In Saratov, too, the weather begins to deteriorate, rain and wind are promised.

I went to Budanov Mountain yesterday. Every year I go there, and every time it's harder to find something new. Nevertheless, I have not caught tafoxenus yet, this is a new ground beetle for me. And some other red galerutsinka caught, it seems, too, did not catch such. There are still a lot of Dorcadion equestre running around on the roads, and so is D. sareptanum. In the steppe, astragalus and spirea bloom (there were bronze flowers on it). A lot of butterflies fly (especially some massive black satires). At some point, as many as 5 swallowtails were circling over one mound, and it was the mound that attracted them, it's funny.
I didn't take my camera with me, so here's a photo of my training camps on mattresses.

Ilovlya is a long and at the same time very specific concept. I think that in the European part of Russia, this is one of those iconic places that every self-respecting entomologist should visit, along with Dosang, Thorn Forest, Belogorye, etc.

but what about Burkin? weep.gif

by the way, you have there incorrectly signed "Some very beautiful Astragalus sp.:" - this is not an astragalus, but a large-flowered penny (Hedysarum grandiflorum)

There are three Valtras and one John Deere-they're stuck up to their necks. About 40 cm of light loam, and then-sandstone. It was decided to try to raise multi-year deposits without launching a fall. Where the fallen was allowed - plowed without problems.

While winter returned to Moscow, we traditionally went to the south of the Russian Federation for the second May holidays. This year we decided to go to the mini-desert on the left bank of the Don, near Kalach-on-Don. We are located on the shore of a lake on the border with pustynka. The desert is pretty, but almost impassable, even normal SUVs got stuck in the sand on the road through the desert. Unlike the semi-desert in Dosang, this small desert was just a mass of roundhead lizards running around. The weather compared to Moscow was normal, with an average of 20 degrees during the day and 4 to 10 degrees at night. It rained only on May 10, and the wind was almost always there frown.gif
Small-leaved elm, oak, broom and hawthorn blossomed. There were practically no more flowers. I was surprised by the complete absence of dorcadions, which are massed on the other side of the Don. Polyxenes, swallowtails, saw only one carrion (it is still early to see). Torches gathered near the lamp on the trunks of oak trees every evening, mated, ate caterpillars and were not going to fly 3 meters to the screen. This did not help them, because Mikhail broke off their raspberries and collected them in a jar smile.gif
At night, milkweed hawkmoth and parceles flew in large numbers, with isolated pine, linden and poplar trees. Bears, as well as butterflies in general, were very few at night, a huge moon in its full stage always kills hopes for a normal year. All the night gatherings, except for the bears and three bifid-shaped tufts for the Frost at Sergey Legotin, and only one mattress was thrown to the beetles, because there was nothing interesting, standard crushies, scarabs, black-bodied ones... I hope Mikhail will add photos of landscapes to the report.

Yegorino mesto, the average summer temperature on Saturday, May 13 was, last year with Yegor caught decticus albifrons (often caught verrocivorus), there were locusts of such genera as: oedaleus, oedipoda, acrida, locusta, ramburiella, chorthippus, the place itself is crossed by a railway, located in the south of Tsimlyansk.

Yesterday I visited the northern half of the city. The region is located on the border of Danilovsky and Tutayevsky districts.
Spring is wildly late, goose onions are blooming, anemone buttercup has not yet bloomed in some places. Mowing almost nothing took. During a three-hour hike through the fields, forests and old manor and back, I found barely 25 species of beetles (mostly in dead wood). Only the field horse Cicindela campestris was active, which "ran" and even tried to fly in the biting wind on the field..
From not the most "background":
Stomis pumicatus,
Hololepta plana,
Ampedus nigroflavus
Neomida haemorrhoidalis
Macroleptura thoracica-remains in a fallen hundred-year-old birch.
But the" psis " of the sea-turukhtans have become impudent, they are dancing right on the country road, a flock of geese (800 heads) is sitting on the field-white-fronted ones in the mass...
And a few final photos:

I'm not very good at ground beetles...... but something similar came across, as well as the ubiquitous dung beetles and some large red leaf eaters massively celebrated weddings.

The deepest temperature depression, which began in the north-west of Russia on April 12, continues. Rare days, when it is slightly warmer, can not generally correct the situation. In St. Petersburg now only cherry blossoms. The delay is at least half a month. The cold weather of next week does not add optimism. In Novgorod, of course, it's better, but I don't think much. The Finnish neighbors are also very sour:
http://koivu.luomus.fi/nafi/nafi_stat2014.php
Jutta may take off today, but most likely after the cold first five days of June. Or it may not fly out. For example, on the Karelian Isthmus, it flies every other year, and in the south of the Leningrad region every year. And do you have a mistake with E. tages in the swamps? Maybe Pyrgus malvae after all?

And in the Moscow region, Jutta flew this Friday-Saturday-May 26-27.

You're absolutely right!!! It is she, malvovaya and flies-a million pardons-obshibsya wall.gif.
With the weather in general, some kind of garbage is happening - the rowan tree has already gained color, so soon it would be necessary to work against the carrot fly, and the carrot has not even risen yet. Fly - bummer!!!

From mother-of-pearl-nothing at all. If you're talking about the photo , this is Novgorodsky district-D.Lesnaya street. It's the same in other places. Yesterday-a swamp in the Soletsky district-similarly, in the Porkhovsky district (Pskov region) - the same situation!
