On Voinovaya Gora, I found a rotten tinder box in which Bolitophagus sp. settled for the winter.(probably Bolitophagus reticulatus,I don't know for sure).

Gennadich, he is: there seems to be no one else to be like that. In my opinion, they generally sit on tinder boxes all year round (they live there).

I think I closed the season. The daytime temperature on these days was about 10 degrees, the weather was both cloudy and clear. Warm evenings, which were the most active season, were followed by cold ones with temperatures below zero.

Encountered during the day these days:
Aglais io
Epirrita autumnata
Operophtera brumata
Operophtera fagata

Flew to the light:
Operophtera brumata
Operophtera fagata
Erannis defoliaria
Colotois pennaria
Poecilocampa populi
Ptilophora plumigera
Autographa gamma
Agrochola circellaris
Eupsilia transversa

Exactly gamma? Don't confuse it with Macdunnoughia confusa by accident?

Today I went to Losino-Ostrovsky forest Park (Moscow) and found it in the snow in the mass

winter mosquitoes, some kind of collembola (approx. 5mm), and some kind of fly (approx. 4mm). The latter moved very quickly on the surface of the snow and burrowed into its cracks without taking off. It reminded me of a horse bloodsucker's maneuverability. It would be interesting to learn more about neu. And about the callembol.

Wow! I have long dreamed of finding at least some living creatures in the snow, once I read about glaciers, about collemballs too, but the paradox is that as soon as we have snow, I immediately fall into "winter hibernation", well, I can't walk in the snow, everything seems so lifeless.

Yesterday I took a tour of the Silicates cave system. This trip was made more for the purpose of introducing to speleology than entomology - the caves there are very trans - anthropogenic (in the era of White-Stone Moscow, there was an active quarry in which limestone was extracted-and now it is a favorite place for Moscow cavers).
IMG_0006.JPG
P1020220.JPG
P1020332.JPG
IMG_00141.jpg

However, as you know, insects are everywhere, including in such caves. The presence of bats in caves, as well as mold, creates some ecological niches. In the rock, which, apparently, was under the resting place of bats, among their excrement, Choleva was caught, which at a temperature in the cave of about 5 degrees was more than active (almost ran away).
P1020364.JPG

In addition, something resembling the larval chambers of some insects (well, worms) was found in the clay lump. By the way, can someone help me identify what it is?
P1020278.JPGP1020282.JPG

Of the mosquitoes, only one chironomid was seen. I was extremely surprised by the absence of blood-sucking mosquitoes in these caves. It would seem that urban kuleks, which develop perfectly in flooded basements of houses, should thrive in caves, where in places there are flooded areas and a lot of people - but no.
On the ceiling of one of the caves, water condensed into droplets on the cobwebs spanning the ceiling. There were a lot of cobwebs on the ceiling, but I couldn't find its owner.
P1020266.JPG
P1020269.JPG

By the way, I never met the bats themselves, although I often came across their excrement. Apparently, bats spend the winter in these caves. Although, according to cavers, the other day they met here quite an active, not gibbering animal-perhaps awakened by cave visitors.

It may have been a web of keroplatid mosquito larvae.

Hello everyone.Last night, the first night "fishing" of the year took place, so to speak. tongue.gif
A moth flew into the light of the desk lamp, and I took a picture of it this afternoon.
I wonder what kind it belongs to?Tinea pellionella is a fur moth or Tinea tapetiella is a dress moth, although this one has a 20-22mm span of about 9-10mm.Or maybe it's someone else?

Today I decided to take a walk along the Moskva River. The weather is beautiful +5,the sun is warm.
I scared off polychrome on the beach, and she flew away like a scalded bird.
The snow is higher than knee-deep,if we have a sharp warming, cataclysms in the form of floods can not be avoided.

Yeah! Yesterday the weather was so good, I went to the greenhouse (in the country) there ants all woke up in piles crawling, saw some kind of finger fly, and small beetles, as well as spiders! In general, there is spring in full swing, you go out into the snowdrifts!
