I do not like it at European Catocala nupta, WA on many species of this genus do not want to define, and then get into the debate on the correctness of the definition. :)
Everyone here behaves like that, and who doesn't, reads what others write :))) Then starts doing the same :)
I didn't think of such a version, Aricia eumedon :( Can't say anything sure in this situation, but Evgeny's arguments sound solid.
If I say they have completely different undersides, you won't believe me. :) See how it's shown in this pic, you'll get where to look at. :) http://www.lepiforum.de/lepidopterenforum/lepiwiki/pics/jens_philipp/thersites_icarus_agestis_Vergleich_US.jpg
Aricia artaxerxes. Irina, your photos are way better than many other of "good" quality, worth keeping here. The angle is perfect to ID this species, both wing sides are seen.
:) http://molbiol.ru/forums/lofiversion/index.php/t383382.html If you're really interested, then it's worth making "a long search to clear this out". One can't give the sole and right answer, just his/her own personal opinion as to what's right. I'm faunist and content with that at this stage they refer Eastern European populations to Pontia edusa. :)
Yury, now it's deemed that there is another species in Russia, Pontia edusa, they don't differ in appearance, but I can't answer your possible question what's the difference between them, this is still a problem for taxonomists to solve, anyway it's generally accepted that all previous references to daplidice now considered edusa, which substitutes the species in the east of Europe. :)
