Sorry, I got carried away smile.gif
I only caught this butterfly once in my distant childhood in the Crimea, I know that they are not found in Siberia, but then conversations flashed about the admiral, so I dreamed smile.gif

This stuff (V. atalanta) we have in Moscow and the region will be full in the second half of summer, absolutely fresh. So-what's still ahead smile.gif
Please excuse the old picture (it's still too early for them):

In the photo, of course, cardui. But we also come across an admiral, sometimes there are a lot of them. http://omflies.narod.ru/Species/atalanta.htm
In the south of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, it is unlikely that it will be, although you never know, suddenly it will be brought by winds... In the Novosibirsk region, he was caught. Further east, I don't know about the Admiral's findings.

Moscow region, Leninsky district, Vidnovsky forest Park, 19.04.2012.

The weather is quite warm, but mostly cloudy, with only Aglais io, Nymphalis xanthomelas, and Gonepteryx rhamni among the mace-moustaches. There are quite a lot of springwoods, among the Archiearis parthenias again came across Boudinotiana notha. On tree trunks - Achlya flavicornis, Phigalia pilosaria, Eupithecia lanceata.

Today I went to Izmailovsky Park for Alsophila aescularia. I came in from the south side, near the 3rd Vladimirskaya Street. At first I met only polychromatic and sometimes lemongrass plants around, and on the trunks of linden and maple trees, Semioscopis avellanella was found in many places. At the very first oak tree, I met Lycia pomonaria, and after some time I found one copy of the target species. During the walk, I saw springboks four times, caught them twice, both parthenias. I decided to leave the park from the north side, and here, very close to the metro, I found some small construction site with a white fence, on which a four-meter powerful searchlight was directed. There were a lot of Alsophiles sitting on the fence, I took 6 pieces (the evil Zhuk asked me to take everyone, but I left 2-3 pieces) It is noteworthy that apart from these moths and one Semioscopis, there was no one else on the fence. I think that on weekends, if someone needs Alsophila, they can easily get there in time, you just need to go along the asphalt path perpendicular from Izmailovskaya to the open space (the path does not go from the exit from the station, but rests on the fence approximately in the middle) By the way, I also saw one on the ceiling of the station itself) In this connection, I can say that today's most valuable find is not a moth, but a single copy of Tortricodes alternella, found in the morning under a lamp right in the biofactory smile.gif

Today I went to Odintsovo district in the vicinity of the Skorotovo platform for Archiearis notha, as a result, I went from Skorotovo to the dacha in Pestovo. Along the railway line flew anglewings, xanthomelas, lemongrass, peacock's eyes, and even mournwings, quite often, but for some reason they were nowhere else along the way; and of the springwings, there were only parthenias. However, in the first place, where there were 10 aspens for 1 birch, not far from Kobyakovo, I caught notha. After that, I went to the Nahavnya River Valley, where I found a male and female Biston strataria that had recently emerged from their pupae. In general, compared to the year before last (April 16), spring is very late, there are no primroses, except for the mother-and-stepmother, the willow is just beginning to bloom, the spring, flowing out of the pipe under the bridge, is overflowing and bubbling, which was definitely not two years ago. I also got some micra, among which I came across Anybia langiella, which is not only impossible to focus on, but it also escaped when trying to transfer to the stain. While walking on the poles, Lycia hirtaria was also caught three times, and Orthosia gothica, Lithophane consocia and socia specimens each.

I'll go there myself soon. I envy smile.gifIn my Cerebellum (very close from there) only once met a torn parthenias, and even more so did not see notha. So this one torn up still stands in the collection.

Mozzhinka (Odintsovo district).
Urraa! Biston stratarius flew-large, fat, bright.
In the depths of the village, despite all the tricks (DRL + UV) - not a single one. But at the checkpoint, at the gatehouse with a lantern, next to the highway, I saw 20 pieces today.
I visit the lodge regularly at night - the guards are already aware of it smile.gif
I haven't seen any Endromis yet, and I'm just dreaming, because there isn't even a decent one. And then the caretaker says today that a large red-haired woman recently sat on the wall by the garbage bucket. Ahhhhh! I searched the entire perimeter of the lodge, emptied the bucket - no frown.gif
I gave the caretaker my phone number so that at any time of the day I could call for red smile.gif
In the mass of hirtaria, flavicornis, a lot of gothica, often nubeculosa, marginaria. Pomonaria - a little bit. Rarely aescularia, consocia.
It seems still Apocheima hispidaria-I will specify on removal.

I climbed a large birch tree today on a clean, well-warmed slope in the vicinity of Mozzhinka (Odintsovo district, near Skorotovo). By zeros of spring days! Well, what's wrong with them there?
On the way back, I turned into filtration fields (sewer sump tanks) with rare birch trees. And there one parthenias caught (though damaged), but two did not catch up. What tastes they have.
They also fly in open spaces near birch trees?

And what do springworm caterpillars eat?Correctly birch.
Are there any leaves on the birch tree? No,they're just beginning to bloom.
Soon everything will fall into place.

I'd love to, but my camera won't let me. The equipment is weak, and the purchase of a good one is still in the plans. If you take a closer photo, small objects are blurred. So don't blame me.
TEMPUSA has a cool camera, if we get out next weekend for endromis, I'll ask him to take it. The report's photo tracking will be more interesting then.

I went for a short fishing trip to the peat bogs in the Orekhovo-Zuyevsky district. I didn't want to miss such a wet and warm night. The goal is to catch a female Eriogaster lanestris that I don't have in my collection. From 21-30, about ten males arrived and one female crawled in. From 22, males and females of Odontosia sieversi and a spring set of scoops and moths flew. By 23, when I was about to leave, a large female Endromis versicolora came. I didn't wait for the males smile.gifto arrive, so I went home. In general, the season is open!

Today I took a walk on the outskirts of the city.
Spring is in full swing: lemongrass, peacock's eye, etc. fly
with might and main. For a long time I stood and watched as the male peacock's eye courted the female (there was no camera: it's a pityweep.gif).
All sorts of small ground beetles run along the roads. On birch sap, I collected a few glistens of Glischrochilus sp. (it is necessary to understand). I found a dead hedgehog on which I found only three large kozheedov (D. murinus in my opinion): the hedgehog was taken away from the path and hidden in the grass for the future, I will visit later.

You need to put it in an execution jar and put in the herbs that its caterpillars eat.

What if the food plant is a mystery? And the insect in the execution will not want to sit-it will fight. Then obobitsya in the bank a single copy of the butterfly, and even it turns out that it is c ... a. Maybe there are any other options?

22.04.2012 23:42, Wild Yuri

I folded the wings of a female apollo and other parnassius, placed them between pieces of whatman paper, took them with a clothespin and put them in a container with a forage plant shoot, or even a wad of toilet paper "out of laziness" - so that the butterfly would cling to it. Both the wings were intact, and the whole car. Some females, however, refused to "run" in this form. He fed everyone sweet water every day, driving his proboscis into a needle - less syringe filled with it. In the same condition, saturnia eggs should be laid. Bears can, if you can fold their wings. Try.

What if the food plant is a mystery?

If the food plant is a mystery, then what are you going to do next with these eggs? Yes, and if the butterfly is known (well, or at least with the application of certain efforts, you can determine), then you can also read about forage plants. Another question is whether it will be at the right moment at hand, but then what is the point of these eggs.
