Horntail seems to be a good one-from the hardwoods.

Tremex fuscicornis Fabricius, 1787 (birch) this is if I'm not mistaken.

Moscow region, Leninsky district, Vidnovsky forest Park, 16.04.2012.
On the third truly warm spring day, I finally managed to escape for a walk. Unlike the city, there is still plenty of snow in the forest, but it is melting very actively, as evidenced by the rapid flood, which is obviously the strongest in recent years.

Of the lepidoptera encountered:

Aglais io
Nymphalis vaualbum
Nymphalis xanthomelas
Polygonia c-album
Gonepteryx rhamni
Archiearis parthenias
Boudinotiana notha
Lycia hirtaria
Orthosia incerta

Moscow city, Izmailovsky Park. 15.IV.2012.
The snow cover is solid (except for the southern edge, which faces the highway). Enthusiasts), thawed only in some places around the trees, but the melting is intense, there are many streams, there is a lot of water under the snow. Humidity is very high, fog swirls here and there, cloudy, entomofauna is almost at zero. But the birds are yelling - a full forest, there will be someone to register insects when they appear.

Photo report for 16. IV. 2012. Mountains. Moscow, Victory Park and zap. the side of Minskaya Street opposite it.
The snow was almost completely gone, but the ground wasn't dry yet.
In addition to what is shown in the photo, a span of urticaria is marked. Not marked from the standard complex: vesennitsy (in general, there I know only parthenias, and then as a small number), io, polychloros (in recent years generally rare).
Objects in the images don't repeat themselves.
Of the nocturnal ones, the females in the images are 6736, 6738, 6739, and 6752; the rest are males.
The weather is moderately overcast, the sun disappeared in the morning and began to show again only in the evening.

Snapshot IMG_6681.jpg Is this Alsophila aescularia,or am I wrong?
Although it is similar to Semioscopis avellanella.

100% non-aescularia, the fringe of the forewing is completely different, not to mention the pattern. And the second option is very likely, but it would be better to ask Proklov. I didn't take the copy. In general, I have noticed this butterfly in Izmailovsky Park before (although not from the Entuziastov Highway, but to the north, in the southern part of the Serebryanka River valley).

This is not one pair, but two. I also pointed out that the objects in the images are not repeated. They are sitting in the middle of an uncut field on the old, flat grass, the sun weakly breaking through the clouds. The place they chose was the sunniest and warmest possible: nearby-a forest belt along Starovolynskaya Street, the wind from the side of the street, the forest belt just blocked this edge of the field from the wind, and the grass provided a dry litter (the ground is cold and wet, on dirt roads - impassable mud). Two pairs side by side, no more than three meters apart. Therefore, both images are marked with the same time, up to a minute. Xanthomelas have been observed mating in the soil (on weak fresh grass) on a slope. Always at the bottom, but never on the plants. The pose is always like this-in a normal landing, with folded wings. I've never seen them do this lying on their sides, like lemongrass plants (which often lie down in the open when the weather isn't warm enough).

I didn't try to scare them, but I took one pair in my hands after shooting (to see if it was safe), then put it back. There was no reaction to this, the butterflies did not uncouple and absolutely did not rip.
About io and c-album - I don't remember. If I did, I've already forgotten...

Svyatoslav! In my opinion, it fits well, even if it's not Mark. In general, everyone has very good photos, some are generally special, there is everything, and a well-chosen place ( A. Y. Elez - ladybug), and a harmoniously blurred background ( Arunas-crested), and razor-sharp focus (Wise snake-praying mantis), etc. To assess the real possibility of technology, at such small magnifications, a great specialist can do.

Many Lycia hirtaria; Agriopis marginaria; Agriopis leucophaearia; quite Achlya flavicornis; Scoliopteryx libatrix; Lithophane consocia, Orthosia gothica; Anorthoa munda. Eupsila transversa a lot.
I haven't identified two scoops and one micra yet.
