spots are located in the vicinity of three villages located along a 5 km long section of the main road. And telei, like many other species, just appeared, fresh males flew.

June 26, the outskirts of Oryol. A small walk along the piece of iron.
There are many common species, and fiery chervonets and iperants are bred. Quite a large number of meadowsweet mottles, they were late this summer. We haven't met xanthomelas at all, and a couple of years ago there were so many of them! The first Galatea begin years.

July 2, the outskirts of Oryol.
Walk to the former airfield, my favorite vast wasteland very close to home.
We also have Melanargia russiae! First Galatea, and now the Russians have reached Melanargy. Since everything has been trodden far and wide for more than one year, I would definitely have noticed them earlier.
They are kept only in the driest, steepest place, where not only cereals, but also astragalus and sainfoin grow.
Mottled birds Zygaena loti and Zygaena minos flew out, if of course I correctly identified them.

We managed to choose good days between two bad weather conditions near St. Petersburg.
In the first days, after squally winds, I was lucky with mushrooms. If you look closely, you can see a chain of aspen bushes stretching away from the main, very high one.

On the next trip, we managed to find a dry meadow on the river bank, protected from all sides by forest. Despite a fairly strong wind, there was not a windmill on it and it was wet and hot. The thermometer on the clock read +39.6 C. And there were a huge number of butterflies. Surprisingly, most of them were Colias palaeno, females and males, despite the fact that the swamp where they lived was at least 1 km away. The clearing that runs through it was cleared this year and there are not even any stumps left. There were a lot of butterflies. Within a 10-meter radius, the flowers constantly showed about 20 females and about 5 males, who were constantly moving and playing. They were absolutely not afraid, I took the sitting female by the castal veins and put her back on the flower, she continued to feed ! It didn't even fly away. Photo of a female with open wings-really. A male just flew away from her and I managed to click, and a moment later she flew away. I collected only
a yellowish female Colias palaeno. In the same place, on a dry meadow, there
were V. optilete. And the next day there was a thunderstorm and the temperature dropped to +14C.

On July 3, I finally managed to get into the Red Lighthouse behind the Apollos. This is the first time I've taken such a long trip, it was a bit scary that I would arrive in vain or I wouldn't find a place. Fortunately, the weather did not disappoint, the road is all clear, it was not difficult to find places of summer) Happy, took home 4 butterflies. It's really difficult to stop, but in this heat, most of them are badly beaten, and you don't really run after them on the burel. Some pigeons and mother-of-pearl birds were flying, but after an hour of chasing the Apollos, they were no longer there. We stopped for the night on the Oka River near Murom, there are few fish, the water is dirty) At night there were a lot of malacosoma neustria (all males) and small winebirds, one noctua fimbriata and gastropacha quercifolia. I didn't take anyone else, I only shone for an hour in order to save gas.

At the request of my esteemed colleagues, I post a piece of collecting from a magical dry meadow with 40-degree heat. Moreover, we have two days of continuous downpour with a gale-force wind and the whole city is covered with branches, twigs, leaves, tree trunks and broken umbrellas. The upper one is a female who was tried to seduce by another female, usually white in color, mistaking it for a male.

Kaluga region, city of Ludinovo, 30.06-04.07.16
I went fishing at night in the south-west of the Kaluga region. I didn't catch much fish during the day, but I managed to meet two specimens of Pyrgus alveus, as well as Lasiommata megera, one almost dead, but at this time it was impossible to count on anything else: the remains of the first generation were already flying away, and the second one is flying there in early August.
At night, everything was much more interesting, but the weather was very much in the way. The sun shone for five nights, but it was really good only on the second night. On the first night (since we had just arrived), the light turned on only at 1: 30, because there was almost nothing to catch, on the third night we had to catch after a severe thunderstorm, and many species simply did not fly, on the fourth it was constantly drizzling, and on the last it got very cold. Despite all this, the catch was just wonderful!

Hello everybody!

This is the weather in St. Petersburg this year. Clouds would condense directly overhead and a thunderstorm would begin. In some places, hail fell.
Fortunately, I was able to get away from the storm. I saw where the clouds were going and dodged them. As a result, in 2.5 hours I walked 9.7 km (I counted on Google) and as soon as I came to the house, a terrible downpour began.
And in the field I got caught in a heavy rain, which lasted for 4 minutes. In the sun and heat. A lot of things flew, but I didn't see anything interesting, I collected one butterfly.
I gained a lot of chanterelles, 3-4 kilograms, they grew in" fields", 1-2 meters each.

July 16, the outskirts of Oryol. Walk through the woodland to check on the myrmidons
on the slope among the fields. The second generation flew out, about a dozen butterflies were seen.
Sappho is fresh, quite a lot. And the first generation never caught my eye.

From July 15 to July 18, I was at my dacha in the Kasimov district of Ryazan region. I traveled a lot around the neighborhood, mainly looking at beetles, since it is already very difficult for butterflies to find something new in this area. I examined one interesting point in the vicinity of the Oka Nature Reserve. I found a second specimen of Protaetia (Potosia) hieroglyphica (Men., 1832), which was previously unknown in the region. The first copy was found a week ago during a joint trip with Lesha Vishnyakov. So the point is confirmed. Among the interesting barbels on umbelliferous plants - Aromia moschata (Linnaeus, 1758), Chlorophorus herbstii (Brahm, 1790) – a new station was found, and Necydalis major Linnaeus, 1758 – a station where beetles appear regularly was also found. The next perspective point was located about 20 km to the north of the first one and was a mixed forest edge, heavily overgrown with umbrella trees. There were also majors and even a lone herbsti, but the main bonus was the capture of a fresh male Pachyta lamed (L., 1758).
I haven't really looked at daytime butterflies, but I note that local apollons are finishing their years and this season I have seen them in large numbers, and in the mass fluttering outside their usual station, which we have been monitoring for several years.
Despite the warm weather, the nights were cool and clear. The moon was shining and nothing really flew, although I caught only on the site. tc to go somewhere was too lazy. From the beetles in the mass flew Dolichus halensis (Schaller 1783), barbels Arhopalus rusticus (Linnaeus 1758), a pair of rhinoceroses and a male and female prionus coriarius. Among the butterflies, I was interested in several species of scoops (I haven't identified them yet), and a fresh metalworm Autographa bractea (Denis & Schiffermuller, 1775).
That's about it. Of course, there were many more insects flying in and out, but I just mentioned only those that caught my attention.
In the photo, only a part of the beetles, those that were in the phone, TC write from work.

Oh, can I take a look at the Heteroceridae collection sometime?

Good evening!
Today I was again in the swamp in the vicinity of the village of Naschi.
It's hot. There are a lot of blueberries and blueberries along the edge of the swamp, and people collect moss in bags. There are a lot of cranberries in the swamp itself, they are maturing. Lizards crawl.
From butterflies: G. rhamni and P. argus (and flies in HUGE numbers).

Hello everybody!
I'm doing some sorties alone, probably everyone in the European part of the Russian Federation is cooked from the heat. Uch-Kuduk of some kind ! To the fair remark of the forum members, I report that all this is 140 km south of St. Petersburg, Leningrad region. Both this post and the previous one. Yesterday it was +31C with complete calm, and the formed thunderstorm, as you can see in the photo, went in the other direction, to the much-respected fraudatrix.

But you didn't guess - in Penza it is now + 22 C outside the window... every day it rains torrentiously... In the evening, the temperature is naturally even lower, not a damn thing flies at night... We went to the border with the Saratov region under Bekovo - south of the sun, over the region of clouds, thunder and lightning... soaked to the skin with all the capes, tropical rains...
